Snapped to Svengoolie to Snapped

This has not been a blogworthy Sunday. I spent a good portion of the morning dithering about what best to do. Finally I put in a load of laundry and went for a run (one of my few instances of multi-tasking). I went to the grocery store. I fixed dinner (late lunch, early supper). And I watched TV and crocheted.

Um, the one we’re watching right now is not so new.

Of course, Sunday and Snapped go together. Just ask the folks at Oxygen. I just loves me some murder and mayhem. I alternately crocheted and cooked while we watched. When I was done running out to the kitchen, we put on a DVR’d Svengoolie.

He’s so cool.

We saw Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman starring Lon Chaney Jr. and Bela Lugosi, among others.

I don’t think the original release was a Castle film, was it?

I want to start doing my movie write-ups again. They did not get as much blogger love as other posts (I am a well-known Like junkie), but I so enjoyed writing them. Perhaps I will see what I can come up with for Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman. At least it will be a change from Why I Can’t Make a Blog Post.

I see I am over 200 words. Phew! It is nice to meet the standard. And I am in time to watch this week’s So New episode of Snapped. Happy Sunday, everyone.

Slippers, Svengoolie and Steve on Sunday

I thought of that title before I had much idea of what to say. Full disclosure: I still don’t have much idea of what to say. However, I have two pictures in mind, so I do not despair of coming up with some semblance of a blog post. In my favor, it is Wrist to Forehead Sunday, one of my largely off the hook days.

Relaxing my tootsies.

Steven surprised me with these slippers last December. I was delighted with them and determined to only wear them for the Christmas season. For us, this often starts the day after Halloween. This benighted year, however, it had to wait till Steven came home (did I write a post about him being away? If so, I ought to have written another about his homecoming. Oh dear).

Be all that as it may, I put on my jingly footwear last night and posted a very popular picture of them on Facebook. I am wearing them again today. It is a pleasure to walk around the house.

One of my new favorite guys.

We watched a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. I only recently discovered Svengoolie. Oh what I have been missing!

Speaking of missing things, I just checked and found that I did make a blog post about Steven being from home.  Well, he returned home Friday.  That is not so long ago that I have been horribly remiss in not mentioning it.  Full disclosure: the original title of this post was “Slippers and Svengoolie Sunday.”  I added Steven later.  I might worry that he would be miffed by such a thing, but I don’t think he reads my blog any more.

In the meantime,  I am approaching 300 words.  Not bad for Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

Another Scattered then Svengoolie Saturday

Hello and welcome to another Scattered Saturday Post. I had a nice little Saturday and feel sure some highlights would have entertainment value,

The cute part is the pumpkin.

I went for a run after my first cup of coffee. Then I took a selfie of me and my most recently acquired Halloween friend. Later I got together with my friend Kim for some Mohawk Valley Adventures.

Oh rats! I was afraid it would be too dim.

We went to Iron Rock Brewing. I do love a local brewery! After a flight of beer and a couple glasses of wine, I was having a great time, although I thought some real food would be a good idea (we had potato chips with out beer and wine).

We adjourned to Suggestions, where I foolishly did not take any pictures. Kim had her favorite calimari while I ordered spaghetti with marinara. What a huge plate of spaghetti! Yum! We both took leftovers home.

I need to get a rubber chicken!

Back home, I enjoyed another DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. Some people feel Saturdays and Svengoolie go together. I think they have a point. In the meantime, I hope this will suffice for my Scattered Saturday Post.

I think he is cool.

So there I was, watching a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie when I decided I ought to make a Mid-Week Monsters post. And while I searched for a picture of Svengoolie, I missed some important plot points on the movie was currently watching. These things happen.

It would be nice to make a post about the movies I was previously and am currently watching. Please do not judge me because I am doing no such thing. Then again, go ahead and judge me if you are so inclined.

I don’t remember him having a wife, or even a girlfriend.

While scrolling through my Media Library, I found this image. I think this movie was featured on Svengoolie one week. I could be mistaken, of course. These things happen, no doubt.

Ooh, those eyes!

Having referenced Dracula’s daughter, I append what many consider the quintessential Dracula. Who am I to disagree?

How could I choose a favorite and hurt the others’ feelings?

I wanted to include one more picture and found this one. Perhaps I would have been better served by waiting till tomorrow to make today’s post. I am not the best judge of that. Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Some Skeleton, Mostly Cinema Sunday

We have been having an enjoyable, leisurely Sunday, and I am not that into making a blog post. What a bum.  However, according to my rules for me, I am obligated to make a blog post if I possibly can.  I am pretty sure I can, but it may be of the Wrist to Forehead Sunday variety.

He is fine, yes.

As often is the case, I watched a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. I record that show every week. I love it.  We watched Brides of Dracula, a Hammer Horror Film, which I believe I have seen before, without benefit of horror host. I may actually have a picture of this movie in my Media Library,  but I despair of finding it tonight.

Three of my living room friends.

Here is Bonita, one of our skeletons.  I arranged her differently today for Halloween decorating purposes.  I mean to take some pictures for blogging purposes soon.  Santa, in the background, is also dressed for the season.  Darling Duck, not yet.

A young Christopher Lee!

How nice: I found a picture of another movie we watched: Horror Hotel.  It is creepy, yes.

I might look good in such an outfit.

We also watched The Invisible Man with Claude Rains.  What a marvellous actor that man was.  We also watched a DVR’d episode of Mystery Science Theatre 3000, but that one barely rates a mention.

However, I have managed over 200 words of a Cinema Sunday.  I guess I do not have to swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead after all.

Is It Friday? Or Is It Halloween?

Be still, my heart!

I was just watching a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie so open with a picture of my new hero.  Being a horror host is my dream job.  The movie was Billy the Kid vs. Dracula, which really seemed more suited to Mystery Science Theatre 3000 than Svengoolie, but of course Sven is free to feature whatever he chooses.  My opinion was not sought.

So this is my Friday Lame Post, only yesterday was my Friday this week, and I may not have another real Friday for the next few weeks.  Yes, I have been furloughed again.  I mean to make good use of my time, just to have something different from other furloughs and, indeed, the rest of my life.  But never mind serious topics.  I want to make a silly post.

He’s just hanging out.

I went outside just now and took that picture.  I put out a few Halloween decorations last weekend.  I hung the skellington straight down, but the wind blew his leg over the lights to put him in the sexy pose. I love it when nature helps improve your decorations.

Another angle.

I have not finished my decorations.  Witchy is not plugged in yet, but doesn’t she look cheerful?  The scarecrow has been there for a while now. I must find a better spot and pose for him.

Less sexy, but cheerful.

This is from last Halloween.  As you can see, it was a rainy night.  There was some flooding, but we escaped any damage.

I guess I will have plenty of time to decorate my porch and front yard.  Rest assured, you will be able to read about it here.

Would Svengoolie Like My Container Garden?

He is fine, yes!

So far the highlight of my day was watching a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie.  How I went so many years of my life without this show… Oh well, I can watch it now.

However, I do not mean to make my blog post about Svengoolie, nor yet Snapped, which I have also been enjoying this Sunday.  Still, I have mentioned them.  Will that qualify this as a Non-Sequitur Sunday Post?  I hope so.

Svengoolie, Snapped and Susan!

When I began to realize I had almost nothing to say on a blog post, I went outside to take a picture of my Brown-eyed Susans, which are still growing prolifically.  I put the bucket in front of them earlier to prop them up, as they had begun to droop.  I guess it is a little unsightly.  I’ll have to come up with something else .

Pretty!

Next I went put front for a shot of my Johnny Jump-ups.  Aren’t they doing well?  I took another picture while I was at it.

An unknown plant.

You can’t really see this one very well.  I have no idea what it is, but it started growing where my peonies were after I cut them down.  I decided to let it live.  I’ll let you know if it amounts to anything.

I can only eat so much pesto, after all.

Back on the deck, I got a shot of my put of control basil.  I have not made as good use of it as I may have.  I wonder if I can dry it and use it this winter.

Not the most visually appealing display.

I took a picture of a couple other plants that were doing well.  My container garden is not as beautiful as I would like.  If I swept the deck and rearranged the pots, it would help.  However, as it becomes increasingly obvious that I will host no gatherings in the foreseeable future, I have become discouraged.

However, one must not give in to discouragement.  On the brighter side, I made my Sunday Post on Sunday.  And it wasn’t a Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  I’m going to call that a win.

Oh Yeah, and I Watched Svengoolie

Hello, and welcome to another Slacker Saturday Post.  I did some yard work this morning, went to a neighbor’s graduation party this afternoon, and that is it.

He’s fun.

Oh yeah, and I watched a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie.  The featured movie was Curse of the Werewolf, a Hammer horror feature from 1961.  I thought, “Hammer horror!   Oh boy!”  Boy was I disappointed!

Sven’s pre-movie summary told me it was going to take a while to get to the werewolf part.  He was so right!  I fast forwarded it through some of the annoying set-up (which some people might have found entertaining; there’s no accounting for tastes).  In so doing, I may have missed some of the explanatory narration.  Still, I was able to follow things.

I could totally write one of my blow-by-blow movie write-ups, because I was taking copious notes in the TV Journal.  In fact, I would love to do so.  I enjoy writing them and have not done one in a while.  However, then this would not be a Slacker Saturday Post.

Now how dumb is this: I just looked at a previous paragraph and saw that autocorrect made “Sven’s” be “When’s”.  What the hell is that all about (and I mean hell not he’ll for heck’s sake!) (and it was heck’s sake, not Jack’s sake!) (I thought it would allow heck if not hell, but apparently not)?

Anyways, I have gotten myself over 200 words,  so we’ll call this OK for a Slacker Saturday Post.  I now continue to slack.

Wrist to Svengoolie

I did say “no promises” about a better post on Sunday, didn’t I?  I guess it’s always No Promises for Mohawk Valley Girl.  But I am making my post on Sunday and not early Monday morning, so there’s that.

Yeah, what she said.

So it is Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  Yes, I am a little sad that tomorrow is Monday.  Of course I want another day off, who wouldn’t?   Yes, yes, I am happy to be back at work, I am grateful to have a job. Cannot one feel ambivalent about these things?  Sheesh!

I love this guy!

Earlier we watched a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie.  Fun!  It was the original Frankenstein, an excellent piece of cinema. James Whale, the director, was a genius. And Boris Karloff was, of course, wonderful.  However, I prefer it when I can hear Karloff’s mellifluious voice.  “Every Who down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot…”

The best!

Right now we are looking at Watch on the Rhine, another DVR’d feature.

The definitive monster.

I thought I had a picture of Bette Davis in Watch on the Rhine, but apparently I do not.  However, I found a shot of Karloff in Frankenstein.  I think that is even better.

I Ser I am over 200 words, so I shall return to enjoying my Sunday (as opposed to regretting my two day weekend).  As always, thank you for tuning in.
