Don’t Run, Walk!

There was little possibility of a Scattered Saturday post, as I spent much of the day fighting a headache and recruiting my energies for tonight’s performance for Morning’s at Seven at Ilion Little Theatre (just to continue my theme of All Morning’s at Seven All The Time).  When two naps did not resolve the problem, although 800 mg of ibuprofen took the edge off, I decided to try the effects of a little fresh air and exercise (am I the only on that every time I hear “fresh air,” a little voice in my head says, “Times Square!”?).  I took my Tablet along, thinking to make a Pedestrian Post.  Warning:  this post may be long and heavy on pictures.

I have not been running in too long a time, or I might have gone for a Running Commentary.  However, there are advantages in walking, one being that I could shower before and not after.  Also, the Tablet thing.  The only problem is, when I run and narrate in my head, I can choose not to use everything. When I take a picture, it just feels wrong not to use it.  No matter.  On with the post.

Yes, I still need to deal with last year’s leaves.

The first thing that struck my eyes was the beginnings of my peony bush, which magically appeared some years ago after Steven had successfully mowed down the wild day lilies enough times.  I said my stalker planted it, but I was just being silly.  Still, that is kind of a play on words:  plant, stalk.  Yes, I just have to be that way.  Anyways, I see I have to get out and pull up the day lilies AGAIN.  I’m not sure if the other greenery is violets or daisies, but I will let them live, because they don’t choke out the peonies.

Also in my front yard.

These are the same tulips I shared on my last Throwback Thursday post, two years later.  I hope to take another picture when they bloom.

Trinity Lutheran Church.

I walked up to German Street and turned right.  I hesitated to take pictures of people’s houses, because of privacy issues, but I thought a House of Worship would be all right.

You don’t know how anxiously I have waited to see green!

Further up the street, I got a shot of some white violets and dandelions.

This is an elegant place to stay, although I have never seen the inside.

I was certain a picture of the Bellinger Rose Bed and Breakfast would be good, because, you know, advertising.  I may save up for a night’s stay there, for the sake of another blog post as well as a romantic evening with my husband.

This is a relatively new sign, when they decided they no longer wanted to be called “H-Trip-C”

This is the sign at the bottom of the killer hill I run up when I am in good running shape (Preview of Coming Attractions, I hope!).

I didn’t realize I got my sneakers in this one.

I thought to include some purple violets along with the white ones.

I tried not to get the house in but loved the tulips.

I missed the buds in the tree. Rats!

These two were taken at the same house.  They also had tulips next to their front walk, but I did not get a picture.

I was afraid the colors would not come out quite right.

My favorite part of this time of year is the delicate green of the trees with brand new leaves. I’m afraid this picture did not adequately capture it, but it’s the best I could do.

These have actually spread to two places in my lawn.

When I got home, I went out back to get a picture of some perennials which came up.  I positively must get out there and clean things up so others can bloom.  After getting the picture, I went further back, to retrieve the cup I had seen this morning (and mentioned in my Late Lame Friday post).  It turned out to be a yogurt container, which no doubt blew out of somebody’s recyclable “one and done” container.  I picked it up and put in in ours.

Bunny and daffodils! Alas, not a good picture of either one.

I unfortunately startled a visitor to my lawn.  Yes, I know, these animals eat flowers and the vegetables I hope to plant, but I think they are cute.

The walk turned out to be just what I needed.  I am feeling much better, although it is almost time to start getting nervous for tonight’s performance.  Happy Saturday, all!

Back to Two Posts Behind: How Lame!

Yes, I missed my Lame Friday Post yesterday.  In my defense, and I guess it’s not much of a defense, I wanted to take a nap before getting ready for a performance of Mornings at Seven at Ilion Little Theatre (I believe I mentioned the play I am in).  Now I am up on Saturday morning, and, ooh, look, its just after seven.  OK, that’s all I got.

Still, blog posts must be made; we’ve gone over that before.

I paused then to go to the bathroom (please do not say TMI, I have a reason for mentioning it). On the way back here, I looked out the window, hoping to make a random observation or two.  Regular readers may remember that I declared Lame Post Friday the day for random observations and half-baked philosophy.

There is a what appears to be a fast food cup in my back yard, right at the back fence.  How did that get there?  Perhaps it blew during one of the wind storms.  I don’t imagine I get many passers-through in my back yard.  One day some little boys were climbing over the fence, but that was a long time ago.  I asked them not to do that, and I don’t think those boys live around here any more.  They would be unlikely to be carrying styrofoam coffee cups during the shenanigans I witnessed anyways (WHY is my computer underlining styrofoam?  That is certainly a word and has been for some time!).

That parenthetical comment could set me up for some half-baked philosophy about what is a word and why does my computer underline some of them, but I am over 200 words.  That is enough nonsense for a late, lame post, I think.  Happy Friday and Saturday, folks.

AND I’m in a Play!

Well, what’s wrong with being two posts behind, anyways?

Full disclosure:  I have no real excuse to take a blogger’s sick day today.  Yes, I have a headache and lightheadedness.  I ALWAYS have that, at least to some extent.  As I sit here typing away, I admit to myself that I am capable of making some semblance of a blog post. But not a good blog post.  I know what.  It’s Thursday.  I’ll look for some old pictures and go for a Throw-back Thursday kind of a post.

It’s always a good time for skeletons!

Here is one of the first pictures I ever put in this blog.  It was taken at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, one of my favorite places to go in October.  Hey, does talking about October in May make this also a Non-Sequitur Thursday post?  Who says I can’t multi-task!

Mmmmm…. champagne.

Here is a real Throwback — all the way to 1990.  Ooh, and it’s still October.  I didn’t do that on purpose; I was just looking for an old picture of me and Steven.  Look how young and handsome he was!  He is still handsome, of course.

Aren’t they pretty?

Here is a picture from May of 2017.  This must be my front yard, which does NOT look like this right now.  I need to get out and do some yard work.  Will that happen this weekend?  I’m afraid it is not likely.  It is the second weekend for Morning’s at Seven at Ilion Little Theatre.  In fact, I need to get off the computer and take a shower to get ready for our pick-up rehearsal.  At least I made some semblance of a blog post!  If I could only think of a catchy title…

Almost Too Tired For Words

I am sitting on my couch typing into my Tablet one letter at a time with the stylus (with occasional help from the predictive text thingy).  I am just so tired these days!  Once I am quite finished with this play, I will try to lead a healthier lifestyle.   At least I will get more exercise.   I really think exercise is the magic elixir that will make all things better.

In the meantime, I need to make a blog post now.  Oh, wait, I can go for a Wordless Wednesday !

Can’t resist plugging this again,

I begin with one of the reasons I’m so tired.   SO worth it!  Theatre is my life!

Here’s a fun bunch!

This is a memory and kind of a preview of coming attractions.  Next weekend,  I might be doing a fun fundraising thing with some or all of these folks.  I’ll write more about that later, and hope to have some pictures to share.

I wear those same shoes in Mornings at Seven.

I like to have three pictures,  so here is one of me participating in another fundraiser,  a couple of years ago.   Yes, I show off my legs at almost any opportunity.

So here is my Not Exactly Wordless Wednesday post for the week.  Perhaps I should try to get to bed early.

A Word About Sunday

OK, back to one post behind.  And I guess I’m still All Mornings at Seven All the Time,  because instead of a Tired Tuesday post, I shall share a little story about my Sunday .  Full disclosure: I am on my Tablet typing one letter at a time with the stylus (the last eight words were quickly added utilizing the predictive text function,  tee hee).

So there I was in the dressing room during intermission, and there was a knock on the door.  Kaylynn answered.  I heard my husband’s voice!  Then Kaylynn handed me a lovely bouquet and declared that my husband was the cutest thing ever.  I didn’t even know he was coming to the show that day!

I tried to put it someplace where there was no clutter, not an easy thing to find at my house.

And here is the bouquet,  after I got it home and into a vase.

After the show, Steven and I went to Asteroga Ale House for a drink and some food.  Could that be why I neglected to make a second post on Sunday?  I regret nothing.

So I am still recovering from my tiredness.  Perhaps it would behoove me to lead a healthier lifestyle.   If I decide to try, I will be sure to write a blog post about it.  In the meantime , Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Still a Post Behind, How Monstrous!

So my brilliant plan of getting caught up on Sunday did not work, but at least I did not get any further behind.  Until yesterday, when I felt myself incapable of making even a Monstrous Monday post.  It is so easy for me to talk myself out of things!  Yes, you may judge me if you are so inclined; it will not be any harsher than my judgement on myself.  In any case, I am sitting here prior to five in the morning on Tuesday (I believe my WordPress timestamp is still messed up), trying to do a post, so that when I post again later, I will still be only one post behind.  Surely I am capable of at least a Monstrous Monday post!  And, yes, I am calling you Shirley.  Live with it.

“You’re up? It’s almost my bedtime!”

Since I say, “Live with it,” I throw in a picture of the undead.  Regular readers know of my utter infatuation with Nosferatu.

Emphatically NOT monsters!

Instead of continuing with the monstrous theme (does that make this Non-Sequitur Monday?  How appropriate, since I am actually making the post on Tuesday) (but I digress), I include a picture of the reason why I am so monstrously tired: Morning’s at Seven, the play I am in at Ilion Little Theatre.  We had a matinee on Sunday, so I was able to get to bed at a decent hour.  However, the collective tiredness of the entire rehearsal and performance process is taking its toll.  At least, we’ll go with that explanation.  Maybe I am just terrible at being a daily blogger.  SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!!!

Must… fight… desire… to… not… make… blog… post…

Back to monsters.  This is Bela Lugosi as The Ape Man, a movie which I do not think I have watched all the way through, wrestling with an actual ape, or at least what is purported to be an actual ape.  I include it as representative of my struggle against my own worser nature (my computer thinks “worser” is not a word but I get a definition when I google it, and I am certain everybody knows what I mean).  The struggle is real.

Ooh, look, I am over 300 words and have three pictures.  I call that respectable for a Monstrous Monday post.  Sorry it is late.  I shall try to do better, perhaps making a post later that is not a mere Tired Tuesday.  But no promises.

At Least I Didn’t Mention My Underwear. Oops.

I thought to myself, “This will be the day I catch up on my blog.”  Regular readers may remember (or not; I do not flatter myself that my little blog holds such an important part in anybody’s consciousness) that I am still one post behind, after missing two days, um, two weeks ago?  More? Less?  I’m too lazy and flustered to go back and check.  The point is, I realized earlier in the week that Sunday would be the perfect day to make two posts and thus be caught up, according to my rules for me.  I have a matinee of Morning’s at Seven at Ilion Little Theatre at two.  I can make a post before and a post afterward.  IT!  COULD!  WORK!  (That is a reference to Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein, a movie I highly recommend).

I attempted to implement the plan earlier in the day, but I sat here on WordPress and just kind of made b-b-b-b noises.  Later, having exerted myself in other directions (nothing big: made a salad for my week’s lunches, made some cream-cheese-stuffed celery sticks for same, got the laundry out of the drier, did  a couple other minor chores), I thought to try again.  So here I am.  Let the b-b-b-b noises begin!

The fact is, I am as usual these days, feeling quite flustered.  Will I remember my lines? Will I remember all the other stuff: contact lenses, pantyhose, to breathe?  I already forgot one thing:  when I was at the grocery store earlier I meant to get grapes and pretzels for backstage snacks.  They are my favorite backstage snacks:  the grapes help you hydrate and the salt in the pretzels helps absorb the acids in your stomach.  I suppose I have time to run back to the store, but by this hour of a Sunday it may be crowded.  Oh, look, now I have another thing to dither over!

And I have a blog post of over 300 words.   Maybe they are not good words.  Perhaps I amused no one at all.  Nah, at least somebody reading it had to be at least mildly entertained.  I mean, “b-b-b-b noises” may not be comedy gold, but I find it worth a chuckle.  Perhaps I flatter myself.  No matter.  We’ll call this Wrist to Forehead Sunday and drive on.

I wonder if I will really make another post after the play, thus becoming caught up till the next time I miss a post.  A little suspense will add interest to my afternoon.

Break a Lame Leg, Me

I just posted on Facebook that I am brain dead.  This is no way to be on opening night for Morning’s at Seven at Ilion Little Theatre.

Oh for heavens’ sake, can’t I even manage a Friday Lame Post?

It is a dramatic moment.

When in doubt, throw in a picture.  Usually I use a picture of a monster, but here is a shot from last night’s dress rehearsal, used without permission.  I don’t think the lady that took it will mind, but I will ask her when I see her tonight.  This is the whole cast.  We are only all on stage a few times in the play, which is just as well, because Ilion Little Theatre’s stage is small.  The whole theatre is small, although I prefer to call it cozy and intimate.

The fatty upper arm in the foreground on the left is mine.

Here is a backstage shot from last night, showing us getting ready and frantically studying our scripts.  I have not frantically studied my script today, but I have time.  Perhaps I have allowed myself a little too much time.  I took a half a vacation day at work so I would have time for a nap.  I had a nice long one which I enjoyed very much.  Then I had a cup of coffee, which I also enjoyed very much.  I have been dithering ever since.

However, at least I made my blog post, such as it is.  Local readers may like to come see the show.  It is April 26, 27, and 28, and May 3, 4 and 5, 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays, doors open a half hour before curtain.  Tickets are available at the door (till sold out, dare I hope?) or through the website, www.ilionlittletheatre.org.

“Shapewear” Is So A Word, Computer!

Breathing is not overrated.  That is what I tell myself at times like this.  You see, when I get stressed, I forget to breathe.  Then I take a deep breath and it’s like, “Oh yeah, oxygen.”

When I was in the army learning how to run, and I ran into difficulties (see what I did there?), I would tell myself, “Breathing is overrated.”  Eventually I learned how to run and breathe, but first I learned how far I can actually run while gasping and choking in a most unbecoming fashion.  However, this is not a post about running.  I would probably feel a good deal less stressed if I had taken the time for a short run or walk.  However, that ship sailed, to resort to cliche (it is less of a cliche if you point out that you are using a cliche; another technique is to add the word “proverbial,”as in “that proverbial ship has sailed.  Then you sound all self-aware and post-ironic) (but I digress).

Another deep breath, which I need after that last paragraph.  I am working through my last-minute fluster attack before leaving for dress rehearsal for Morning’s at Seven, the play I am in at Ilion Little Theatre.  I believe I have mentioned it once or twice.

After work, and a convoluted drive back to Herkimer, due to congestion and construction, I stopped at the store to get the pantyhose and underwear I mentioned earlier.  I am a little worried, because the only pantyhose (they are, in fact, tights, but let us not quibble over semantics) in the color I wanted (off-white) were control top. YES, I have a top to control.  However, when I attempt to do so, I experience extreme torture for very little result.  What a cruel hoax shapewear is!

And look at me, 300 words and I’m not late.  Yet.  Happy Thursday, everyone.

I wonder if wine is overrated.

Short Post Before Coffee

Last night I did not have rehearsal.  I fell asleep on the couch then went to bed embarrassingly early.  I will not give a time.  In the interests of accuracy, I did not sleep particularly well once I was actually in bed, but I slept on and off and was quite grateful to do so.  I have never dealt well with limited sleep, even in my young(er) and (more) foolish days.

In any case, I am up prior to 5 a.m., waiting for the coffee maker to drip. Yesterday I took a cup too early and it was bitter.  I require caffeine.  We shall see if I am able to make a blog post without it.

My alarm pulled me out of a very annoying dream.  I was not enjoying the dream at all, yet I was devastated to be dragged from such deep sleep.  I won’t go into details, but we were rehearsing then filming a kiss.  I was either in heaven or hell (the filmmaker was not clear on which), kissing this person I was not supposed to be kissing.  It was complicated, and it wasn’t even that good of a kiss.

In the meantime, I fell asleep last night before doing laundry, so I have to run someplace and purchase underwear and pantyhose for tonight’s rehearsal.  Oh well, I guess I could wear crappy underwear and the wrong color pantyhose.  Perhaps I would have time to do laundry, because I can put the underwear in the drier.  Only I can’t put the pantyhose in the drier, and I need more pantyhose anyways.  I could use a few new pairs of undies as well, come to think of it.

And this is what happens when I try to make a blog post before having coffee.  I babble on about dreams and underwear.  I know some of you are screaming, “TMI!” an expression regular readers know I hate.  I hope at least you had some coffee.
