Better Mood, Better Post?

So here I am at 6:24 on Friday morning (TGIF!) trying to make my Thursday blog post. I was not too depressed to make my post last night. I was too tired and wordless. I did not even write much in the TV Journal. Then I got distracted by a two hour Dateline that I had not seen before. Regular readers are familiar with my love of all things murder and mayhem. Speaking of which:

The delightful Matthew Powers, interacting with our audience. That’s me in the background in gold lame.

The above photo showed up in my Facebook memories, practically begging me to use it in a Throwback Thursday post. It is from Secrets at Suiter House, an interactive murder mystery dinner theatre we presented to benefit Herkimer County Historical Society. I feel it was one of my better scripts, or perhaps I flatter myself.

You may be asking right now, why did I not make a Throwback Thursday post last night when it was, for example, actually Thursday? I say, that is a very good question. Yes, that is my only answer, other than referring you to the first paragraph, when I alluded to being wordless. I am pleased to report that this is no longer the case.

Discerning readers may have noticed that I am in a considerably better mood this morning. Could it be that happy Friday feeling? The short run I took on Thursday (another reason I was so tired)? The fact that I am typing words that are not whiny and embarrassing? Why am I questioning these things? I should just enjoy them.

She’s awesome!

I just now searched the Herkimer County Historical Society’s Facebook page for another photo to download. My laptop was taking forever to show me the pictures! Finally I found one of executive director Sue Perkins, giving one of their cemetery tours. I was only able to go on one of those tours but I loved it. I like the photo, too, because of the gravestones.

I guess this has become a kind of a Non-Sequitur Thursday post, which I feel is appropriate since I am making it Friday morning. And I got to plug Herkimer County Historical Society. I love them. I hope to see you all later, when I make my Lame Post Friday post. Late Happy Thursday!

Another Wine-y Post

Today was (is) National Drink Wine Day. I heard that on the news this morning, as did a number of my co-workers.

“Just to clarify,” I asked, “It is not Gluck Down The Whole Bottle At One Sitting Day, correct?”

A co-worker said she felt there should be no judgement. A kind, insightful woman,

No, I am not glucking down bottles but merely enjoying a glass. I only mention the fact because, well, this is my blog post and I don’t have a whole lot else to talk about. Judge me if you are so inclined.

Regular readers (if I still have any) know I have been having a difficult time lately, writing or doing almost anything else. I go through these patches. For the most part I keep making daily blog posts, because that is what I do. Sometimes they are whiny. Sometimes they are about wine. Some of them I label Non-sequitur Thursday, hit Publish, and drive on.

B Is Also For Blog

So I had my first full day of work since late October. I guess I am once again gainfully employed. However, I am being trained and am still on my probationary period. I am trying to remain positive, but this could still go south.

In the meantime, blog posts must be made. At least, my blog posts by me, to the best of my ability. Full disclosure: I am not feeling particularly able tonight. No matter. I will think of something.

It’s a Barista Bar!

I thought I would throw in a picture to pep things up. I was talking about this place to my mother earlier this evening. It is a lovely place to get coffee, located on Genessee Street in Utica, NY. I may write an article about it to submit to Mohawk Valley Living magazine.

Unfortunately, as I was talking to Mom, I could not remember the name of the place. Something fancier than “cafe.” I knew it began with a “b,” but all I could think of was “bistro,” and I knew that wasn’t it.

“It’ll come to me,” I said. It did not, till I saw the picture. “Barista Bar!” I exclaimed, which confused my husband, although he is used to me.

I could use a cup of coffee to pep myself up right now, but it would probably keep me up all night. On the brighter side, this post is over 200 words. I call that respectable for a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post. I hope to see you all again for Lame Post Friday.

Who Me? Be Silly?

Even a Yeti needs to put her feet up sometimes.

I do not know why this stupid Block Editor will not center my caption. It is very annoying, and detrimental to my self esteem to reflect that I cannot figure these things out. Additionally, I am REALLY ready to return to ten fingered typing.

And now I am.  I moved to my seldom-used laptop, carefully poised on my dining room table.  It must, it must continue to work while I am on unemployment, because my login and password are saved to the site where I put in for my weekly benefits.  Of course there are workarounds if I lose them or the laptop dies, but I am so unmotivated to follow them.  Enough of my computer woes.  I was about to make a Throwback Thursday Post, hence, a picture from December 2016.  The leggings are still intact, but I have completely worn out the awesome slippers.

It is a tradition for Steven to get me slippers for Christmas.  I always need them, and he picks such good ones.  It is hardly a throwback to show the ones he got me last year.

Recently seen in this space; recently heard in my house.

Incidentally, once on the laptop I switched to Classic Editor, and fixed the first illustration and caption.  Now my opening paragraph does not make any sense, but I will let it stand.  It will make a kind of a Non-Sequitur Thursday out of it.  In fact, today is kind of a non-sequitur for me, because I was thinking, “Ooh, a Throwback Thursday would be nice, but maybe I can have a Way Back Wednesday.”  Then I said, “Idiot, it IS Thursday!”  I should stop calling myself an idiot.  It is not very nice of me.

You see, it isn’t nice to call people idiots.

Now we’re really mixing things up:  Friday?  Tuesday?  I don’t know what day it is!  And this post is getting sillier and sillier.  But why not?  There are worse things to be.

Speaking of silly…

Here is one more Throwback picture, the Reindeer Run 5K in Little Falls, NY, from December 2017.  I am the silly one in the middle.  The Moose made a reappearance at the Turkey Trot 5K recently.  I fear there will be no Reindeer Run this year.  Perhaps I could do my own personal run.  I have a reindeer poncho, and I can use Map My Run on my phone to make sure I go for 5K.  I’ll be sure to make a blog post about it, with selfies.

In the meantime, I see I am over 400 words.  That is a lot for a foolish post.  No matter.  I shall hit Publish and look forward to Lame Post Friday.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Non Sequitur Stroll

I decided to take a walk with my phone (instead of my Tablet) for today’s Pedestrian Post.  Yes, it is the second post in a week of me taking a walk and snapping pictures.  That is why I am calling this a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post.

This tree previously had ghouls and skeletons hanging from it.

As I walked down German Street, I was a little sad to walk by a yard which had been very decorated for Halloween.  All that was left was a few brave yellow leaves!  So I took a picture.

A few more brave leaves.

Turning down North Washington Street, I tried to get a shot of a tree with leaves and a bare tree behind it.  I really love trees: green leaves, colored leaves, no leaves.

A bush by a bank, just to get alliterative.

I walked by my beloved Herkimer Historic Four Corners but did not see another photo op till I walked down Main Street the red bush caught my eye.  Then I took a picture of bare branches in front of colored leaves in front of Basloe Library, another favorite spot.

Yes, it is still fall.

I headed over to Prospect Street and on to Meyers Park, where I knew there was still one pretty tree.

I got this shot on Park Avenue.

I had noticed this guy on my walk to the post office this morning.

This little tree caught my eye as I left the park.

As I got closer to home, I took a picture of a tree near my house.  It is one of my all time favorite trees.

I need to get a better shot of this one.

It was a pleasant walk.  I am taking more walks than usual these days.  I think it is good for me.  I hope it is good for the blog as well!

Bare Bones of a Blog Post

Crap! WordPress picked today to impose its new editor on me, and I have no idea how to share a photo. I purposely took a photo for that title! Curse you, WordPress!

One of my favorite wines.

After great effort, I find out I can add a photo I took earlier of a glass of wine I poured myself. Of particular note is the wine stopper, which I purchased yesterday at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit. I wished I had a Halloween bottle to put on it, such as Vampire Pinot Noir or Werewolf Merlot. However, I thought the scary picture of the convict was good enough.

You know, that grass looks pretty green. I SO do NOT want to mow again.

I just shared this picture yesterday but thought it fit with the Bare Bones theme of the post. Readers of yesterday’s post know it was another purchase from Pumpkin Junction.

Who doesn’t love a picture of a skeleton with a duck and Santa Claus peeking in?

I wanted to add one more skeleton picture.

OK, here is my story of today’s post. I invented the title first, meaning to share the picture I took, to show off the skull stopper and point out that, yes, I am once again drinking wine. Then I get confronted with this new editor, which I have been studiously and successfully avoiding thus far. So I have coped as best I can at the time.

The beauty part is that it is Non-Sequitur Thursday, so not making sense in fact makes sense. I will strive to make my peace with this editor. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

What? No Nosferatu?

I had thought about making another Running Commentary Post, because I went for a long(ish) run, but then I thought a Throwback Thursday Post would be more fun.  Let’s see what I can find in my Media Library.

Why have I never run this again?

This is from the inaugural East Herkimer Fire Department 5K in October 2017.  I ran it and had a very good time.  For one reason or another I have not run it again.  I’ll have to look for it this year, if they have it.  You never know these days.

A favorite event in Little Falls, NY.

Here is a September event which has been sadly canceled this year, the Mohawk Valley Garlic and Herb Festival. Mmmm… garlic!

Another sight at the Festival.

Just thought I’d show some garlic as well.

Well, this is lopsided.  One 5K logo and three pictures of the garlic festival.  What else can I find?

A dramatic moment indeed.

You knew I would get back to theatre sooner or later.  This is a shot from Fabulous and Fatal, the murder mystery we presented to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society last October.  When, oh when, will my drama friends and I murder again?

One of my all-time favorite pictures.

I guess this is kind of a Scattered Throwback Thursday.  Oh wait!  It’s OK, because it is Non-Sequitur Thursday!  Phew!

Errands and Beer on Non-Sequitur Thursday

Today I went for a walk with a few stops to make.  I carried my Tablet thinking to take a few pictures to make a blog post.  We’ll see how well I did.

I hoped to get the hanging flowers in the shot.

My first stop was to pay our water bill.  I also took a picture of the memorial to K-9 Ape, who sadly died in the line of duty.

A very sad day in Herkimer history.

From there I walked down Main Street to Renewed and Rescued, a consignment shop which has expanded recently.  I was particularly interested in a vendor shot  occupieed by a friend.

I did not know how to get the picture without my reflection opin the mirror.

I mean to make a longer blog post about the various new vendors.  For today, I merely took some pictures and repaired to the End Zone Pub and Grub for a refreshing beverage.

This is a shot from a previous summer.

After enjoying a draft there, I decided to stop at Pete’s Tavern for one.  He has been doing some renovations and I wanted to check them out.

I did not get to sit at the bar today.

Another view showing the woodwork.

In the second shot, you really cannot see the neon signs.  In the meantime,  this is a few shots sharing with you my Thursday.   We shall see what I decide to share on Friday. As always, I hope you’ll all stay tuned.

It was an enjoyable afternoon.  I would now like to get on with enjoying my evening. I hope to see you all again on Lame Post Friday.

Non Sequitur Movies and Post

I was going to call this a Throwback Thursday Post to when I decided to watch old movies on my day off.  The only question is whether I will have sufficient pictures to make it interesting.

She is SO fabulous!

The first picture I see is of our second feature, Being Julia starring the wonderful Annette Bening.

Here is a revolting development:  I cannot find illustrations for Rear Window,  which we watched before, or Gosford Park, which we are watching now.

Point that portable keyhole!

I’ve loved Rear Window for years and often remember the first time I saw it, on a small black and white television in a crappy apartment in Potsdam, NY.  Yes, the good old days, when we were neither good nor old nor were they days, they were nights.

Love the 1920’s styles!

That took me a long time, to find appropriate  illustrations. The above is from Gosford Park, a rather delightful murder mystery set in the 1920’s,  one of my favorite eras.  I have written a couple of murder mysteries that take place in the 1920’s.  I do not rule out writing a few more.  People love the 1920’s.  Is it the beads?  Is it the booze?  Is it the fringey dresses?  Or is it the jazz music?   So much to love!

It is also very enjoyable to write a blog post about watching movies on a hot and sticky night.  Some people love summer.  I do not.  To each his own, as the old lady said when she kissed the cow.

Scattered Non-Sequitur Thursday?

Is it Thursday?  I got a few unexpected days off from work so am a little confused (cue unkind remarks about how this is not unusual). No matter.  Since Scattered Thursday is not a thing and Non-Sequitur Thursday is, we’ll go with that.

I went for a run this morning.  Virtual Boilermaker 15K, here I come!  A little later I went to AW Greenhouse and Garden in Little Falls, because I saw on Facebook they were having a sale.  I picked out a hanging plant and a couple four-packs of annuals.  I also grabbed a hunk of Garlic Cheddar Adirondack Cheese.  Yum!

Aren’t they beautiful?

I picked it for the cascading purple,  then noticed the other colors.  Lovely!  I will share pictures of the other plants when I get them, you know, planted.

Later this afternoon I went to the Hot Spot Salon and Spa in Herkimer for a pedicure.  Yes, I am quite incapable of painting my own toenails.  I think we have gone over this before.

I’ll be spending the next few days admiring my toes.

My husband, Steven, and I spent a nice amount of time in our deck.  We admired the weather and my container garden as well as my toenails.  And now I have managed at least 200 words of a blog post.  Phew!  Happy Thursday,  everyone!
