Merely Monday Memories

Feeling in a sentimental, not to say maudlin mood, I thought to make a Monday Memories Post.  For one reason, a fun picture showed up on my Facebook On This Day.

I am the one in green.

This was Much Ado About Nothing,  presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company at the Utica Zoo in 2016.  The picture was shared by my late, dearly missed friend Phyllis.  I think I have a really good picture of her somewhere.

Cheers to friendship!

Here we are the following summer at Gerber’s 1933 Tavern in Utica, NY.  I must make my way back there again.

Three fine gentlemen.

Here are my late, beloved husband Steven, Phyllis’ husband Jim, and our bartender Larry.  Fun times!

I was just wearing those pants yesterday.

Here is one more shot of Much Ado at the Zoo, as we called it in the publicity.  I also played Friar Francis but, alas, have no pictures. Or do I?

There I am, not front but center!

This one is also courtesy of Phyllis via Facebook.

Just a note regarding my opening paragraph:  regular readers will understand my quandary.  With my great love for alliteration, it was a little difficult for me to say I was not maudlin.  But maudlin is really not a great way to be.  So we’ll just say Monday Memories and leave it at that.

Lame Old Me

Last night I felt too tired to make my Lame Post Friday post, and I am justly served for my laziness, because I have a dreadful headache this morning.  Two lousy glasses of Chardonnay!  I feel most ill-used.  Sorry to bitch about it, but you know how it is.

Pretty!

I looked for a cheerful picture in my Media Library to counteract my whining.  These are my Black-Eyed Susans in August 2017.  The patch does not look nearly as nice this year, but I was happy to get at least some blooms.  I have fallen down dreadfully in the yard and garden department these past few years.  Little by little, I try to improve the situation.

Me, trying to improve the situation.

I used this illustration before with the caption, “Me, hacking away at the overgrowth.”  It amused me so much, I thought I would repeat it for the benefit of anybody that missed it the first time.

Actors at work.

I was looking for a summer activity, so I could also make this a preview of coming attractions.  I found this from when a few members of LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company,  met at Mangia Macrina’s Pizza in Little Falls, NY to run lines for Love’s Labour’s Lost.  I had actually started to go home, but turned around and joined them.  Alas, no LiFT or Shakespeare appear to be in my near future, but theatre is.  And possibly a pizza from Mangia Macrina’s.

OK, one more Shakespeare picture.

Pre-Rehearsal? Post-Rehearsal? It’s a Post!

I just remembered that I was going to do a Pre-Rehearsal Post today.  However, I do not think I can manage to make a blog post and get ready for rehearsal.  How ready do I have to be, you may ask.  Well, I think I should at least wear something other than the old lady cotton shift I put on after my shower.  I don’t know if “shift” is the right word.  It is not quite a dress nor a nightie nor even a robe.  I shall not enlighten you with a selfie.

That paragraph certainly told you a lot about the play I’m in.

Different play, same hammy me.

This picture showed up in my Facebook Memories, and I said, “Hey, why was that never in my blog?”  My late husband, Steven, had shared it, tagging me.  I do not know where he got it.  Anybody who read yesterday’s post may recall that the play shown was The Tempest,  presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company in the summer of 2017.

That was as far as I got pre-rehearsal.  Before rehearsal actually started, I got a migraine.  My director told me to go home, a direction I gratefully followed.

In future posts I hope to tell more about rehearsals, taking a few pictures with my Tablet (although I fear I will never be in such a dramatic costume as pictured above).  For now, at least I have made a post, and (knock wood) my migraine seems to be in abeyance.

Wuss-Out or Way-Back, At Least it’s still Wednesday!

I might just as well admit I am having a bad patch of days.  I feel down.  I feel tired.  I have no energy or ambition to do anything.  So I guess this will be a Wuss-out Wednesday Post.  And I am kind of forcing myself to make it on Wednesday instead of early Thursday morning.

However, I have gotten a whole paragraph pecked in and have not backspaced it out, so there’s that.

I am the one in the purple cape.

I thought it would be nice to make it a Way-Back Wednesday Post as well so found this picture in my Media Library from August 2017.  It is the cast of The Tempest as presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company.  It was a fun show.  I need a little more Shakespeare in my life.

You can see me better in this one.

Tomorrow I have my first real rehearsal for The Man in the Bowler Hat,  the one-act I am in as part of An Evening of Timeless Comedy at Ilion Little Theatre.   I do not know my lines yet.

Regular readers may notice that I am not at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort for music and food, as I often am on a Wednesday.  I actually fixed my hair and put on a cute outfit including earrings, but I just could not get myself out the door.  These things happen, I suppose.

In the meantime, I see I am over 200 words.  Not too much of a Wuss-out after all.

Tempest, Jail, and Late Blog Post, Doodah! Doodah!

Yesterday I finished making my Wednesday blog post Thursday morning (I had at least started it Wednesday night) and wondered if anyone would notice if I did not mention it.  Today (Friday) I thought I would mention that I am making Thursday’s blog post late (I did not even start it on the day) and try to pass it off as a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post.  So far so good.

“I don’t always make my blog posts late, but when I do I like to be Shakespearean.”

As I often do, I throw in a picture to pep things up.  This is my friend, Tucker, looking like The Most Interesting Man in the World (are they still running those ads?).  This was before a performance of The Tempest by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company.  Now I have a Throwback Thursday Post.  Cool.

Is that mistletoe he’s standing under?

Rather than make it a pure theatre throw back, I add a picture of my late, dearly missed husband Steve posing at Herkimer’s Historic 1834 Jail.  We often walked by Herkimer’s Historic Four Corners.  They say it is haunted, but we never saw a ghost.  That would have been cool.

Who me? Be silly?

I thought I would end with a picture of me.  Here I am about to participate in the Ilion Days Doodah Parade with Ilion Little Theatre.  This year’s Ilion Days begin this weekend, but ILT is not participating in the Doodah Parade.

So this nonsense has me approaching 250 words.  Score!  If only I could think of a catchy headline.

Pre-Boilermaker Slacking

I had my last pre-Boilermaker run this morning.  A little over a mile and a half, 22 minutes (incidentally, my favorite number).  Then I pretty much slacked for the rest of the day.  Eventually I wrote a few post cards and walked them to the post office, taking the long way back for a 22 minute walk, a little over one mile.  I did a load of laundry, surprisingly not during either the run or the walk (as regular readers know, my favorite multi-task).  I did the dishes.

Now I sit, lounged on my couch, drinking more water (hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, they say) and wondering if it really is essential to eat pasta the night before a big race.  I know it is traditional to “carb up” at such times, but is it science?  Or is it merely psychological?  You see, it is very warm for me to think about cooking something to eat.  Additionally, I do not want to dirty more dishes.

Me, pondering the worth of effort in the heat.

I thought a picture would pep things up. This is me in Love’s Labour’s Lost last summer with LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company.  It was pretty hot then, too.  My costume was supposed to have another layer, but there was no way I could stand it.  It was impractical anyways, since I played two roles and had to change.  But I digress.

Getting back to the Boilermaker 15K in Utica tomorrow, I am looking forward to it, despite my usual trepidations of parking, timing, and should I really be eating spaghetti tonight.  I hope to have fun and write a blog post about it.  In the meantime I am going to bill this as a Slacker Saturday (although my digression into theatre may make a Non-Sequitur Saturday eligible) and drive on.  Happy Saturday,  everyone!

Love’s Memories Not Lost

I want to have a Theatre Throwback Thursday Post and I do not care if I have thrown back to these memories many times before.  I saw some pictures yesterday when I was looking through the pictures in my Tablet, and I enjoyed them very much, if briefly.  I would like to enjoy a few of them some more today, and I hope my reader’s will enjoy them too.

Nice lunge, Tucker!

This is a rehearsal shot from Love’s Labour’s Lost, which was presented by LiFT,  Little Falls Theatre Company last summer.  I hope LiFT strikes again this summer (wouldn’t that make a great blog post title, “LiFT Strikes Again”?) (of course “strike” also means to take down a set, and we didn’t exactly have a set).

She’s not having any of it.

These were two of my favorite characters in the show.  Then again, I loved all the characters.

A mysterious lover!

This is one of my all time favorite pictures.  I think we should carry fans as accessories more often.

A most amusing pair.

I wanted to include a picture with costumes.  Well, maybe more than one.

Several cast members.

And here’s me.

I do love being in plays.

Here I Am In Costume

Time for a fast Throwback Thursday Post, and I don’t care if I throw back to something I have thrown back to before.  Many of us repeat ourselves, after all.  I just watched an episode of Dateline I had seen before, only I did not remember all the details.  I watched it in lieu of a re-run of Mom I had seen and did remember all the details.  That’s neither here nor there (I love that expression; I could not say exactly what it means).  On with the blog post.

I was so dramatic!

Here is a great theatre memory: Shakespeare’s The Tempest, performed by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company in August 2017.  I’m the one in the orange tights.  I loved that costume, although it did get a little warm for the time of year.

I felt pretty hot, in a good way, but perhaps I flatter myself.

Speaking of me in costume, here I am in my Ruby outfit from Rubbed Out at Ruby’s,  one of my interactive murder mysteries.  This picture was taken at a fundraiser for the Landmarks Society of Greater Utica.  By the way, it is not so easy to get a flask to stay in one of those garters.

Aren’t we a cute couple?

And here I am in what is perhaps my most fabulous costume, as Roxanne Rolls in Fabulous and Fatal, another murder mystery.  The beauty in orange is my husband, Steven, as Ophelia Upps, which I think is one of the best names I have ever come up with (although it is possible that once again I flatter myself).

I do love revisiting my theatre memories.  I hope I can soon get around to making new ones.  I’ll be sure to blog about it when I do.

Luckily, Blog Posts Don’t Have To Be Perfect

Today is a Blogger’s Sick Day.  That is when I spend a few words whining about how terrible I feel and call it a post.  Maybe I could share a few pictures to pep things up, maybe get a little Throwback Thursday into the mix.

A suspicious bunch indeed.

I looked in my Media Library at September 2017 and found this delightful shot.  It is members of LiFT,  Little Falls Theatre Company, at the Ritz and Ragtime fundraiser for the Landmarks Society of Greater Utica.  I wish they would do one of those again.  I have a couple more 1920’s outfits to choose from.

More theatre fun!

This was in September 2018, Donate to Murder at the Herkimer Elks Club.  It was an interactive murder mystery which I just happened to write.  I need to start writing again.

Good advice for me.

I need to make this my mantra.  I could hang it on my wall.  Or maybe tattoo it on my forehead, backwards, of course, so I could read it every time I look in the mirror.  Unfortunately,  or perhaps fortunately,  my forehead is not that big.

In the meantime, it seems I have managed to make a blog post in spite of feeling rather ill.  Perhaps it is not a very good blog post, but you’ll have that.  I am going to try for some sleep, and a better blog post tomorrow.  As always, thank you for tuning in.

Shakespeare Memories

Hoping to continue my streak of posting on the day specified, I will attempt a Throwback Thursday Post.  I realize my WordPress timestamp may say something different, but let us gloss over these little inconsistencies.  I wonder what I can throw back to this week.

What a cast! What a performance!

So many of my throwbacks are to theatre, but I just cannot help myself.  In this case, I looked at my Media Library in August 2017 (my Media Library only goes back to October 2016) and saw some colorful pictures of The Tempest, as performed by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company.  Did you hope that with the end of Love’s Labour’s Lost I would stop talking about Shakespeare?  Forlorn hope, that!

I’m the one in the orange tights.

The first picture was at the Utica Zoo.  The above was at a venue near Caroga Lake.

I was really getting into the scene.

I have no upcoming theatrical endeavors in the foreseeable future, Shakespearean or otherwise.  I have other things on my mind, unfortunately nothing that would make for a decent blog post.  You’ll have that, I suppose.  Yes, I see you in the back there, ready to make unkind remarks about the subjects (or lack thereof) I see fit to blog about and what do I know about a decent blog post etc., etc. (you know who you are).

Be all that as it may, I am over 200 words with three fun pictures.  I say good enough, and Happy Thursday, everyone.
