Monsters Help Me Over The Hump

Since it is Wednesday, how about a Mid-Week Monsters Post?  For one reason, it is still Wednesday.  Perhaps I can make at least one post this week on time.

Sometimes I just want to scream!

This is a shot from The Screaming Skull,  one of my favorite cheesy horror movies. I think I have written about it in this space but, alas, am too tired to seek out the post and link back to it.  Perhaps a little Wuss-out Wednesday is sneaking into the post as well as my day.

I’d be scared too!

After scrolling through my Media Library for a bit, I came across this shot from Nosferatu which I have  shared before.  He is scary, yes.

I was wondering that myself.

Here is an appropriate shot and caption from Young Frankenstein, a thoroughly enjoyable movie.  If you have not seen it, I highly recommend it.

I toast my monsters.

I add this lovely wine glass, which I sadly knocked down and broke to last Halloween.  I  must return to Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit to purchase another.

The master.

Looking for one more monster to round out the post, I thought I could not do better than Bela Lugosi as Dracula.  Many consider him the quintessential vampire.  I think he is wonderful.

This brings me over 200 words, yes!  Happy Wednesday,  everyone!

In My Defense, Cheese!

Hands up, everybody who figured I would be making my Tired Tuesday Post late.  Now pat yourself on the back, because you were right.  I could say I was tired after my rehearsal, but the rehearsal was, in fact, not that strenuous.

What rehearsal, you ask?  Well, yes, I am in another play, this one with LiFT, the Little Falls Theatre Company.  I guess I just can’t help myself.  In my defense, it is a short, reader’s theatre piece, meaning minimal rehearsals and no lines to learn.  Additionally, it is in conjunction with the Little Falls Cheese Festival.  How can I resist cheese?  Most importantly, it was written by Angela Harris, the brilliant writer of Strike Story.  I love Angela!

Angela and I at a previous cheese festival.

I was a little stunned to realize that the Cheese Festival is this Saturday, Oct. 7.  I guess I somehow thought there was more space between September and October, or maybe that October had longer weeks.  Widow brain.  It’s a thing.

A shot of the 2019 cast.

The cheese plays are done like an old time radio program, complete with microphones.  The plots concern Mac Blac, the only problem solver in the Little Falls phone book.

A rehearsal from 2018.

This year’s play will be held at Little Falls Public Library at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Come on out and see us!  If you can tear yourself away from the Cheese!

When Was This Walk?

Instead of my usual Monstrous Monday Post, I thought I would share a few pictures I took on one of my Sunday walks.  I had meant to make a Pedestrian Post with Pictures that day, but, you know, Wrist to Forehead Sunday and all that.

Great new event!

I wanted to give a shout-out to Brookwood Market in Brookwood Park.  Oct. 15 will be the last day for this year.  I understand they are going to have some Halloween-y things going on.  You can check out their Facebook page for more information.

Nice place!

While I was giving shout-outs, I turned around and took a picture of Raindrops on Roses Bed and Breakfast across the street.  They have a wine tasting room.

It’s beautiful on the inside!

Wanting to give equal time, I walked down to the other bed and breakfast on German Street, The Grand Colonial.  They have a gift shop which is occasionally open to the public.

This is taking my walk out of order.  I took some pictures in between the two B&Bs but will save them for another day.

Full disclosure:  I am finishing this post Tuesday morning.  I started it on Monday night but just did not want to continue.  I don’t know what my problem is, but it seems I have one.  As usual, I ask your indulgence and thank you for tuning in.

Cinema, Scattered, Silly? At Least It’s Still Sunday!

Sundays are for Columbo and silly blog posts.  I usually indulge in a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post, swooning while posed dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead.  However, I am feeling unusually contented this evening.  I don’t know why.  We do not question these things; we just enjoy them while they last.

Tonight’s episode features Johnny Cash.

Earlier today I watched a few movies from my collection of 50 Horror Classics. I just love those old black and white, often cheesy flicks.

This was a scary one!

After watching a couple of movies with George Zucco (the booklet of movie descriptions says he is “marvelously theatrical”), I moved on to Bela Lugosi.

I also spent some time on my front porch, enjoying the beautiful weather and writing.  I have not had much success at writing lately, but I think I may have have turned a corner and will be able to get something done.  At least I will continue to put pen to paper.  It is so wonderful when words come out.

Earlier I took a walk.  I have been trying to walk every day, for my physical and mental health.  I will have to do a Pedestrian Post with Pictures right along here.

In the meantime, I am over 200 words for today’s post.  I am not sure what to bill this one as.  However, I will not dwell on the problem or I may end up swooning, dramatically posed etc.

Slacker? At Least It Is On Saturday

So I need to make a post today, after posting yesterday after missing three days.  I confess to feeling some discouragement about gettting no likes on yesterday’s post.  Admittedly it was not the best of posts.  I am having a hard time here, people!

I got a few things done. I had a VA appointment on my laptop (dining room table top, as regular readers know).  I did the dishes (anybody who feels I should do the dishes every day may feel free to judge me).  I mowed my lawn, starting my power mower BY MYSELF.  That was pretty big.  To those of you who have no problems with these things, well, that is nice for you.

Later on I got together with my friend Kim, and we had some fun, although nothing particularly blog-worthy.  We went to Little Falls, NY but later hung out on my front porch.  It was a delightfully lovely day, although we felt a bit too warm walking down the street under the bright sun while in Little Falls.

I guess this is kind of a Slacker Saturday post.  In my defense I am making it ON Saturday.  I feel that should count for something.  If you do not agree, please say why in a comment.  I am always pleased to get comments.

Could I BE Any Lamer?

I thought of this title before I thought of anything to say.  I still cannot think of much to say but am determined to make my Lame Post Friday post.  We shall see how I do.

I suppose some of you have noticed that I missed posting Tuesday, Wednesday,  and Thursday.  I was just too tired.  Tuesday and Wednesday I fell asleep on the couch at an embarrassingly early hour.  Thursday I went to Ilion Little Theatre’s monthly dinner meeting so fell asleep a little later.

And I just remembered the thing I was supposed to do earlier today:  call the VA and make a primary care appointment to possibly find out why I am feeling so tired all the time.  How did I happen to forget that?  I guess I can blame it on feeling too tired.

A sweet couple.

I decided to throw in a picture to pep things up.  I was at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort earlier tonight.  I saw my niece Kimi and her boyfriend Matt.  They were not sitting at the bar, as they are in this picture, but I thought we could stretch a point.

It is very embarrassing to have missed posting for three days, especially since I missed posting for four not so long ago.  However, I shall not let embarrassment keep me from posting today.  I hope I have managed to entertain at least a few of you.

By the way,  I do not know if anybody noticed the oblique television reference in my title:  Chandler on Friends used to put emphasis on unexpected words.  I used to watch a lot more television.

The Bare Bones of a Blog Post

I had it in mind to write a better blog post,  but I’m afraid all I can manage right now is a Monstrous Monday Post.  At least it will be made on Monday.  I shall content myself with that.

Bonita demonstrates how I feel.

I was searching in my Media Library for a picture of a suitable monster but could not find one!  I was feeling dramatically discouraged, in fact ready to swoon with the back of one wrist to my forehead, when I came across this shot of my skeleton Bonita in that exact pose.

Not all skeletons are kind.

I guess I will make this a skeleton-themed post (which gives me a good idea for a title).  Here is a scene from House on Haunted Hill.  It is a very screamy scene.  Sometimes I feel like screaming, but I usually refrain from doing so.

“A little help here?”

Of course it took me a while to find another picture of a skeleton.  I haven’t put this dude out in the yard yet.  My friend Kim put him in the flower box at least temporarily.  Oh wait, I think I took a picture!

Kind of cute, isn’t he?

I think he looks like he is taking a bath in a too small tub.  Then again, since he is a skeleton without a torso, perhaps he does not find it uncomfortable.

In any case I am over 200 words.  I call that respectable, as regular readers know.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

Post-Play, Pre-Coffee, At Least It’s a Post!

I suppose it is time for a Post Play Post, but I am not at all sure that I am up for one.

As it happens, I was not.  I typed in that one sentence (picking one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet,  of course) then went to sleep.  In my defense, I was tired and had been drinking wine. The play I refer to, for those of you just tuning in, was An Evening of Timeless Comedy,  three one-act plays presented as the opening production of Ilion Little Theatre’s 100th Season.  Sunday was our last performance.

Now it is Monday morning and my coffee is still perking.  It is flavored coffee, because I neglected to buy more of the regular kind (which I prefer) when I was at the grocery store.  What, you may legitimately ask, is the matter with me?

A dramatic moment.

I do not have any pictures from last night so stole this one from the Ilion Little Theatre Club Facebook page.  It is a rehearsal shot from The Mayor and the Manicure, the third one-act of the evening.

Now I must concentrate on the murder mystery we are putting on to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society on Nov. 11 (preview of coming attractions).  Ilion Little Theatre is already in rehearsals for their next show, Newsies.  As for this blog,  I guess I will just continue to hobble along, and try to make more posts on time.  Now where’s that coffee? Flavored coffee is better than none!

Pre-Play Post

The question is do I have enough time to make a Scattered Saturday Post before I have to go to the theatre for the next performance of The Man in the Bowler Hat  (at Ilion Little Theatre; perhaps you read some of my blog posts about it) and I believe the answer is no.  Anyways, it has been more of a Slacker Saturday for me.  Judge me if you are so inclined.

I cannot tell if I am coming down with something or if it is my allergies making me feel miserable.   I suspect and hope the latter, because I would hate to be contagious.  In any case, I just thought I would whine about it.  Also, if I do come down with something and pass it on to you, don’t say I never gave you anything!

Where was I?  Ah yes, attempting some semblance of a blog post with one eye on the time.  That is, of course, just an expression.  My eyes do not act independently from one another, as I have heard some eyes in the animal kingdom do.

I finally got back to walking today, after taking too many days off.  I fear my lack of exercise has had a hand in my sad mood lately.  Of course I get some physical activity at work, but it is not the same thing (oh yeah, once again I neglected to ice my tennis elbow) (note to self: look up real term for “tennis elbow,” in order to avoid those yahoos who ask when you find time to play tennis).

Oh I’ll be damned! This nonsense has gotten me over 250 words!  I’ll throw 8n a picture for entertainment value, hit Publish, and call it a day.

I walked by the spring today.

A Little More Late, A Little More Lame

I don’t think I have ever made my Lame Post Friday post this late before.  And how bad is it that I am only happy that I can do this to procrastinate doing something useful?  Oh well, one does what one can.  In my defense, I am tired from working all day and being in a play.  Additionally, I have been plagued by headaches.  But enough whining, on with the blog post!

Personally, I am not a night person either.

I throw in a picture to pep things up.  This was a present from my late, dearly missed husband, Steve.  I do not know where the cute little vampire is.  The cup should be in my cupboard.  I must find it.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

I was going to continue with Halloween decorations, but this gem caught my eye.  Don’t you sometimes just feel like screaming, even without a creepy lady curling her fingers at you?

Threaten me with an ax, will ya?

I guess it’s Put In Random Pictures And Talk About Them Day.  This is from a rehearsal of Roxy, a play presented by the Herkimer County Historical Society and Ilion Little Theatre.  It concerned the true story of a local murder of a man by his wife.  Quite frankly, I think he had it coming, but then, I played the wife, so you can’t take my word for it.

I see I am over 200 words, so I guess it is on to doing something useful for me.  I wonder if it would be considered useful to take a nap.
