Too Much Turkey to Type!

Must… make… blog… post…

You know, like in a super hero comic book, or graphic novel or something.  I am VERY tired and SO tempted to just bag it.  After all, I made a blog post earlier. True, it was not today’s blog post, but must we be didactic about these things?

How good of a blog post do I need to make on a holiday, anyways?  Well, considering the low quality of most of my recent offerings, I guess it could go either way.  Perhaps I SHOULD make a decent post since so many others have been foolish.  On the other hand, if this is another foolish post, it will only be par for the course.

It might be nice to make a Thanksgiving post, saying how grateful I am for things.  I am SO grateful for my family.  I got to see almost all of them today.  That is, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.  I’d like to see some aunts, uncles and cousins sometime too.  Then again, how many people can you reasonably visit with in a day?  At least I got a lot of hugs.

It is difficult to blog after a heavy dinner, two pieces of pie and, yes, a few glasses of wine. But  I can’t feel too bad about another foolish post.  I feel wonderfully happy, because I had a delightful day.  Happy Thanksgiving,  everybody!

Late, Lame, and Like a Friday

It turns out yesterday was Wuss-out Wednesday.  I fell asleep on the couch without making my blog post.  I have been wanting a lot of sleep lately (cue jokes about my sorely needing beauty rest).  Well, yesterday was kind of like Friday, because I am off work today, so why don’t I dash off a traditional Lame Post Friday post, with random observations and half-baked philosophy.  Traditional kind of fits, too, since today is Thanksgiving.

One random observation I have been making lately is that people are putting up their Christmas decorations.   I LOVE Christmas decorations!  Some folks say it is too early, please can we wait till after Thanksgiving.  This leads me neatly into some half-baked philosophy.

Quite frankly, I can see the point of the Please Wait crowd.  I have been known to speak sternly to those that start talking about Christmas in October.  “Halloween!” I beseech them, “Wait till after Halloween!”

We could go on to ponder how we got to be in such a rush, or why some of us feel the need for three months of Christmas, and how much of this is a profit making scheme of big retail.  Oh, that sounds like a lot of trouble for a late post.

Anyways, I want to go running, and I believe it is not currently precipitating, so I need to get while the gettin’, as they say, is good.

Don’t Walk, Run! At Least Don’t Whine!

My health woes continue, and I am just going to have to keep annoying people about them.  I actually felt a little better today.  True,  I kept saying to myself, “Holy crap, I feel like shit,” sometimes mixing it up a little and saying, “Holy shit, I feel like crap.”  But I did not feel desperately ill all the time.

I hoped I would be able to manage at least a short run.  Yesterday  I did not try to run but after writing some post cards tried to walk with them to the post office.  I got about two houses away when my body said, “Oh please, no.”  I cravenly turned around (no autocorrect,  I do not mean “gravely” when I typed “cravenly”).

I can see I am still not back up to blogging ability.  I just spent two paragraphs whining about being ill (ill, not I’ll, dammit!), and I haven’t even gotten to my run yet.  Maybe I should throw in a picture,  so this post has a shot at some entertainment value.

“Oh woe! Oh anguish!”

This is how I often pose with a headache, but I fear I am nowhere near this skinny.  Maybe if I went on a few more runs.

This was Halloween.

I was looking through the photos on my Tablet for something else for this post when I accidentally hit this one. I like it, though, so it can stay.

OK, today is the second day of a three day week for me.  That means it is Tuesday (the day it actually is), Wednesday (the middle day of the week), AND Thursday (because tomorrow is “Friday”).  That means I can call this a Non-Sequitur Thursday post.  Yes!

I Made It To 200 Words!

I guess it’s Monstrous Monday after all.  Never mind why; explanations are tiresome. I just needs me some Nosferatu.

“You were looking for me?”

Well, that took a little scrolling through my Media Library.  I may not make my usual goal of 200 words, but I will share a few more monsters.  Who doesn’t love monsters?  Oh I know some people don’t,  but why would they read my blog?

Joan would like to axe you a question.

Here is a monster of the human variety, Joan Crawford in Straitjacket.  A William Castle movie about axe murders, what’s not to like?

I love the coloring.

Here are a few scenes from House on Haunted Hill,  another wonderful Castle flick. I just don’t imagine the skeleton is any relation to our Bonita, who graced yesterday’s post,  although I do see the resemblance.

“I know you were looking for me.”

Regular readers might have expected to see The Brain from Planet Arous, which I often show when I seem to be posting without getting much use out of my own.

OK, I tried not to say it, but I will:  I am STILL not feeling well.  I must learn how to write when I am ill.  And I will.  Starting tomorrow.

No Regrets on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

Even skeletons have their moments of high drama.

After our skeleton Bonita slipped a little, I posed her so she could have a wrist to forehead moment.  Then I realized I must take a picture and use it for my Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.

As I mentioned in what should have been my Saturday post, we had a perfectly marvelous time last night.  I have a dreadful headache today.  Too much Chardonnay?  A continuation of my cold symptoms?  It matters not, I just hope it goes away soon.

Bonita in happier times.

I guess I don’t have a whole lot else to say.  Great time last night, headache today, here’s a skeleton.  Sounds like a typical blog post.

Some of the best friends anybody could have.

Here is a picture from last night at the Waterfront Grille in Herkimer with our friends.  I took more pictures, but most of them came out pretty dark.  And, foolishly, I did not have anyone take a picture of me.  There is only one selfie, and I am not good at selfies, especially after a couple of glasses of Chardonnay.

Oh well, I guess I might as well let you see me looking ridiculous.

I strive to go through life with no regrets.  That last glass of wine may have been a mistake, but no matter.  It was a lovely time, followed by a not bad Sunday.  Bring on Monday!  After a good night’s sleep,  of course.

My Bad

I guess not posting on Saturday is a thing now. Of course I had better intentions, I always do! In fact, I typed in the following early yesterday evening:

I thought I could make a Scattered Saturday post before leaving for dinner with friends.  I had meant to make a Saturday Running Commentary post, having had a pretty good run this morning.  My in-head narration was pretty good, if I recall.

I’m sitting on my couch, typing one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet, wearing a black sheath dress with pantyhose, with a fan on me, because of course I am having a hot flash. I hope that gives you the picture, because I am not taking a selfie.

Just as an aside, I am not one to have a Little Black Dress I wear for any and all occasions.  I prefer color. However, my wardrobe is in bad shape these days.  I picked up this dress at a rummage sale, untried-on, because it was fill three bags for a dollar day. What could I lose?

I am pairing my black dress with a many-colored blazer.  For accessories I have gold beads, a gold topaz bracelet, and three different elegant earrings.

And that was when Steven said we had better get going, so I saved it and got going.  What a lovely time we had!  I should write a blog post about it.  But first, I shall publish this draft, as my Sorry About Saturday post.  Hey, that sounds like a new category for Mohawk Valley Girl!

Is a Lame Post a True Crime?

Hello and welcome to Lame Post Friday.  As I logged into WordPress, the words, “Stay tuned for Lame Post Friday” were in my head.  I was actually thinking of waiting till tomorrow and making two posts, as I have done a regrettable number of times. But, no, I am awake and post I must (as I proofread this, I felt an impulse to put, “I am awake and a post I must make,” but I never like doing Yoda talk just to make a rhyme.  Did I do right?  Discuss amongst yourselves) .  Unfortunately,  once again, I got nuthin’.

My sinus infection seems to have morphed into a bad, bad cold.  Why does a cold sometimes feel like the most debilitating illness possible?  I’m guessing that it usually does not, but some of us are bigger babies than others (yes, I mean ME).

So I spent most of the day lounging around or trying to nap, and feeling grateful that I was not at work, where lounging and napping are frowned upon,  to say the least.  Later on I felt well enough to go to a wine tasting at Valley Wine and Liquor and to dinner at Salvatore’s in Herkimer.

Now I am at home and half watching a Dateline: Secrets Uncovered which I believe I have seen before.  I know I have seen a Snapped and read a book about the case involved.  I do love true crime.

So here is my extremely lame blog post.  As always, I will try to do better tomorrow.

Feeling Monstrous Once Again

Another day, another symptom!  But I must not spend my time whining and feeling sorry for myself.  How ridiculous am I, anyways?  Other people have way worse physical ills than I do.  Oh well, they can look at me and feel quite superior.  Today it was my nose running like a keg at a frat party (and I know some folks prefer we say “fraternity;” get over it!).  Fellow sinus sufferers have felt my pain.

Never mind that, I have a blog post to make.  I am going to follow my own maxim of “When in doubt, add monsters.”

Everybody’s favorite monster man!

My stylus accidentally highlighted this photo as I scrolled through my Media Library.  While Vincent Price is not exactly a monster, I believe his monstrous credentials are unquestionable.

Dr. Praetorious and his experiments.

This picture raises the question which is the real monster?  The creatures grown out of I never heard what, or the creepy guy who grew them?  In any case, it makes me want to watch Bride of Frankenstein again.

Isn’t that a charming smile?

I close with a happy face.  I don’t know which movie this is from.  I believe the original Wolf Man was more tormented.  That is another I need to watch again soon.  Claude Rains and Lon Chaney Jr., even if it is kind of sad, what’s not to like?

So I’m going to call this a Non-Sequitur Thursday post.  But can I think of a good headline?  How monstrous if I cannot!

So I Ran Today

I thought I would attempt a Running Commentary post in lieu of my usual Wuss-out Wednesday.  For one reason, I knew it would be a really good idea to run, with the Reindeer Run 5K a mere three weeks away.  For another reason, I enjoyed my weekend runs SO MUCH, I wanted more. I knew, however, that I was not guaranteed more.  Mid-Week runs are often less fun.  And yet, they are an evil that must be endured.

Originally I had thought to do what I often do during these runs:  put a load of laundry in the washer, run, then put it in the drier before my shower.  Unfortunately,  I felt too tired to do both laundry and run.  Run won.  I could not and did not promise to run very far.  Twenty minutes would be good, fifteen would be acceptable,  less might be settled for.

Right away it was not a fun run.  My body did not want to participate.  As usual in these cases, I persevered.  I reminded myself that I had taken two days off, never the best idea.  I turned left instead of right onto German Street as I had planned. I most often turn left and thought an unfamiliar route would feel less onerous.

My strategy worked.  I was narrating in my head as I ran, always a helpful technique for me. For one reason, I mentioned in my narration how the run got easier as I went.  I knew I could make 20 minutes, and I soon felt I could do more.

I made it for 25 minutes, which I felt pretty good about.  And now I have a blog post. Phew!  Happy Wednesday,  everyone!

Deadly Women on Tired Tuesday

I loves me some Deadly Women!

I open with this picture, because I am posting while watching Deadly Women on ID.  I don’t usually like re-enactmentfests, as I call them, but this one is fun.  I like Candace DeLong, who hosts.

For anybody who wonders if I am still feeling sick and whining about it, well, yes.  I’m  trying not to whine too much, with some small success.  Hot tea with lemon and honey helps.  So will going to bed early, especially if I can have that frisson of virtue from making my blog post.

Ah, but can I truly enjoy the frisson if my blog post is stupid?  Quick, Cindy, say something entertaining!

Sexy ladies, no?

Here are some deadly women of the theatrical variety.  At least, it is me and two friends in 1920’s garb for the Ritz and Ragtime at Rutger Park fundraiser.  Each of us has been the murderess for one or another of my murder mysteries, although no untimely deaths occured at the time this picture was taken.

She was pretty hot. I believe she still is.

Here is a theatrical version of a real life deadly woman (though some would say she was just a girl).   Ellen McQueeney went to school with my husband back in the day.  She is very beautiful and talented.  I recently saw a true crime show about Amy Fisher.  Although they talked about the media frenzy which ensued, they did not mention the musical.

So here is my Tired Tuesday blog post.  I hope I have entertained.
