We’ll Pretend It’s Still Friday

OK, so I did not make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  Judge me if you are so inclined.  In the interests of sharing good news, I am ten-finger typing on my new Chromebook, which seems suspiciously like a laptop to me, lounged on my couch (the computer kind of jiggles as I type, but I cannot say it is precariously balanced on one leg) and drinking coffee. Oh thank God for coffee!  I won the Chromebook at the Basket Raffle at Lights, Camera, Murder, the murder mystery we put on to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.  It was in a basket donated by Herkimer College, which had some other really great stuff in it:  a couple of notebooks (the spiral-bound paper kind, which I love), two t-shirts, a travel mug and two water bottles, plus a few more goodies.  So thank you, Herkimer College and Herkimer County Historical Society.

So already this is a pretty cheerful post.  Let me continue the cheeriness if I can by sharing a picture or two.  I turn to my Media Library.

We all know I am on the Naughty list.

I accidentally clicked on this picture but thought, oh well, it is seasonal.  It was also taken at a fun community event sponsored by Herkimer BPA. They plan many other events in the coming year, which I hope Mohawk Valley Girl will be able to attend (preview of coming attractions).

I love these cheesy flicks!

This was the first picture that caught my eye, but the other had already been clicked on.  I will probably have a quiet New Year’s Eve at home, watching movies, possibly of the cheesy horror variety, which regular readers know I love.  I have written about a few of them in this space, but those posts do not tend to get a lot of blogger love.  Still, they are fun to write and I do not rule out writing more of them.

Oh, this is swell!  I was all happy about this new Chromebook, but now I cannot get it to scroll down to where I Save Draft or even where I can see my word count! I know, first world problems.  Then again, I live in the so-called first world, what other problems am I supposed to have?

Ah!  I got it to scroll!  Regular readers know what a triumph and relief that is for me, who is so technologically inept.  And I am over 400 words.  Wow!  And this computer underlined “am over” and suggested “have over.”  Well, I guess I am what I write.  And there is some half-baked philosophy for you.  This is a Lame Post Friday post after all.

I Hope It’s Not Too Lame

Hello, and welcome to yet another Late Lame Post Friday Post.  Part of my problem is that my Tablet has not been cooperating, so I must sit up at the dining-room-table-top.  At a certain point of the evening, which seems to come distressingly early these days, I am far too tired and lazy to do so.  Well, one must press on, especially if one is me.

So here I sit, ten-finger typing, which seems kind of weird after I had gotten used to pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus.  I still mostly write in cursive, by the way, speaking of things feeling comfortable.  Where was I?  Ah yes, nowhere in particular.  I’d better throw in a picture to pep things up.

The nicest people!

I go for sentiment, with a beautiful picture of my parents and my niece Jenna.  It was the first one to catch my eye as I scrolled down my Media Library.

Schmuck couldn’t have held out one hand to save her!

This was the second picture to catch my eye, a publicity still from Tormented, one of my beloved cheesy horror movies.  I hesitated for a moment between the two pictures before deciding to use both of them.  What does that say about me?  Ah, now we are veering into half-baked philosophy, a staple of the Friday Lame Post.  Two of my great loves:  my family and cheesy horror movies.  If only my family shared my taste in movies, we could have a great cheesy film festival. I would of course serve lots of delicious cheese.  And popcorn, gotta have popcorn.  Maybe a little wine…

Now I am off and planning a party.  This may provide motivation to clean my house, which is beginning to resemble something out of Hoarders.  I’d better have at it, and hope to pause at some point for an on time Saturday blog post.  I do hope you will continue to tune in.

Cinema, Scattered, Silly? At Least It’s Still Sunday!

Sundays are for Columbo and silly blog posts.  I usually indulge in a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post, swooning while posed dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead.  However, I am feeling unusually contented this evening.  I don’t know why.  We do not question these things; we just enjoy them while they last.

Tonight’s episode features Johnny Cash.

Earlier today I watched a few movies from my collection of 50 Horror Classics. I just love those old black and white, often cheesy flicks.

This was a scary one!

After watching a couple of movies with George Zucco (the booklet of movie descriptions says he is “marvelously theatrical”), I moved on to Bela Lugosi.

I also spent some time on my front porch, enjoying the beautiful weather and writing.  I have not had much success at writing lately, but I think I may have have turned a corner and will be able to get something done.  At least I will continue to put pen to paper.  It is so wonderful when words come out.

Earlier I took a walk.  I have been trying to walk every day, for my physical and mental health.  I will have to do a Pedestrian Post with Pictures right along here.

In the meantime, I am over 200 words for today’s post.  I am not sure what to bill this one as.  However, I will not dwell on the problem or I may end up swooning, dramatically posed etc.

I Slack, I Scatter, It Is No Longer Saturday

It is almost 10:30 on a Saturday night.   I almost never stay up this late any more.  What the hell am I thinking?  The usual answer to that is: I am not thinking.  Which at least makes a change from over thinking.  Sometimes I like to shake things up.

I always kill house plants personally.

Earlier this evening I watched Little Shop of Horrors, the original non-musical directed by Roger Corman.  It is one of my favorites.

Aaand that was as far as I got last night.  I got too sleepy searching my Media Library for a picture of the movie Tormented which I thought I had but could not find so hit Save Draft and left it for this morning.  I slept in till after seven, what a bum!  I haven’t even had coffee yet.

Words of wisdom indeed.

This showed up in my Facebook Memories. I just don’t imagine I made anybody but myself unhappy by not making my Saturday blog post on Saturday.  Then again, I am part of Everybody.

Before I typed in the preceding paragraph, I hit Save Draft again and got myself my first cup of the day.  I put it in a Halloween mug, because as all true Halloween aficionados know, spooky season starts the day after Labor Day.   Then there are those like me, who try to keep the spirit alive all year, hence my viewing of horror movies most of the time.

I see I am approaching 250 words, and I have no idea what to bill this as.  Slacker Saturday because I am making it on Sunday?  Scattered Saturday because the subject matter kind of wandered?  Oh the trials and tribulations!   But as always, I thank you for tuning in.

Blame it on my Brain

I was so pleased with myself for making on time posts Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, then I let it all fall apart on Monday.  I have no good excuse.  I sat here and typed in one sentence, even going so far as to transfer a couple of pictures from my cell phone into my Media Library.  But my brain would not cooperate and I was unable to force it.

My brain would and did.

I watched this movie yesterday, but not on Blu-Ray.

There’s the picture I was looking for!

Regular readers know I like to share a picture from The Brain from the Planet Arous when I am feeling particularly brain dead (my brain is not what you might call lively at the best of times).  In a sad development, I found and tried to watch my VHS tape of the movie (purchased at a rummage sale) only to find that the VCR half of my video/DVD player is not working.  So sad!  I will never be able to replace all those cheesy movies on VHS that I found at rummage sales!

So this is my late Monstrous Monday Post.  A couple of brain pictures and a technological lament.  Perhaps I could find just one more picture to end on.

He’s just misunderstood.

This is the most sympathetic character in The Brain That Wouldn’t Die.  I hope he has good vision.  I would hate to try to fit him with a pair of glasses.

I Do Not Labor For My Pre-Labor Day Friday Lame Post

Can I make my Lame Post Friday post while it is still Friday?  Let us see.

My headache was gone when I arose this morning, only for my back to be stiff and painful.  What the hell, body?   I had to go to work; if you call in sick just before a three-day weekend, they do not pay you for the holiday.  Still, I find a backache easier to deal with than a headache, so I counted my blessings.  Then the backache abated before I left for work, so Score!

Work was not heinous.  It rarely is, so I have that going for me.  After work, I enjoyed wine on the front porch with my friend Kim.  I continued to sip a little indoors after Kim went home.  I also enjoyed a DVD of Columbo. Who doesn’t love a little murder and mayhem to start the weekend right?

Love that raincoat.

Looking forward to my three-day weekend (don’t hate me, those of you who do not get one; I too suffered years of such abuse), I wonder what I can do that will make a better blog post.  I can think of a few possibilities, but I make no promises.  I may spend my time watching cheesy movies and drinking champagne.  I have a couple of bottles in the fridge for just such a contingency.

One of my favorites!

Incidentally, this is far from the worst movie ever made.  Have I written a blog post about it?  That might be a worthy labor on Labor Day weekend.

Cheesy Flicks, Cheesy Post?

I thought it might be a good idea to make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  I have apparently thought this before, because my predictive text thingy chimed right in with it as I went.  It can be so handy sometimes.

Fun flick!

I have been watching my beloved cheesy horror movies and crocheting.  Earlier I was looking at the news and playing solitaire (with a deck of cards, as regular readers probably know), but I found that too depressing.  Additionally,  I am crocheting a baby afghan for my friend Kim’s grandson.  I hope to finish it while he is still a baby.

I first put in Mesa of Lost Woman, which I enjoyed very much.  Perhaps I will write a whole blog post about it one day (note to self: check if I have already).  My movie write-ups do not seem to get a lot of blogger love (I am sadly quite a Like junky), but I do have fun writing them.

I don’t quite get this poster.

I am currently watching The Incredible Petrified World.  The poster was the only image I could find, and I must say it does not seem to have much to do with what I am watching.  These things happen, I suppose.

And I see I am 9ver 200 words.  Score! I hope to continue my movie watching and crochet activities tomorrow.  Will it be blogworthy?   A little suspense adds interest to my weekend.

Lame is of the Essence

Exchange in an otherwise unmemorable movie:
Guy: You don’t like my kind of a guy much, do you?
Girl: Not much. But in your case I’ll make an exception. You I don’t like a lot.

I just posted that as my Facebook status and thought it might be good as part of my Lame Post Friday blog post. I’m afraid this post’s greatest virtue is going to be that I am making it on time instead of on Saturday morning as I have been sadly wont to do.  But perhaps I can come up with something at least mildly entertaining.

The movie I am not really watching (but by chance heard the above exchange) is The Unknown World (1951) from our DVD collection The Best of the Worst.  I once wrote a blog post about it.  It was in the days before I knew how to put pictures in the blog.  I looked for a picture just now but did not find one.

Another Best of the Worst.

Still wanting to add a picture,  I share this one, the poster from another movie in the collection.  I am a great fan of cheesy horror movies, especially the older ones.  Some of course are more entertaining than others.  Just like my blog posts.

However, this one is over 200 words, so I say good enough.  Happy Friday, everyone.

Cheesy Movies for my Lack of Brain

Here I am with the not promised Sunday Cinema Post.  While I looked at movies, I wrote three short letters.  Yes, I handwrite snail mail letters.  These were even on stationery.  People like to get them, and by my rules for me, Any Writing Counts.  Additionally, I fixed myself a real dinner by re-heating sauce I made last week and cooking fresh macaroni, went outside and pulled up a few more dead daisies, then came back inside and chopped carrots and radishes for my lunch.  Full disclosure:  I petered out while chopping so do not have enough for all week.

They are up to no good.

One of the cheesy horror movies I watched was The Atomic Brain.  I have seen it before but always find it amusing.  I especially like the solemn voiceover narration.

More Boris Karloff, please!

I re-watched The Terror fairly recently, but it is next on the disc I am pretty much ignoring while I write this.  The movie playing right now is Unknown World.  I have only watched it once or twice.  It is not a particular favorite, and I do not have a picture from it in my Media Library.

Yes, I am just randomly throwing in pictures now.

I saw The Mad Monster recently.  Regular readers know my love of monsters.  George Zucco is “marvelously theatrical.”  I quote the description of one of his movies, I forget which one.

Obviously not mine.

It is becoming increasingly clear that I have not the brainpower to make a decent blog post,  so I close with The Brain from the Planet Arous.  I must watch that again sometime.

Another Glass of Lame?

I was going to put off making my Lame Post Friday post till Saturday morning but decided to pour myself another glass of Sauvignon Blanc and do it now.  What are you shaking your head at (or your finger or your booty) (you know how you are)?  It is only my second glass of wine.  And it is Friday night!

I am kind of sort of watching The Ape Man with Bela Lugosi.  I found a DVD set I had forgotten I had:  The Best of the Worst.  I already watched Manos the Hands of Fate and Track of the Moon Beast, both of which have been featured on Mystery Science Theatre 3000.  Again, kind of, sort of (the me watching part, not the MST3K featuring part).  I have been looking at Facebook or doing puzzles in a puzzle book.  I need a new puzzle book, by the way.

My current viewing pleasure.

This is not the best picture.  Then again, some of the movies are not the best prints.  I love buying these collections for cheap.  Sometimes I get the same movie two or three times, but that is OK with me.  The Brain That Wouldn’t Die, The Terror, and others bear multiple viewings.

For the record, I have not been completely useless tonight.  I finished two articles for Mohawk Valley Living magazine and got them emailed out.  I hope they like at least one of them.

I see I am over 200 words.  Time to stop babbling on and pay more attention to what is happening to Bela.  Happy Friday, everyone!
