Dare I Call This a Post?

Yes, I was too tired to make my Tired Tuesday post on Tuesday.  I am in fact a little hesitant to make the post this morning for reasons which I will not go into (explanations are so tiresome).  I am ten finger typing on my Chromebook with the very necessary cup of coffee at my side.  At first the Chromebook could not seem to get on the internet.  It tends to jump off and on, which is weird, because when I click on a little thing in the corner it tells me the wi-fi signal is strong (why is wi-fi underlined?  Is that not a word?).  I do not properly understand technology, as regular readers know.

A holdover from Monstrous Monday?

I pause to put in a coffee-related illustration.  I don’t know that I feel dead inside, but I feel a certain amount of pressure to update my life insurance.  That was a joke.  I guess brain dead would be a better way to describe me this morning, but I am far too tired to look for picture from The Brain From Planet Arous.  Imagine my delight when somebody referenced that movie on one of my monster pages recently.

He was a handsome dude.

Sorry to interject a sad note, but I am approaching the one year anniversary of my husband Steven’s death.  I guess I can blame that for my current malaise.  However, one learns to deal with one’s grief and go forward one step at a time.  And in this case one blog post at a time.  So having said very little of substance (do my posts ever have much substance? Discuss amongst yourselves), I dare to call this a post, hit publish, and drive one.  Once again, thank you for tuning in.

Wrist to Forehead Sunday is Not a Crime

It is the time of day on a Sunday where I need to either start getting ready for my Monday or make my Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post.  I pick the blog post.  I purchased one of them there Roku doodahs today so I am kind of sort of looking at In Ice Cold Blood as I type (with ten fingers on my Chromebook, lounged on the couch, just to give you the picture).  True Crime, one of my loves!

My friend Kim and I took a trip to a store which needs no plug from Mohawk Valley Girl, and that was just about as much as I bestirred myself today.  Well, I did do the dishes, and I took a shower (not at the same time, although I did splash around a lot of water while doing the dishes).  I composed an email which I sent to the actors for our upcoming murder mystery at Salisbury Grange.  I outlined the situation and listed the characters.  I hope they do not email me back and say stuff like, “Well, that’s pretty lame” or “I don’t want to play THAT character!”  I just do not imagine they will.

He did it! No, she did it!

This is a shot from a rehearsal of the murder mystery we did last spring at Salisbury Grange, Shooting at the Grange.  A few of the same actors will be in this one.  I thought an illustration would look well just then.

I must get to work writing the new mystery, which is as yet untitled.  That would certainly be under the heading of Useful Things Accomplished.  And it is a little more interesting than, for example, making tomorrow’s lunch.  At any rate, I am over 250 words for my Sunday blog post, so I will sign off with a wish that your had a lovely weekend.  I hope to see you all again on Monday, Monstrous or whatever it turns out to be.

Some Semblance of a Tired Tuesday Post

Probably no one is surprised, least of all me, that I was too tired to make my Tired Tuesday post on Tuesday.  I am having difficulty doing any kind of writing lately (and even typing; kept making typos on those last two sentences), but I did not come here to whine.  I cam here to drink coffee and, I hope, make some semblance of a blog post.

I like my coffee hot!

This is not the mug I am currently using, but I thought a Halloween mug would be nice since I did not make a Monstrous Monday post yesterday.  I do love all things Halloween.  Well, most things Halloween.  Not the really nasty stuff, like the dead baby decorations or most of the ’70’s slasher flicks.  I know that makes me lose cred in some horror circles.  So be it.

I’m afraid I do not have any plans for Mohawk Valley Adventures in the near future.  However, I may start running soon, making Running Commentary Posts a thing again.  I must decide by Feb. 4 if I am going to run the Boilermaker 15K in Utica in July, in order to get the best pricing for registration.  I had rather a traumatic time of it last year and would like to better my record.  Not that I think I can ever make a really good time; I would just like to finish without being helped to the first aid tent.  But enough of my running woes.

Additionally, I am writing (and having trouble with; see first paragraph) a murder mystery for April at Salisbury Grange.  That will necessitate a few blog posts, I hope.

A suspicious lot, to be sure.

Here is a picture from a rehearsal of last year’s mystery, Shooting at the Grange.  I see I am approaching 300 words.  Score!  I adjourn for more coffee, and once again, I thank you for tuning in.

The Title! I Forgot the Title!

I did not so much miss making my Tired Tuesday post as willfully decide not to make one.  Wasn’t that terrible of me?  I keep telling everybody what a stinker I am, but nobody believes me.  Anyways, it is early Wednesday morning and I find myself unexpectedly with a little extra time.  No doubt I have forgotten to do something important and will be running around, wailing about how stupid I am, trying and failing to get it done.

Me, trying to think of the important thing I forgot.

I am not really trying to think of what I forgot in that picture, but I thought an illustration would go well just then. I think I look contemplative, but I was probably only contemplating why I can’t take a selfie I like.  That was my second or third try.

Right now I am waiting for a work friend to pick me up.  I have no transportation at the moment but my own two feet, and I work ten miles away (according to one of my cars, when it used to be on the road) (long story, not very interesting).  He goes in and leaves earlier than I usually do, but my supervisor said it was OK, much to my relief.  I felt less relieved when I had to get up and hour earlier, but it seems that is working out.

Just listen to me babble on.  I guess I could bill this as a Wuss-out Wednesday, even though it is really a Late Tired Tuesday.  Then again, the day is young, I could wuss out yet!  In any case, enough of this nonsense.  I must track down that mythical thing I left undone to have time to make this post.  Let me just look for one more picture to close with.

This is not how I dress for work.

I feel you can’t go wrong with Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein.  Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle.  Comedy gold.

Block? Blank? Or Lack of Brain?

Here is a change from the type-it-in-backspace-it-out disease.  I have the type-it-in-and-save-it-for-possible-use-later disease.  I guess that means I have a healthy ego where my own prose is concerned.  Or perhaps it is just an extension of my general reluctance to throw almost anything away.  But let us stay out of the deep dark recesses of my psyche.

I typed that previous paragraph, neither backspaced it out nor saved it for later, and I have been hit by a huge bout of Writer’s Blank.  That is when the blank screen (or page as the case may be) in front of me is matched by the blank space where my brain used to be.  I suffer from Blank moreso that the controversial Writer’s Block, although I perhaps should just call it Lack of Writer’s Brain.

I need a medium fake poo.

I was looking for a picture of The Brain from the Planet Arous, my usual illustration for when I am feeling brainless, but I think the plastic poo will do, because I do feel pretty crappy when I can’t make a decent blog post.

There’s the brain I need!

Now I can bill this post as a Monstrous Monday.  Once again I crave my readers’ indulgence for another foolish post.  I have a few excuses for my late lack of blogworthiness.  However, as I often say, explanations are tiresome.  Perhaps I could find just one more monster picture in my Media Library, to end on a cheerful note.

Who could be un-cheered by Nosferatu?

Here is my favorite guy, Nosferatu, from the eponymous 1922 silent movie.  And with that, I lapse into silence myself, until the next blog post.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

My Blogging Aspirations Continue

Here is one problem I have with going back to being a daily blogger:  lately I do not do enough blog-worthy things.  When I occasionally do something, I neglect to blog about it.  For example, last Wednesday I went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY with my friend Kathy and enjoyed the music of Max Scialdone along with some good food.  I not only did not write a blog post about it, I did not take any pictures for future blogging purposes.  I did not even take the usual picture with my phone which I immediately post on Facebook and invite others to come out.

Christmas decorations were still up.

I looked in my Media Library for a picture of Max Scialdone but was unsuccessful.  However, I was able to find this picture of Fratello’s.  Those same nutcrackers were there last Wednesday. I will just mention that I am still learning how to navigate my Media Library on this Chromebook.  It is quite a learning curve for me.  But what a joy to ten-finger type while lounged on my couch.

Frankentree is bigger these days.

This is a shot from 2018.  I wanted one of snow, because winter has returned to the Mohawk Valley with a winter storm (I guess; I don’t know from meteorological designations) yesterday evening.  I will need to do some shoveling today.  I hope I can find my shovel.  I wonder how interesting I can make a blog post about my old creaky body trying to clear my driveway and sidewalk.  I imagine it will be at least as interesting as me whining about how I am not blogging and have little to blog about anyways.  As always, I hope you will stay tuned.

I’ll Have to Work on the Pun

I don’t know if I should acquiesce in being not daily blogger (sporadic blogger?  thrice weekly blogger? non blogger?) or get used to most of my posts beginning with an apology for missing days.  It is a conundrum.  I think.

I just paused to look up “conundrum” (in an old dictionary, you know, the kind that is a book) (in case any of you thought I might be catching up with the 21st century).  One definition is anything that puzzles, so that is OK.  However, the first definition says it is a riddle whose answer involves a pun.  I love puns!  Of course I cannot think of any right off hand, but if I can come up with an answer to my particular conundrum that involves a pun, what a triumph that would be!

He looks sad. Don’t be sad, Vincent!

Once again, I throw in a picture to pep things up.  This is a publicity still from The Tingler, one of my favorite William Castle movies.  It stars Vincent Price, for those of you who do not recognize him in the picture (poor uninformed wretches).  I saw something at work yesterday  (never mind what;  it would take too long to explain) that was shaped like the Tingler, and I thought, ooh!  I began to plan a William Castle Weekend, where I would watch cheesy movies and knit.  I thought I would even make my Lame Post Friday blog post about it.  And then I did not make a Friday blog post.

I knew she would like this dress!  I think she wore it for a murder mystery once.

When in doubt, throw in a beautiful blonde.   This is my bestie, Kim, at Renewed and Rescued in 2019.  This was before Renewed was the anchor store of Mohawk Valley Community Market.  I include this picture, because I may not sit home on my couch today (it is Saturday, by the way) but go out on a few Mohawk Valley Adventures.  Mohawk Valley Community Market may be one stop.

I see I am over 300 words.  So I have, an apology for not posting, a picture from a cheesy horror movie, and a brief shout out to a local business.  I am going to say OK and hit publish.  As always, thank you for tuning in.

Mohawk Valley Community Market is located at 142 N. Main St., Herkimer, NY, phone number 315-219-9195.

I Say More Wuss-Out Than Wayback

Well, here we go again with me going days in a row without making a blog post.  I do not even know if I will finish this one today.  I have plans to go to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort NY with a friend for food and music.  I can’t even say that is a preview of coming attractions, because how often have I said I was going to make a blog post about something then did not.  I did not make that a question, because I do not expect that anybody will go back and check, least of all me, and I do not welcome guesses.

There is not much snow there currently.

I wanted to put in a picture, to break things up a little.  I accidentally clicked on this one from last January as I was fumbling around in my Media Library (still figuring out this new computer), and said, why not?  It is the path over what used to be a hydraulic canal in Herkimer, a favorite place for me to run or walk. I have not been walking enough lately and not running at all, but I hope to change that soon.  Not right this minute, of course. Right this minute I am blogging.

I do not intend to wear these to walk or run.

To mix things up a little more, I include this shot from 2015, when I was in Busybody at Ilion Little Theatre.  That was a fun show.  That makes this a kind of a Wayback Wednesday, although I had intended more of a Wuss-Out Wednesday.  Oh well, call it what you like.  I am over 250 words, and at least I have made a blog post.  As always, thank you for tuning in.

We’ll Pretend It’s Still Friday

OK, so I did not make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  Judge me if you are so inclined.  In the interests of sharing good news, I am ten-finger typing on my new Chromebook, which seems suspiciously like a laptop to me, lounged on my couch (the computer kind of jiggles as I type, but I cannot say it is precariously balanced on one leg) and drinking coffee. Oh thank God for coffee!  I won the Chromebook at the Basket Raffle at Lights, Camera, Murder, the murder mystery we put on to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.  It was in a basket donated by Herkimer College, which had some other really great stuff in it:  a couple of notebooks (the spiral-bound paper kind, which I love), two t-shirts, a travel mug and two water bottles, plus a few more goodies.  So thank you, Herkimer College and Herkimer County Historical Society.

So already this is a pretty cheerful post.  Let me continue the cheeriness if I can by sharing a picture or two.  I turn to my Media Library.

We all know I am on the Naughty list.

I accidentally clicked on this picture but thought, oh well, it is seasonal.  It was also taken at a fun community event sponsored by Herkimer BPA. They plan many other events in the coming year, which I hope Mohawk Valley Girl will be able to attend (preview of coming attractions).

I love these cheesy flicks!

This was the first picture that caught my eye, but the other had already been clicked on.  I will probably have a quiet New Year’s Eve at home, watching movies, possibly of the cheesy horror variety, which regular readers know I love.  I have written about a few of them in this space, but those posts do not tend to get a lot of blogger love.  Still, they are fun to write and I do not rule out writing more of them.

Oh, this is swell!  I was all happy about this new Chromebook, but now I cannot get it to scroll down to where I Save Draft or even where I can see my word count! I know, first world problems.  Then again, I live in the so-called first world, what other problems am I supposed to have?

Ah!  I got it to scroll!  Regular readers know what a triumph and relief that is for me, who is so technologically inept.  And I am over 400 words.  Wow!  And this computer underlined “am over” and suggested “have over.”  Well, I guess I am what I write.  And there is some half-baked philosophy for you.  This is a Lame Post Friday post after all.

Tired, But Typing!

Make your blog post now, I said to myself.  Use the dining-room-table-top, I said.  You can ten-finger type, it’ll be quick and easy, I said.  I was full of beans (only I don’t necessarily say beans).  My dining-room-table-top is SLOW, and my brain is at no time what you might call a speedy instrument.  Never mind all that, let me attempt some semblance of a post in lieu of the Tired Tuesday Post I was just too tired to make on Tuesday.

I used to be pretty fast on this sort of thing.

I throw in a picture, as usual, in hopes of pepping up the post, only to find my computer is fairly slow about those too.  I would not be having these problems if I had not been too lazy to make my lunch last night.  Here’s a point to ponder:  why do I feel I was too tired to blog but too lazy to pack?  Sounds like some half-baked philosophy more suited to Lame Post Friday.  Ah, Friday, one day closer since yesterday!  But one must not pin all one’s happiness on the weekend, as I have said before.  Let me look for some joy in today!

A common sight on my walks.

One point of some relief, if not joy:  we have not had much snow yet.  I put off shoveling the driveway a little longer!  The warmer weather also makes walks more pleasant.  I had a nice walk yesterday morning.  This morning it was raining, but perhaps this afternoon I will take a meander, even if the rain continues.  I don’t care to go to work drenched from the rain, but just to return home for my evening is another matter.

Now I see I am approaching 300 words.  Score!  Will I make a Wednesday blog post tonight and stay caught up?  A little suspense adds interest to my day.
