Wrist to Forehead Sick Day

I am sorry if it is tiresome to hear a grown blogger continue to moan and groan about a sinus condition.  Here I am, moaning and groaning away.  And just barely trying to make a blog post.  This will never do.  Maybe I can pep up the post and myself with a few pictures.

“Oh woe is me!”

Here is our skeleton Bonita, in a true wrist to forehead pose.  I don’t know what a skeleton has to get so dramatic about, but then, she may have all sorts of worries to which I am not privy.  I try to give my toys their privacy.

“Oh shame! Oh degradation!”

And here I am, with my wrist to my forehead in a wonderfully dramatic moment from Dirty Work at the Crossroads, an 1890’s melodrama my talented husband Steven directed at Ilion Little Theatre.  Goodness, was it almost seven years ago?  How the time flies.

Threaten me with an axe, will ya?

I was looking for Joan Crawford with an axe, because I have a splitting headache, but I came across this axe pic first (see what I did there?  axe pic, like pick axe?  well, I thought it was funny). This is me and a few others in Roxy, a play about a local historical murder.  For those of you who don’t know, that is my husband (in the play, obviously it’s not Steven) threatening me with the axe, but he is the one that ends up getting chopped.  Good memories.

I will be happy when this sinus infection is just a distant memory.  In the meantime,  I’ll try to make a better blog post tomorrow.

But I’m Missing Svengoolie!

I pause in my meager activities for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.  Of course I rarely get much useful done on a Sunday, but some weeks I feel worse about it than others.  Today I am mostly concerned that I not be making my Sunday post at 4 a.m. Monday.  It looks as if I will at least meet that goal.  As long as I am not too fussy about what sort of post I make.

I went for a pretty good run this morning.  After that, I did not feel like doing much, but after a shower, breakfast, and lounging on the couch and reading a book, I managed to accompany Steven to the grocery store.  We neglected to bring the list so forgot to purchase garlic powder.  These things happen.

I made a pot of chicken soup, using fresh garlic and two yellow onions.  It was yummy!  I still have to put the leftovers away, so the useful portion of my day is not over yet. My only other useful task of the day was a load of laundry.  Now I have clean pants and handkerchiefs for work, at least for the next couple of days.

Earlier we thought to clear our DVR by watching a previously taped movie.  This is a handy way to feel we are accomplishing something when in fact we are just watching television.  Hey, I will take fake usefulness on a Wrist to Forehead Sunday!  However, the movie was Fearless Vampire Slayers, and we neither paid much attention nor watched the whole thing. However, we did delete it so cleared our DVR of two hours’ worth of space.

Now we are watching a DVR’d Svengoolie.  The movie is The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, a movie I saw previously without a character host.  I wrote about it in a blog post titled Sorry, Cecil and Rays.

Now I see I am over 300 words.  Let’s get that leftover soup in the fridge and get back to enjoying Svengoolie!

Will My Post-Christmas Letdown Cause Me to Snap?

I continue to work through my post-Christmas letdown with a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.  I so much prefer the Christmas weeks I have more time off work, but as I often observe, you can’t have everything.

My favorite!

We have been looking at Snapped for most of the day.  It is a great relief to me to get back into murder and mayhem after all those uplifting Christmas movies Steven has been watching.  Oh, OK, I like Christmas movies and specials, too.  Of course my favorite is How the Grinch Stole Christmas,  narrated by Boris Karloff.  That neatly straddles my love of Christmas and my love of classic horror.

One of my all time favorite pictures.

Perhaps we will watch this one again later this evening.  In the meantime,  I feel I must bring this post to at least 200 words.  Perhaps another illustration would help.

A handsome picture, to be sure.

Here is another mash-up of my two favorite holidays.  I hope to make both last all year.

Bonita will help me in my ambition.

One more picture illustrating my obsessions.  You see my skeleton with Christmas gear in the foreground.   In the background is a Santa Claus who is actually only half there!  Do you find that creepy?  If so, you’re welcome.  Happy Post-Christmas Letdown,  and how many days till Halloween?

Don’t Walk, Run! At Least Don’t Whine!

My health woes continue, and I am just going to have to keep annoying people about them.  I actually felt a little better today.  True,  I kept saying to myself, “Holy crap, I feel like shit,” sometimes mixing it up a little and saying, “Holy shit, I feel like crap.”  But I did not feel desperately ill all the time.

I hoped I would be able to manage at least a short run.  Yesterday  I did not try to run but after writing some post cards tried to walk with them to the post office.  I got about two houses away when my body said, “Oh please, no.”  I cravenly turned around (no autocorrect,  I do not mean “gravely” when I typed “cravenly”).

I can see I am still not back up to blogging ability.  I just spent two paragraphs whining about being ill (ill, not I’ll, dammit!), and I haven’t even gotten to my run yet.  Maybe I should throw in a picture,  so this post has a shot at some entertainment value.

“Oh woe! Oh anguish!”

This is how I often pose with a headache, but I fear I am nowhere near this skinny.  Maybe if I went on a few more runs.

This was Halloween.

I was looking through the photos on my Tablet for something else for this post when I accidentally hit this one. I like it, though, so it can stay.

OK, today is the second day of a three day week for me.  That means it is Tuesday (the day it actually is), Wednesday (the middle day of the week), AND Thursday (because tomorrow is “Friday”).  That means I can call this a Non-Sequitur Thursday post.  Yes!

No Regrets on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

Even skeletons have their moments of high drama.

After our skeleton Bonita slipped a little, I posed her so she could have a wrist to forehead moment.  Then I realized I must take a picture and use it for my Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.

As I mentioned in what should have been my Saturday post, we had a perfectly marvelous time last night.  I have a dreadful headache today.  Too much Chardonnay?  A continuation of my cold symptoms?  It matters not, I just hope it goes away soon.

Bonita in happier times.

I guess I don’t have a whole lot else to say.  Great time last night, headache today, here’s a skeleton.  Sounds like a typical blog post.

Some of the best friends anybody could have.

Here is a picture from last night at the Waterfront Grille in Herkimer with our friends.  I took more pictures, but most of them came out pretty dark.  And, foolishly, I did not have anyone take a picture of me.  There is only one selfie, and I am not good at selfies, especially after a couple of glasses of Chardonnay.

Oh well, I guess I might as well let you see me looking ridiculous.

I strive to go through life with no regrets.  That last glass of wine may have been a mistake, but no matter.  It was a lovely time, followed by a not bad Sunday.  Bring on Monday!  After a good night’s sleep,  of course.

Murder, Wine, Just Another Scattered Saturday

I shall attempt a Scattered Saturday post,  but no promises. I am still tired and shaken after what turned out to be a wonderful theatre experience with Fabulous and Fatal, our murder mystery at the Travel Lodge in Little Falls to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.

Quite frankly, I expected to wake up hung over.  However, I did not, and remembering how much I actually drank, that is not surprising. I nursed my Cabernet Sauvignon, because I was performing.  Incidentally,  the performance went awesomely.  I will write more about it when I have some pictures to share.

This morning I went for a run.  Later we had some breakfast at Mona’s in Mohawk.  Later yet we went to a wine tasting at Valley Wine and Liquor in Herkimer.  Yum!  Then it was a quick trip to the Marina in Frankfort, NY and a drink or two at Heelpath Brewing Company.  Untamed Red by Rustic Ridge Winery in Burlington Flats.  Yum!

Now we are home, having arrived at the bra off, sweats on, wine drinking, movie watching portion of the day.  What Halloween movies will we watch?  I may list them tomorrow, having a Saturday and Sunday Cinema post.  As always,  no promises,  but I hope you will all stay tuned.

Wrist to Forehead Friday

The show must go on!  Said in a dramatic voice with gestures, of course.  I had thought I was going to make a routine Lame Post Friday post before hurrying off to Fabulous and Fatal, our murder mystery (I believe I’ve mentioned it once or twice).  Well, just now one of my actors called in sick.

OH CRAP!!!

That’s all right, though. The important thing is that the audience does not suffer.  We must still be fabulous.  We must still be fatal.  We have a couple of desperate pleas for understudies out, and I am looking over the script thinking, “I can say this one, and Helen Damnation can say this one…”

In the meantime, I still have not yet assembled Ophelia Upp’s costume nor gotten Roxanne Rolls’ jewelry together.  I’m thinking my blue topaz from Weisser’s Jewelers and possibly some rhinestones…  yes, I am easily distracted.

And flustered.  In fact, I am too flustered now to make it to 200 words.  I’ll update you on how things turn out later.

Why DON’T I Have a Chaise Lounge?

Yes, it is Wrist to Forehead Sunday,  and once again, I got nothin’.  We had a rehearsal for Fabulous and Fatal, our latest, and perhaps last, murder mystery.  We got some dinner at The Happen Inn in Little Falls.  Now I am home and, quite frankly, looking forward to bedtime.  But I do not want to be making my Sunday post early Monday morning, so here we are.

Some people may ask (and you know who you are), what reason have I to swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead, on a chaise lounge or otherwise (regular readers may remember that I have no chaise lounge)?  I suppose I must confess, very little reason indeed.

I will not reiterate here all the good things in my life.  Nor yet will I make a list of the bad.  Who keeps score of these things anyways?  Oh, I suppose YOU do (once again, you know who you are). One feels the way one feels.  That is all.

I will feel happier once I reach 200 words and hit Publish.  For one reason, Steven is on board with my plan to watch Carnival of Souls, one of my favorite Halloween movies (I like it the rest of the year as well).  I hope to see you all again on Monstrous Monday.

Now I Can Watch Snapped

Hello, and welcome to the Easter Edition of Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  It feels wrong to be swooning onto a chaise lounge,  posed dramatically with the back of one wrist on my forehead on this holiest of Christian holidays.  Full disclosure: I do not own a chaise lounge, and I am sitting on my couch,  typing one letter at a time into my Tablet with the stylus, the way I did yesterday.  What is it with this extreme reluctance to sit up straight in a dining room chair and type with both hands into a laptop like a normal writer?

That was a long paragraph .  Anyways, I don’t want to be making a blog post at all; I want to watch Snapped and crochet.

I had a dream last night in which I had reached the end of my rope.  I kept saying, “I have reached overload.  I cannot do anything else.”  And I felt horrible.   I felt, in fact, like swooning onto a chaise lounge etc. etc.

When I considered the dream this morning (I know, it doesn’t take a psychological genius to figure out where it came from), all I could think was , “For heaven’s sake,  I don’t have that much on my plate!  Other people have a LOT more to deal with.”  In short, I advised me to get over myself.  I offer myself that same advice now.

“Get over yourself , Cindy.  And watch a little Snapped.”

I hope the rest of you are having a lovely day.
