Throwback? Non-Sequitur? It’s a Mystery!

Wordless Wednesday turned out pretty good (or do I flatter myself?), so I thought I would go for a Throwback Thursday Post. I’ve had those before. If I throw back to something I have thrown before, sorry.

A couple of suspicious individuals.

Here is an appropriate memory: a murder mystery dinner theatre which benefited the Herkimer County Historical Society. It was titled Secrets at Suiter House. It is appropriate, because I am currently writing and recruiting actors for another murder mystery, as yet untitled.

This is not how this looks today, but tomorrow…?

I am having a great deal of trouble navigating my Media Library, as indeed I did yesterday. As a matter of fact, yesterday I sought but did not find a picture of snow. Now I was looking for another murder mystery picture and found snow. No matter. I can just bill this as a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post.

I hate to play the illness card again, but can I just say I am still not feeling the least bit well. What the hell, body? I have things to do and blog posts to write! Can I find one more picture to pull this post together?

I loves me some Bette and Joan.

This picture is appropriate for both a Throwback and Non-Sequitur Thursday Posts. It is a publicity shot from when Joan Crawford and Bette Davis were set to star in Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte in 1964. Crawford subsequently left the production. That is pretty far back. Come to think about it, it is not a complete non-sequitur, because the movie is a murder mystery. It’s a good movie. I highly recommend it.

I am not sure I can recommend this blog post, but you’ll have that. If only I could think of a title…

Throwback and Shout-out

Time for another Throwback Thursday post. Full disclosure: It is early Friday morning. I had a rather frantic time after work yesterday, trying to get a few things done before rehearsal. Fuller disclosure: I did not get many things done; I sat and watched a rerun of Mom to relax myself. It’s called Self Care.

They are nice, and their product is good.

This is a shout-out to a local business, but the picture is from 2017. That counts, right? It is DikinDurt Distillery of Herkimer. I am more into wine than booze, but their product is yummy, and comes in several flavors: something for everyone. Almost everyone. I know not everyone drinks.

Not equipment currently in use.

I might as well go ahead and give them a thorough shout-out. You can sometimes find their product in local bars and liquor stores. They also attend many area vendor fairs. Or you can visit the distillery at 115 Smith Rd. in Herkimer. You can see the distilling equipment through a window and hear all about the business.

The distilling room.

I visited the tasting room once with my friend Kim. We have been meaning to go again. In the meantime, I hope this counts as my Throwback Thursday post.

My friend Kim.

I thought it would be a good idea to include the picture of the beautiful blonde.

Shout-out for Shoes

I do not have a good excuse for making my Thursday post on Friday morning, but at least I woke up a little earlier today. Never mind that, on with a Throwback Thursday post.

Steven making with the feet.

I wondered what I was posting a year ago (although that is not throwing back very far, it still counts). A check of my Media Library reminded me that I am usually going to Melfe’s in Ilion, NY, for work shoes. I like to go in January, because they give you a free t-shirt or hat. I was wearing the hat I got from Melfe’s yesterday. Melfe’s also offers sneakers, nurses shoes and other footwear. I was totally going to purchase a supportive pair of thong sandals, but summer got away from me and I never made it back.

A quality selection of safety footwear.

I guess this post has turned into a shout-out to a local business, but that is all right with me. After all, one of the main purposes of the blog is to tout the good things about the area, and Melfe’s is certainly deserving of the tout. The service is great, the selection is quality, and I have two more weeks to get in there and get my shoes and free t-shirt. I hope they still have my size.

Melfe’s is located at 64 Central Ave., Ilion, NY, phone number 315-894-4049.

I Live for Theatre

Oops, another late post. Judge me if you are so inclined. Even thought it is now early Friday morning, I want to do a Throwback Thursday Post. In honor of Steven and I being in another play (as regular readers know), I will do a Theatre Throwback.

A lovely family group.

I couldn’t find a picture with both me and Steve, but here is a cast picture from the last time I was on the Ilion Little Theatre stage, Morning’s at Seven in 2019. It was a delightful experience.

I was helping him out with a personal problem.

This is one of my favorite scenes from Morning’s at Seven, with one of my favorite actors and people, Jim Mills.

It all begins with a read-through.

I took some pictures of Wednesday’s read-through, but this is a read-through from March of 2020. It was for a murder mystery that did not happen until 2021, but when this shot was taken, we had high hopes.

I have high hopes for our current theatrical endeavor, and high hopes that I can stop with the late blog posts. Will my hopes be realized? A little suspense adds interest to my day.

(Ooh, not quite 200 words.) (Now it is.)

Will I Plant Flowers?

Time for a quick Throwback Thursday Post, if my Tablet will cooperate. It is beginning to move as slowly as my brain sometimes does. Yikes!

Pretty!

Here is a picture from June 2020 and my last container garden. I could not get it together in 2021 (why does that goddam autocorrect always lop off the 2? It even did it just now when I was going to finish that question with “at the beginning of numbers”). It brings to mind one of my favorite New Year’s cartoons, which features this dialogue :

First guy: What do you think the new year will bring?

Seccond guy: Flowers.

First guy: Why do you think that?

Second guy: Because I am planting flowers.

I still wear the same leggings, socks, and sneakers.

This is another shot from 2020 (again witth the disappearing 2!) (Twice!). Perhaps it would have been better to continue with the flower theme, but the image of leisure rather appealed to me. I may not have much lounging time in the foreseeable future. However, in a few months I hope to find time to plant a few flowers.

Can’t It Still Be Halloween?

Do I have to keep apologizing for making late posts? Am I just calling attention to my own deficiencies? Perhaps a better question would be why do I keep making late posts? Or posting at all? This is getting too deep for me. Let us continue with a Throwback Thursday Post.

For those of us who can’t let go of Halloween.

This was our front porch in 2016. Look how small Frankentree is! But even then he had his unusual hybrid quality.

Spooky, yes?

I’m not sure how long ago this was. I went to my Tablet’s pictures and the was where I got tired of scrolling (it just seems to take so long!). It is a neighborhood house. It looked a little different this year.

See? I let people borrow my clothes!

One more Halloween Throwback picture. Santa did not wear that shirt this year. Our Halloween decorations this year did not measure up to previous years, but you’ll have that.

My ambition now is to make my Lame Post Friday post ON Friday. Will I succeed? A little suspense adds interest to my day.

It’s Almost Halloween!

This is a late, short post, and I will indulge in Throwback Thursday. Since it the beginning of Halloween weekend, how about some of my old Halloween pictures?

Check out the spooky sky!

Here is a shot of a rainy Halloween. We are hoping the rain clears up in time for trick or treating on Sunday.

I wonder where that skeleton and those ghosts are.

Here is our porch for a few years ago. Witchy is out there now, but we don’t have the hanging things. I guess this is a rebuilding year for our Halloween decorations.

Bonita and friends.

This is one of my favorite pictures of our skeleton Bonita. I love how Darling Duck and Santa Claus are photobombing.

Perhaps tonight I can get a few pictures of this year’s decor. After all, we have not completely dropped the ball.

Fighting Lightheadedness and Autocorrect

I guess posting in the morning is a thing with me these days. Right now I am fighting the lightheadedness that periodically plagues me, but you’ll have that. (You know what else you’ll have: autocorrect putting capital letters where you don’t want them! I hope I manage to go back and fix them all) (And yet autocorrect let stand “fiz” for “fix”) (but I digress).

Where was I? Ah yes, making a Throwback Thursday Post, although since it is actually Friday morning (although my WordPress timestamp may not agree), we could also call it a Non-Sequitur Thursday. Or even Lame Post Friday! But let us not get bogged down in labels.

I contemplate myself.

This is only throwing back to June, when I ran in the Pride Stride 5K in Little Falls, NY. I am no hand at taking selfies.

I’m in the background of this one.

Here is a theatre throwback! It is Matt Powers mingling with the audience in Secrets at Suiter House, a murder mystery we did to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.

I’m not in this one.

This is a weird shot from December 2020, which of course was a kind of a weird time, for me and for others. I was taking a walk trying to get pictures of Christmas lights when I saw this leftover Halloween ghost. Or was it?

I see I have reached 200 words (in another officious autocorrect action, that almost read “00”). Score! I do not always reach that self-imposed goal these days. I hope you enjoyed my pictures. Thank you for tuning in.

Is It Halloween Yet?

How about a nice Throwback Thursday Post? If I use a picture I shared recently, sorry. Of course, they will all be pictures I have used before. What am I getting so concerned about? On with the post!

Bonaparte and friends.

Here is a picture from 2019: our skeleton Bonaparte in the mug from our murder mystery, Fabulous and Fatal. Plus a couple of rubber duckies. We like rubber duckies.

We must do our porch soon.

This is also from 2019, our front porch. We still have Christmas lights out now, and a Santa Claus. Judge us if you like. There are reasons, but explanations are so tiresome.

Let’s wrap this up!

I bet you thought I was going to say, “I want my mummy!” It seems I am not going to reach 200 words today. You’ll have that. Happy Thursday, everyone!

Me, Need Beauty Rest?

I want to make a fast post then try to get some sorely needed beauty rest. I think we can bear another Throwback Thursday Post. Of course I cannot remember which pictures I shared last Throwback Thursday (and as usual am too lazy to go back and look), but I shall try not to repeat myself much. Then again, isn’t Throwback Thursday all about repeating ourselves? Discuss amongst yourselves

I do not know if they ever found an answer.

The above is an actual headline from the Utica OD. I originally took the picture to share on one of my pun pages on Facebook. I still like it.

My favorites are always theatre throwbacks. This is from The Tempest, presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company, at Benton Landing in Little Falls, NY, back in 2017. Fun times.

A toast to friendship!

My other favorites include friends and wine! This is me and my friend Phyllis at Gerber’s 1933 Tavern in Utica, NY. Note to self: check if they have re-opened yet.

I think a few closing words will bring me up to 200, my usual goal. Oh, I am tired! I don’t care if rest makes me beautiful or not, I need some! I hope you all had a lovely Thursday.
