I Ran, Then I Slacked

How did it get to be after five on Saturday and not have my blog post done?  The best I can do is a Slacker Saturday post.  I’m not sure f I can even manage that, but I will try to include a picture or two, just to make things a little more interesting.

Herkimer County Court house, taken in March 2020.

I went for a run this morning,  hoping to make a Saturday Running Commentary post.  I ran by my beloved Herkimer Historic Four Corners,  and above is a picture of same, not taken during my run, of course.

Where I often feel I belong after a run.

Here is a picture of some of the graves around Herkimer Reformed Church, also part of the Historic Four Corners.  It is a lovely area.  I wrote a blog post about it years ago, long before I knew how to add pictures to a post.  When the weather gets a little better, and the ground less muddy, I will return and do a better post (preview of coming attractions).

Full disclosure:  I like wine.

I can’t find a better picture to close with,  so here is a shot of wine bottles on my counter.  Yes, I have been drinking wine while on quarantine.  And one reason I want to make this post: so I can feel free to enjoy some more. Happy Saturday,  everyone!

Ah Truman, You Were Right

I tried, I really tried to make my Saturday blog post on Saturday.  I wrote this much:

It is way past the time I usually make a blog post, and past my usual bedtime as well.  I went to a fundraiser for Team Rebecca of America’s Greatest Heart Run and Walk. We danced our butts off to our favorite local band, The Posers.  Now I am tired.

I wish I had some pictures to share, but I did not bring my Tablet.  I knew I would want to dance a lot and did not want to worry about leaving a device unattended.

Oh dear, I don’t know that I can make a full blog post now.  I am SO ready for bed.  Additionally,  I did not do much of anything else today so cannot make a Scattered Saturday post.  What the hell, me?

And that was as far as I got. As Truman Capote once said, that’s not writing, that’s typing.  Anyways, I realized it was after midnight so I would be making Saturday’s post on Sunday anyways, so there you have it. I am out of bed much later than usual, even for a Sunday, and I have a full day of chores ahead of me.  Will I do them all?  Will I do any of them?  A little suspense adds adds interest to my day.

In the meantime,  I am going to call this a Slacker Saturday post and drive on.  I shall drink some more coffee, and I hope you are all having a delightful weekend.

Scattered and Slacker Saturday

A pause in my Saturday gyrations to make a Scattered Saturday post.  I went for a run this morning,  thinking to do a Saturday Running Commentary post.  It was a pretty good run.  I am looking forward to the Reindeer Run 5K in December in Little Falls NY. But I need to do Running Commentary posts sooner after the run.

Later in the morning, Steven and I went to a Craft Fair at the Ilion- Frankfort VFW, sponsored by the Ladies of the Moose, who no longer have a lodge.  We returned later with our friend Kim.  There was also a stop at Stuff the Bus, a drink at the End Zone Pub and Grub and some wine tasting at Valley Wine and Liquor, all in Herkimer.

Well, this is what happens sometimes on a Saturday (oh, OK, other days as well).  I am too tired to make a decent blog post.  I want to get on with the bra off, sweats on, wine drinking, movie watching, couch sitting, knitting or crocheting portion of the evening.  Is that too much to ask?  Perhaps it is.  No matter.  For what it is worth, this is my post for the day.  I hope you will all tune in tomorrow.

Let’s Hear It For Friends!

Oh yes, it is Slacker Saturday,  after I could not even manage a Lame Post Friday.  I can’t even offer a good excuse (can I ever?  That’s a subject for another blog). In fact, I had a bad headache for most of the day, without doing much to deserve it, believe it or not (and you don’t need to tell me if you don’t!).  But one must be able to function with a headache, especially if one is me, because I often have a headache.

But I must not dwell on my physical ills. After all, we all have problems.

After a headache-filled beginning of the day, we had a lovely evening with our friends Jim and Phyllis.  I am so grateful for good friends!

A truly delightful couple.

This is a picture from a different fun time. I didn’t take any pictures tonight.  I was too busy visiting.

Here is a good theatre memory.

This is a picture of Jim and me in Morning’s at Seven at Ilion Little Theatre last spring.  Our scene together was my favorite part of a play in which I had all enjoyable scenes.

Jim and another murder suspect.

And here is Jim in A G.R.A.V.E. Murder, which we presented two years ago.  Jim is a marvelous actor.  I hope to act with him again soon.

And I hope to get together with Jim and Phyllis again soon.  Slacker Saturday it may be, but I had fun with my friends!

Scattered or Slacker? Who Knows or Cares?

OK, this will be a Slacker Saturday post, because it is late in the day, and I do not want to be another post behind.

I am sitting on my deck, relaxed and happy. Steven and I had a delightful day with our friend Kim. We went to a wine tasting at Valley Wine and Liquor in Herkimer, to lunch at the Main Street Ristorante and Gift Shop in Newport, to shop at Newport Marketplace, then for a drink at Newport Town Tavern.

After that  we returned to Steven’s and my house, where we sat on the deck and chatted some more about upcoming murder mysteries, among other topics.  We had a delightful time, as always with Kim.

After Kim departed to fulfill other commitments,  Steven and I adjourned to our living room, where we watched Curse of the Blair Witch .followed by The Blair Witch Project.  I am SO ready for the Halloween movie watching portion of the year.

I see I am NOT up to 200 words.  It will have to do for a Slacker Saturday.

Slacking on a Semblance of a Post

I was going to have a Scattered Slacker Saturday post.  I have done a few things this weekend so far and thought I could write some semblance of a post merely listing them. However, as I sit here typing one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet I must confess, this is not so. I do not want to make a blog post at all!!!

I can only hope it has been a while since I have done a post about “I Can’t Make a Blog Post Today,” because that is just about all I am up to today.  How utterly dreadful of me. But why should I worry?  It has happened before and will happen again.  As usual, we must make the best of things.

Today has been a day of highs and lows for me.  We had a great couple of performances as Mummers Along the Mohawk.  Additionally, I enjoyed some musical performances at the Great American Irish Festival in Frankfort,  NY.  Why should I not write a blog post about one of those things?

For one reason, I am tired.  I went running this morning and did a load of laundry which I hung out on the line.  It has been a hot and humid day.  I continued to have Mohawk Valley Adventures after the aforementioned performance. And I am not feeling in the happiest mood for reasons too tiresome to mention.

Well, never mind my unhappy mood.  These things change with the passage of time.  I have made, as I hoped, some semblance of a blog post.  I will attempt a better blog post tomorrow.   As always,  I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Doing the Doodah

We do the Doodah!

I open with a picture, because this post is going to be heavy on the illustrations,  light on words.  I am one tired blogger, but I hate to miss a day, so here we are on Slacker Saturday.  At least I didn’t slack out of being in the parade.  I did, however, slack to the extent of riding on the float instead of walking behind it.

For those of you just tuning in, the occasion was the Doodah Parade, part of the Ilion Days festivities.  I participated, as I have for the past three years, with Ilion Little Theatre.

Here’s a colorful pair.

I took all my pictures before the parade, as we milled around waiting to get started.  It was very warm and humid, but at least it had stopped raining.

My friend, Kim, looking gorgeous as usual.

Ilion Days’ theme this year was Clowning Around Ilion, so we had a circus-themed float.  However, we were invited to dress any way we liked.

We had a variety of get-ups.

I see now  I did not get as many pictures or as good pictures as I should have.  However, you’ll have that, especially when you’re dealing with me.

A lot of the kids had red noses.

A candid shot.

And another group shot.

I took this group shot, then the guy who drove the truck said I should be in the picture,  so he took the picture at the beginning of the post.

Ooh, look at this, I am over 200 words.  Maybe I’m not such a slacker after all.  Oh, I probably am.

So Scattered I Slacked

I had a fun filled Saturday.  Late in the day, I realized I had yet to make my blog post.  Now here I am, on Sunday morning (which may or may not match my WordPress timestamp; I don’t know how to fix these things), another poat behind.  I maintain my hopes of getting caught up.  We shall see.

I did not run Saturday morning, because I had to be in Little Falls by 9:30 and I wanted to be leisurely.   I was leisurely enough to write my post cards but not leisurely enough to walk to the post office with them.  Then I had a last minute crisis and was almost late anyways.

The event bringing me to Little Falls was  Where’s the Cheese Monger? the play by Angela Harris which enlivened the Little Falls Cheese Festival. During these two events, I also visited Meeples Mug House to enjoy a cool beverage.

Returning to Herkimer, I had a great meal and a few laughs with friends at Salvatore’s.  Then it was back home for the movie watching portion of the evening.  We enjoyed Straitjacket and The Lost Boys.  I was in the mood for scary movies.

I think it was in between movies that I remembered my blog post, alas, only briefly.  But here is my Saturday post only a day late.  I fully intend to make my Sunday post TODAY.  Ooh, maybe I could make an unprecedented third post and be on my way to being caught up at last. It could happen.

Then Again, At Least I Posted Something

So there I was (actually,  here I am,  since I haven’t moved, but “there I was” sounded better in my head), making my blog post about a tasting I attended at Valley Wine and Liquor in Herkimer.  I took a few pictures as well as copious notes. And I just don’t feel up to making a good blog post about it now.

I guess this makes this a Slacker Saturday post.  I tried not to slack too much today.  I worked on the lawn for what seemed like a long time.  I tried to make further progress in the house.  I mostly felt like hanging out,  knitting,  and watching television.   Or movies.   I can be flexible to that extent.

My question now is, have I worked hard enough all week to deserve a Slacker Saturday?   Probably not.  Then again,  who am I to decide what I do or do not deserve? I would not make such a judgement on somebody else.   Why should I treat myself with less consideration than I would treat some purely hypothetical stranger?

Now we are getting into half-baked philosophy more suitable for Lame Post Friday.  Then again, I did not successfully pose any such philosophical questions yesterday.  Why should I not philosophize (half-bakedly or otherwise) on any day of the week?  Discuss amongst yourselves.

In the meantime,  Happy Saturday,  and I hope to post about that tasting soon.

Adventures Eventually, Slacker Today

My computer woes continue, as do my brain malfunctions.   Once again I am typing one letter at a time with the stylus on mt Tablet.  As a matter of fact, I did that with one other post this week, only I didn’t brag about it.  Or is this whining about it?   No matter.  The important thing is that I am making my blog post, so I will remain one post behind and not go back up to two.

My husband Steven and I spent a good portion of the day having Mohawk Valley adventures.   One might think that would make a Scattered Saturday post eligible.   However,  one would be wrong.  I hope to make posts about our various adventures eventually.   I’m just not up to it right now.

Did I say something recently about getting my act together?  It seems to me I did.  Do you suppose that when one is in one’s mid fifties, as indeed I am, that it is too late to hope for such a thing?  Discuss amongst yourselves, or comment below, please.

All this by way of saying today is a Slacker Saturday.  Have I had one of those recently?  Obviously I am too much of a slacker to go back and check.

No matter, as I often say at times like this.  I am over 200 words. Regular readers know I consider that respectable.   Happy Saturday,  all.
