Picture Shopping

I love shit like this!

How about a Wordless Wednesday Post?  Of course, I am never entirely wordless.  However, earlier this afternoon, I stopped by Mohawk Valley Community Market and took several pictures.  The above was taken just as I walked through the door.

Santa Claus is coming to town!

The sign in the chair said when Santa will visit, but I did not make a note.  No doubt you can find out via their Facebook page.  I am sure social distancing rules will apply.

The handy site map was new since my last visit.

Is that gorgeous or what?

Here’s some beautiful glassware!

Of course I had to check out my friend Gil’s spot, One of a Kind by GS.

Renewed and Rescued, the original inhabitant of the space.

This is where they used to have clothes.

One last incidental table that caught my eye.

I love vendor marts like this, because you always see something different.  I will no doubt be back to Christmas shop.

Mohawk Valley Community Market is located at 140-142 N Main St., Herkimer, NY.  They are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday,  10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Special hours may be in force for this weekend, but they will be open and obviously ideal for Shop Small Saturday.

Who, Me, Write?

I thought to myself, it has been a while since I have made a post about not being able to make a post. Ooh, I really CAN’T make a post today: I just re-wrote that last sentence four times! Yikes! My third sentence was going to refute the idea that I cannot make a post, BUT…

The fact is, I am completely disgusted with my inability to write lately. No, that is healthier than what I feel. Rather, I am disgusted with myself for not writing.

And there we have it. How can I write when I am clearly too disgusting of a person to do any such thing? Who wants to read anything written by a disgusting person? And so my thinking goes. Downward spirals are so easy to start, and even easier to maintain.

Intellectually, I know Not Writing does not make me a contemptible person. Many people do not write. The world is no doubt saved a lot of very dull writing thereby. Oh dear, that is not the direction I meant to take. I do not want to feel better about not writing. I WANT TO WRITE!

And here I am writing, and approaching 200 words. I can work on quality as I go. For now, I will call this a Tired Tuesday Post, hit Publish, and drive on. I will attempt to continue to write. Or continue to attempt to write. A future blog post may attempt to delineate the difference.

I Muddle Through Another Monday

These are my people.

I have been watching Deadly Women on Investigation Discovery and wondering what sort of a blog post I should make. After sharing pictures from horror movies yesterday, I did not want to make a Monstrous Monday Post. I did not run, so no Rumming Commentary Post. Perhaps a Muddled Monday.

Bonita loves to dress for the season.

Or I could just throw in a picture of our skeleton, Bonita. Her little friend usually gets put away with the Halloween stuff, but this year he had fallen on the floor and I missed him. Look how happy he is to get to stay out for Christmas!

I just put the boa and scarf on Bonita today. I’m afraid the gold scarf looks more like a pirate than a fashionista, but at least the color is right.

It’s a party!

I backed up to show a couple more of Bonita’s friends. We usually put Santa on the porch, but I wanted a little more light at that end of the room. Burt the Birtday Gorilla could probably use a red hat or something. I’ll work on it.

I did a few other chores today, job search and household. I have nothing major to report yet. I hope to wait until I actually have something to report and not make any cryptic Facebook posts like, “Time to make a big decision!” But no promises.

In the meantime, I am over 200 words. I say score, even for a Muddled Monday!

Note to Self: Get a Chaise Lounge

Here I sit, watching Berserk, Joan Crawford’s penultimate movie and wanting to make a blog post. I refrained from having Lame Post Friday, but I am afraid this will be Wrist-to-Forehead Sunday. I would like nothing better than to swoon on a handy chaise lounge, posed dramatically with the back of one wrist against my forehead.

There’s my Joan!

I don’t have a picture from Berserk in my Media Library, so I add one from I Saw What You Did. I find this one sufficiently dramatic for the occasion.

She looks pretty berserk here.

I add this shot from Straitjacket just for good measure. Who doesn’t love Joan Crawford with an axe?

I think it must be pretty clear that I am tired. In fact, if I did have a chaise lounge to swoon upon, I don’t know that I have the strength to get my wrist up to my forehead. I say there is no point in swooning if you cannot pose dramatically. But maybe I can find another picture to entertain.

The middle one is me headed for bed.

I swerve into non-sequitur territory with a picture of zombies. Joan Crawford never did a zombie movie. I expect I’ll be too tired to pop in Night of the Living Dead after Joan is done going Berserk. But perhaps I can summon enough energy to swoon properly.

Late Post from a Lush

So last night I was going to drink and type, only it didn’t work out for me.  So here is what I did last night.

I don’t know any of these people.

This is my view from Cacciatore’s Ristiorante in Ilion, NY. I was there with my friend Kim, celebrating my birthday a day early.  We had wine and garlic pizza with sausage and extra cheese. Yum!

What a lush I look like!

The shirt arrived at my house via DHL.  I still don’t know who sent it.  And of course I wore my tiara in honor of the day.

My lovely friend Kim.

So here is my short, late Saturday Post.  Judge me if you are so inclined, but please have a pleasant Sunday.

Thank You, Jamo’s!

Since it is Friday, I thought I would go to Happy Hour and write a blog post about it. This decision was not arrived at without a great deal of dithering. Had I earned such a treat? Was this the smartest move considering I am subsisting on unemployment benefits? What about my weight loss goals?

On the other hand, we need to support our local businesses during these uncertain times. Additionally, I could walk to and from my destination, thus getting much needed exercise. With these arguments floating around in my head, I set out for Jamo’s Restaurant and Bar in Herkimer, NY.

I have not been here in a while.

I arrived shortly before four, to find out they open at four. That suited me, because Happy Hour also started at four, so I sat down on the bench to wait. I took a picture of my view while I waited.

I thought the clouds looked cool.

At four I went in, sat at the bar, ordered a glass of wine, and perused the menu. Stupidly, I set my purse on the bar. I was startled by the crash when it fell over, breaking my wine glass.

I am embarrassed to admit, I burst into tears. I have been very emotional lately. The waitresses could not have been nicer. They got me a fresh place setting and a new glass of wine. What the hell, me? I am usually much better at rolling with the punches. When somebody breaks a wine glass at my house, I say, “Oh, that’s all right.” For some reason it is much worse when I do it.

This glass survived the evening.

I guess that picture turned out a little dark, but it will have to do. I ate some Boneless Wings with Everything Sauce and brought leftovers home. It was a pleasant interlude, and I still have time to watch a monster movie.

Jamo’s Restaurant and Bar is located at 123 Mohawk St., Herkimer, phone number 315-866-1746.

Monsters after Migraine

I look like one and feel like the other.

I am at the end (I hope) of a day long migraine but do not want to miss making a blog post. I thought I could manage a Throwback Thursday Post then thought it had been a while since I did monsters. How about Throwback Monsters? It! Could! Work! (That is a quote from Young Frankenstein, in case you didn’t know.)

“This is a good boy!”

I can tell I am getting old, because I can remember when Young Frankenstein was in theatres, and now it is an old movie. Perhaps we could substitute the term “vintage.”

“Who me? Old?”

Here is an even more vintage monster, my favorite, Nosferatu. He is scary, yes.

“Swimming, anyone?”

My post is becoming increasingly random as I just look for monsters and put them in. I say it is better than spending the entire post whining about my migraine. Is it? Discuss amongst yourselves.

I Walk, I Blog, I Interview

Winter returned to the Mohawk Valley, as regular readers may have noticed. I did not go for a run this morning, because I heard streets would probably be slippery. Additionally, I had a job interview. I walked to the job interview and multi-tasked to the extent of taking a few pictures for a blog post.

Isn’t he cute?

Full disclosure:. I did not intend to take any pictures till the snowman caught my eye. How could I resist?  I had left my house with plenty of time, so I paused to take a long shot down German Street.

You can’t see the snow on the trees as well as I’d like.

I confess to enjoying the winter wonderland.  I further confess to the fact that I was walking because I did not want to brush off and scrape my car.  I guess I am up to admiring but not actually dealing with.  So sue me.

Ooh, this one came out better than I thought.

I was early enough that I decided to walk around the block.  I had run down this street recently, and I soon encountered a vine I had almost run into.  Naturally I took a picture,  as you see above.

Black-eyed Susans!

I thought I was done taking pictures, but these remains of Black-eyed Susans tempted me.  I’ll have to get a shot of my own flower patch.

I was still early for my interview, which seemed to go very well.  Of course that doesn’t mean I got the job, but at least it was a pleasant experience.  So I continue to count my blessings,  and I’ll keep you posted.

Yummy Lunch

Today I drove to Ilion, NY (which is very close to Herkimer, where I live, in case you didn’t know) to actually apply for a job in person. After getting frustrated filling out online applications, it was almost a pleasure to sit and fill in the blanks. I even got to keep the pen, so score!

Of course, it is not truly a pleasure to have to look for a job, so I decided to treat myself to lunch at Sorrento’s Pizzeria and Restaurant. For another reason, I feel I need to support our local businesses. Are these mere rationalizations to have a yummy lunch? Go ahead and think that if you like, Judgy McJudgerson!

I wore my mask till I was seated at a socially distanced table. I ordered Greens Francesca, which were on special. Yum! I overheard another patron ask the waitress if they could pretend it was Monday so he could order the Monday special. She said no, because she worked open to close on Monday and did not want to do that again.

At one point the lights flickered. I said it meant the place was haunted. The waitress said, no, it was because it was the wrong bulb for the fixture. I liked my explanation better.

I enjoyed my lunch and took leftovers home. Maybe I can find a recipe for greens and make some myself at home. Maybe I can find a locally owned place to purchase the greens. That will be worth another blog post!

Sorrento’s Pizzeria and Restaurant is located at 86 Central Ave, Ilion, NY, phone number 315-894-9991. They are open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Not Much of a Walk

I walked to the post office twice today.  On the second trip, I thought I would take a few pictures for a Pedestrian Post.  It turned out to be not such a pleasant stroll, but I did take a couple of pictures, so I’ll see if I can manage a few words.

I don’t know why that entire paragraph is indented.  I’m on the Classic Editor, dammit!  I tried to fix it but cannot.  Never mind, on with the post.

For the first walk I wore a sweatshirt under a rain jacket.  It was a comfortable combination at the time.  Unfortunately,  I was having a hot flash when I left the second time.  This rain jacket is too hot!  Take it off!  So I did.  A block away from my house I wished I had not but continued my walk, hoping for another hot flash.

This is a good one!

I always admire snowball bushes after the season.  They turn brown so nicely! I paused to take a picture of one I particularly liked.

The wind picked up, and I began to really regret leaving the rain jacket home.  What the hell was I thinking?  Why do I do these stupid things?  Thus I rendered my walk even less enjoyable.

Smaller but still nice.

I paused to take a picture of another bush, then got myself home as quickly as I could without giving myself shin splints (which is just the sort of stupid thing I am likely to do).

As you may guess, I am not having the best of days today.  Of course it is my own fault.  Operator Error, the story of my life!  No matter.  We can only do the best we can and hope for a better day tomorrow.
