Is This Not a Lame Blog Post?

Hello and welcome to another Lame Post Friday post. Full disclosure: I am feeling particularly lame and brain dead this evening. However, I have had enough late posts lately, and there is no guarantee I will be any less brain dead in the morning.

I think I am finally going to have a weekend of NOT running around doing stuff. Of course a lot of the stuff I do is fun, or supposed to be (after all, everything can’t live up to expectations). It is supposed to be dangerously cold tomorrow, and we plan to spend the day at home not getting frost bite.

Hmmm…. It seems I plan a negative weekend: not running around, not getting frost bite. I wonder what else I will not do. There is a good chance I will not clean my house. I will probably not go running, because, you know, frost bite. I feel certain I will not fight with my husband, because I almost never do. I will not stream any videos, because I do not know how.

Those are things I might have been reasonably expected to do. Now I am thinking I should mention a few silly things. I will not enter a beauty pageant. I will not try to get a suntan.

I will not make any more foolish blog posts? No promises.

I Live for Theatre

Oops, another late post. Judge me if you are so inclined. Even thought it is now early Friday morning, I want to do a Throwback Thursday Post. In honor of Steven and I being in another play (as regular readers know), I will do a Theatre Throwback.

A lovely family group.

I couldn’t find a picture with both me and Steve, but here is a cast picture from the last time I was on the Ilion Little Theatre stage, Morning’s at Seven in 2019. It was a delightful experience.

I was helping him out with a personal problem.

This is one of my favorite scenes from Morning’s at Seven, with one of my favorite actors and people, Jim Mills.

It all begins with a read-through.

I took some pictures of Wednesday’s read-through, but this is a read-through from March of 2020. It was for a murder mystery that did not happen until 2021, but when this shot was taken, we had high hopes.

I have high hopes for our current theatrical endeavor, and high hopes that I can stop with the late blog posts. Will my hopes be realized? A little suspense adds interest to my day.

(Ooh, not quite 200 words.) (Now it is.)

Pre-Read-Through Post

I thought I would try for a blog post not late, not typed in at five the next morning. Hmmm… nothing is coming.

Tonight is the read-through for Game Show, the next play at Ilion Little Theatre. Steve and I both have parts. It is the first play we have done together, apart from murder mysteries, since 2016. We both have small but fun parts. Steven is the slime-bucket producer of the titular game show. I play Dolly, the feisty older woman who hopes to be a contestant. Some would say this is a stretch for Steven, not so much for me. However, although I admit to occasional feistiness, I do not think Dolly is all that much like me. Regarding Steven and slime-bucketry, I say nothing.

That was as much as I wrote at work today (while on breaks of course). Now I am sitting at my laptop, typing frantically before we have to go to said read-through. I am looking forward to doing more blog posts about the play, maybe even with pictures (must get to that upgrade for more space in my Media Library) (why is that taking me so long anyways? What’s my problem?) (Not enough blog posts in the world to answer that one!).

Where was I? Ah yes, 200 words. And an on-time blog post. Yay, me! On to the theatre!

Was I Chilling Out?

I’m back to my old tricks of late, foolish posts, but, as a co-worker likes to say, you’ll have that. At least, with this blog you will. I make no apologies but mention it with perhaps a bit of sheepishness. I intend to bill this as a Tired Tuesday Post, because I was in fact too tired to attempt event anything foolish.

Yesterday was the coldest day so far this winter. How the times have changed! I remember when Steve and I lived in the North Country (Norwood, NY to be exact). We would have stretches of days when the temperatures did not make it above zero. Oh, how happy we were when we got a heat wave of 2 degrees, and when we got to double digits — woohoo! And when we had to or wanted to leave the house (apartment), we damn well did and made no bones about it.

So much for the trip down memory lane. As the cliche goes, that was then and this is now. My point in bringing it up is that I blame yesterday’s tiredness on being cold all day long. My place of employment is not well insulated, and there is are large doors that open and close at irregular intervals. YES, I am happy I have a job! Please don’t start with the Just-Be-Thankful-Thats. You know who you are, and I find it a singularly annoying thing to hear.

Anyways, I have blathered on for at least 200 words (over 250 by the time I get to the end of this paragraph). Perhaps I should apologize about the dull content of the post. Bitching about winter weather in Central New York. How singularly unoriginal. I’ll blame it on brain freeze.

Late Monsters, Silly Post

It has not really been a particularly monstrous Monday. My struggles with depression continue. Still, there is no point in bogging down the blog with my petty complaints. Let’s see if I can find a good monster in my Media Library.

He is scary. I like him.

That is as far as I got on Monday. Well, what is wrong with a few late posts anyways? I suppose I could think of a few things, but we’ll let that slide.

Oh, this is Nosferatu, as many of you no doubt know. It has been 100 years since that wonderfully frightening silent movie made its first appearance. 1922. Regular readers may remember that 22 is my favorite number. It ought to bode well for the year, yet I confess to some feelings of trepidation (my $4 word for the morning).

Where was I? Ah yes, Monstrous Monday

Why choose a favorite? Can’t I have them all?

For the record, it is a lot easier to maneuver through my Media library on the laptop (dining-room-table-top, as regular readers may recall). Not to mention the joy of ten-fingered typing (sentence fragment, sue me).

Speaking of who can pick a favorite…

OK, three pictures, 200 words. I call that respectable. Now I have to finish getting ready for work. I hope you have enjoyed my silliness. I have. I find it alleviates the depression referred to in the first paragraph.

In Haste and By the Way

So I made Saturday’s post on Sunday, and here I am early Monday morning, trying to make Sunday’s post. Not too early, though, so I don’t have a lot of time to make a really good post. These things happen, and we must make the best of them.

What I wanted to share was this: Steve and I both got parts in Game Show, the next play at Ilion Little Theater. Yay and yikes! Can we learn our lines? Will we successfully develop believable characters? Will the Mohawk Valley weather allow us to get to rehearsals? For the answers to these and other burning questions (they are likely to be burning questions, because I will no doubt have another hot flash), tune in to the next post of Mohawk Valley Girl.

Rats!

I was doing so well posting every day, then last night I just fell asleep on the couch without posting. Now I have a dreadful headache from sleeping with my neck bent the wrong way. I shall try the effects of a hot shower in a bit, but I first thought I would post a quick little apology for missing a day.

Hmm…. I hope nobody reads my headline and thinks my house has rats. I do like to indulge in plays on words. Anyways, that gives me something to be thankful for: we don’t have rats and haven’t even seen any mice for a long time (hope I haven’t just jinxed myself).

So I guess yesterday was a Blogger’s Sick Day, even though I wasn’t exactly sick. I’ll try for a better blog post later. We did have a couple of Mohawk Valley Adventures yesterday.

I Hope I Wasn’t Lame at Auditions

I just returned from Ilion Little Theatre, where my husband Steve, our friend Kim, and I auditioned for a play. I was very excited to get onstage once again. The play is a comedy called Game Show. I think it is actually kind of silly, but that is by no means a bad thing in a comedy. With good actors and a good director, it will be a very entertaining production. The director is Stephen Wagner, who is a very good director. At tonight’s audition, there were some talented actors for him to choose from. So there is good news for community theatre tonight.

I do not remember who these people are.

I was looking through my Media Library for a picture of Ilion Little Theatre, and this was the best I could do. It is from the Doo-Dah Parade during Ilion Days of, I think 2018. I did not take any pictures of tonight’s auditions.

So I guess this is my Lame Post Friday post. I hope to improve my posts and my illustrations in the coming days. In the meantime, I reserve the right to feel pleased with myself for posting another day in a row. Happy Friday, everyone!

Will I Plant Flowers?

Time for a quick Throwback Thursday Post, if my Tablet will cooperate. It is beginning to move as slowly as my brain sometimes does. Yikes!

Pretty!

Here is a picture from June 2020 and my last container garden. I could not get it together in 2021 (why does that goddam autocorrect always lop off the 2? It even did it just now when I was going to finish that question with “at the beginning of numbers”). It brings to mind one of my favorite New Year’s cartoons, which features this dialogue :

First guy: What do you think the new year will bring?

Seccond guy: Flowers.

First guy: Why do you think that?

Second guy: Because I am planting flowers.

I still wear the same leggings, socks, and sneakers.

This is another shot from 2020 (again witth the disappearing 2!) (Twice!). Perhaps it would have been better to continue with the flower theme, but the image of leisure rather appealed to me. I may not have much lounging time in the foreseeable future. However, in a few months I hope to find time to plant a few flowers.

Wednesday Night, What Else Is New?

Here is yet another short post about our Wednesday Night Thing of going to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY for great food and music. It was our favorite, Phil Arcuri.

He’s so fun!

This is a picture of a previous appearance, but it was the same wonderful Phil. He is so fun to watch, and he loves his fans. He incorporated my name into “Under the Boardwalk.” When he sang “Margaritaville,” it was all Steve’s fault. And after we “Sha-la-la-la’d” with him, it was his green-eyed girl, instead of the usual brown-eyed.

As always, we enjoyed delicious food. Steve had a shrimp basket while I tried a Cuban wrap. Yum! We also had an enjoyable conversation with another fellow sitting at the bar.

Fratello’s Pizzeria is located at 158 E. Main St. In Frankfort, NY, phone number 315-894-8484. They are open 11 a.m. to 0 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 to p.m. on Sunday.
