Why Didn’t I Watch a Vincent Price Movie?

Oh dear, it truly is a Wrist to Forehead Sunday, if for no other reason than that I can’t find my stylus so am pecking one letter at a time with my fat fingers. I know, I should switch to the laptop.

Here I am on the laptop (which is moving ever slower but still seems to get the job done), ten-fingered typing where the overweight state of my digits does not seem to matter much. Well, that was a bad start to a post on what should be a joyful holiday.

To you too, Vincent!

I had to search the laptop’s downloads for an Easter picture. Who doesn’t love Vincent Price? Full disclosure: I never saw him as Egghead on the old Batman series, although I used to watch it every day after school. However, I watch Vincent Price in other movies on a regular basis.

I confess I did not do much to mark the holiday today. Additionally, I worked on Good Friday, for the first time in over a decade. In my previous job, Good Friday was a paid holiday. Before that, I tried to take a vacation day. I guess I need a Good Friday to really feel Easter.

Then again, I think for all of us, holidays have not felt like themselves for the past year. But we do not need yet another post analyzing the pandemic and its sad collateral damages. At least, maybe we do, but I feel it should come from somebody with more wise words than those which I can provide.

In the meantime, I would like to make my blog post with a minimum of whining. It has not been a bad day. I took a long run and a nap. Not at the same time, of course. I cooked a tasty dinner. I watched movies with my husband. I enjoyed a glass or two of wine. Just a typical relaxing Sunday. I go back to work tomorrow at my new job, which seems to be working out very well for me. Of course, I would prefer to be independently wealthy and not have to work at all, but as that great philosopher, Mick Jagger once sang, You can’t always get what you want.

On the other hand, I do sometimes get things I want: a relaxing Sunday and a blog post done. I hope you are all doing as well.

Pretty, yes?

I close with a picture of some flowers. My Rose of Sharon is not blooming yet, but one likes to see blooms on Easter.

Mooning Over My Blog Post

Last night, when Steven stepped outside, he told me there was quite a nice moon. I took a couple pictures, first with my phone.

A trifle blurry.

I was not best pleased with the shots, so I tried again with my Tablet.

I did not howl.

The moon is the uppermost light. The lower one is a streetlamp.

You can see the houses a little better.

I tried a few shots.

One more attempt,

I offer these shots in lieu of a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Blog Post. Full disclosure: I am tired and not the least bit inclined to make a real post. Therefore, I offer a few pictures and forego my usual criteria of at least 200 words.

I hope you are all having a delightful Sunday.

I’m Still a Daily Blogger!

It is that moment on a Sunday when I realize I have not made a blog post and fear I have not the mental capacity to do so. I am inclined to swoon onto a handy chaise lounge (which, of course, I do not have), dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead, and moan, “I can’t go on!” Pronounced “cahn’t” of course.

I have actually been having a pretty nice day. I had a good run. We went out to breakfast. I did a load of laundry. We watched a couple of movies. I fixed a tasty dinner. I talked to my sister Cheryl on the phone. We sat on the front porch and sipped wine.

The last mentioned activity was, I think, the most delightful. I have been longing for porch sitting weather since it first became too cold to do so. We discussed movies, among other things, as we sat. How nice it is to have a husband with whom one can converse.

I guess this isn’t much of a blog post. On the other hand, as long as I hit Publish, it will do, and I will not have to be frantically typing at five tomorrow morning. Oh the trials and tribulations of the daily blogger! But regular readers know, that is what I like to be.

Cold Sunday Run

I did go running this morning, and oh was it ever cold! I thought I would make a Sunday Running Commentary Post to make it worth my while.

I have not been running during the week lately, which is very bad of me. I walked to and from work three days this past week, but that is only eleven or twelve minutes each way (yes, I look at my watch and check). Well, one does what one can. I strive always for improvement. Hence, running both weekend days and beginning the week with hope.

My thermostat said the outdoor temperature was 17, which is practically 20, so I hoped for the best. At least I found both mittens. They are really good mittens, which I accidentally stole from my sister Diane some years ago.

As it turned out, my hands were my only warm parts. And they got cold when I took off the mittens to blow my nose, which I obvious had to do a lot. Why oh why, did I have to be running into the wind? Why oh why did the wind have to change direction every time I did?

I had told myself I only had to run for 15 minutes. I ran for 20 on Saturday. There is no harm in doing short runs when I have not been running much. I have plenty of time to build up for this year’s Boilermaker 15K.

The cold was really my only problem. My legs, my back, my breathing all felt fine. I was quite discouraged by the weather, because I could not enjoy the run very much. At least the roads were mostly bare.

I kept it up for 18 minutes, which I felt was pretty good. I see this blog post is approaching 300 words, which also ought to feel pretty good. Unfortunately I fear they have been dull words, but I can’t seem to help that. Maybe the cold froze my brain. On the other hand, I can always count this as a Wrist to Forehead Sunday. I hope to see you all again on Monday.

I Take a Break from Murder

Can you feel the sexual tension?

I glance down from the movie to my Tablet to make my blog post. It is Double Indemnity, a favorite of ours. Before that we looked at several episodes of Snapped, most of which dealt with a woman killing her husband. Do you sense a pattern here?

I could use a cup of coffee.

I searched through my Media Library for the picture of Double Indemnity. I did not feel like doing the same for a Snapped logo, so I went to Facebook and found the above photo. Steve and I have plenty of coffee mugs, but I would not say no to one of those.

As you may guess, I do not have much to talk about today. I did not spend the day following my advice from yesterday of Do Something, Anything. I went running, so at least I got some exercise. And now I have made some semblance of a blog post. I guess I’ll call this a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post and drive on.

I hope to see you all again on Monstrous Monday.

Sometimes Monsters Help

I do not know why I feel so tired. I have accomplished very little today, and even less in the area of writing. I know, the only thing to do is to pick up a pen and write. Or a stylus and start picking out one letter at a time. So this is my Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post.

“Follow me! To the Graveyard!”

I throw in a picture to pep things up. I love this shot of Elliott Ghoul. The reflection makes it look like he is holding a Santa Claus doll. My Christmas decorations stay up till at least January 6th. I would really like to have a fabulous 12th Night party, but this is clearly not the year for that.

Another favorite ghoul.

I loves me some Svengoolie. We watched a DVR’d episode earlier. I got some knitting done.

December 2019.

This post is becoming a little disjointed, but I guess I have kind of a spooky Christmas theme going on. Above is our skeleton Bonita, in last year’s Christmas outfit. In the background you can see Santa Claus and Darling Duck.

I am strongly tempted to grow my hair out.

One more Christmas monster picture. I wonder if I can blame today’s post on my Post-Christmas Letdown. Hmmm…. sounds like a lame-ass excuse to me. All I can do is hit Publish and hope for the best. As always, thank you for tuning in.

Another Sunday, Another Swoon

It is my first real Sunday since October. I must get up and go to my new job tomorrow and work a whole week. Yikes! On the one hand, it will be nice to get into a routine, to feel the rhythm of Monday through Friday, to once again be gainfully employed. On the other hand, Yikes!

One way to ensure a pretty bad Monday.

There is some satisfaction in being able to post that picture again. I can only hope my new job is pleasant enough that I do not really feel like that. It is early days yet. The uncertainty makes this a true Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

That’s me, with my wrist actually on my forehead.

I am trying to take my mind off my troubles with a little murder and mayhem. I cannot possibly scroll through my Media Library again looking for a logo from Snapped. I still have a few things to do to prepare myself for my work week.

As soon as I recover from my swoon. It is, as I said, Wrist to Forehead Sunday. Perhaps now that I have a job, I can afford to purchase that chaise lounge for future swoons.

Foul Mood, Foolish Post

I am in a rotten, rotten mood, and it does not matter why. What does matter is that I cannot find a decent stylus so am attempting to post with one bad finger. No, it is not eligible for me to move to my laptop for ten finger typing. Again, it does not matter why.

One does not expect to be in a foul mood in December. One naturally expects to be filled with the Christmas spirit. It just feels wrong to be in a foul mood. Then again, that makes this perfectly eligible for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post.

So here I am, typing one letter at a time with my finger instead of a stylus. Does anybody else feel devoid of the Christmas spirit at odd times this time of year? Or even at all times? I don’t know about anyone else, but as soon as I feel I ought to be in the Christmas spirit, that is the exact opposite of how I feel.

Come to think about it, I was just thinking about how I ought to make a blog post. That would explain the foolishness of this blog post. On the other hand, I am at 200 words. That makes this respectable, even for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post. I hope my readers are in a better than foul mood.

Slippers, Svengoolie and Steve on Sunday

I thought of that title before I had much idea of what to say. Full disclosure: I still don’t have much idea of what to say. However, I have two pictures in mind, so I do not despair of coming up with some semblance of a blog post. In my favor, it is Wrist to Forehead Sunday, one of my largely off the hook days.

Relaxing my tootsies.

Steven surprised me with these slippers last December. I was delighted with them and determined to only wear them for the Christmas season. For us, this often starts the day after Halloween. This benighted year, however, it had to wait till Steven came home (did I write a post about him being away? If so, I ought to have written another about his homecoming. Oh dear).

Be all that as it may, I put on my jingly footwear last night and posted a very popular picture of them on Facebook. I am wearing them again today. It is a pleasure to walk around the house.

One of my new favorite guys.

We watched a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. I only recently discovered Svengoolie. Oh what I have been missing!

Speaking of missing things, I just checked and found that I did make a blog post about Steven being from home.  Well, he returned home Friday.  That is not so long ago that I have been horribly remiss in not mentioning it.  Full disclosure: the original title of this post was “Slippers and Svengoolie Sunday.”  I added Steven later.  I might worry that he would be miffed by such a thing, but I don’t think he reads my blog any more.

In the meantime,  I am approaching 300 words.  Not bad for Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

Note to Self: Get a Chaise Lounge

Here I sit, watching Berserk, Joan Crawford’s penultimate movie and wanting to make a blog post. I refrained from having Lame Post Friday, but I am afraid this will be Wrist-to-Forehead Sunday. I would like nothing better than to swoon on a handy chaise lounge, posed dramatically with the back of one wrist against my forehead.

There’s my Joan!

I don’t have a picture from Berserk in my Media Library, so I add one from I Saw What You Did. I find this one sufficiently dramatic for the occasion.

She looks pretty berserk here.

I add this shot from Straitjacket just for good measure. Who doesn’t love Joan Crawford with an axe?

I think it must be pretty clear that I am tired. In fact, if I did have a chaise lounge to swoon upon, I don’t know that I have the strength to get my wrist up to my forehead. I say there is no point in swooning if you cannot pose dramatically. But maybe I can find another picture to entertain.

The middle one is me headed for bed.

I swerve into non-sequitur territory with a picture of zombies. Joan Crawford never did a zombie movie. I expect I’ll be too tired to pop in Night of the Living Dead after Joan is done going Berserk. But perhaps I can summon enough energy to swoon properly.
