A Whiningly Late Tired Tuesday Post

I am taking Tuesday as a Blogger’s Sick Day.  I got home from work last night, managed to do a couple chores, then succumbed to a bad head.  I don’t know what else to call it.  It is more light-headedness than pain, and a neurologist once told me it was a form of migraine.  Oh dear, and here I am whining about it.  Anyways, I felt unable to do anything much so went to bed early.  This morning (Wednesday, early), I am feeling equally as bad with an upset stomach for good measure.  I am sipping tea instead of my usual coffee.  It is quite tasty and may settle my stomach (to add an un-whiny comment).

Pretend there is tea in the mug.

I like to add an illustration when possible.  I am not drinking out of that mug currently, but it is the first one I came to in my Media Library.  In fact, it is kind of what my stomach feels like now.  Maybe not that bad, luckily.  I certainly must go to work today and Friday.  If I do not, my employer will not pay me for July 4th. It is a good policy, really, or a lot of people who had not foresightedly asked for those days off might be tempted to call in.

And here’s an interesting grammar point.  My Chromebook does not like the word “foresightedly.”  I do not see why I cannot make an adverb by adding “-ly” to any handy adjective.  Some writers eschew adverbs and rail dementedly at their use in any and all situations (you see what I did there?).  I personally need all the help I can get and will avail myself  of any words I like, even if I have to make them up.

Look, at that, a whole paragraph about my psycho grammar, not whining about my stomach or head.  On that note, I thank you for tuning in, and sign off with hopes for a more productive Wednesday.

At Least I Have My Monsters

So I broke my streak of posting daily by missing both Saturday and Sunday.  I have a couple of Mohawk Valley adventures to blog about, but as often happens on a Monday, I am too tired to do so now.  I may also be too tired on Tired Tuesday.  I have not been sleeping well.  But just listen to me whine.  The fact is, I am disinclined to post even now but feel I must not miss another day.

Sometimes I get carried away, too.

I put in a picture before I got more bogged down in whining about how tired I am.  I figure I can mange a Monstrous Monday post, only hoping I can find pictures I have not shared too recently.  I think the above one qualifies.

Mine is certainly not this big.

Here is one I have shared many times, The Brain from Planet Arous.  It is my favorite picture to share when I am feeling particularly brain dead.

Ah, a cup of tea.

Perhaps I should emulate the Frankenstein monster in the picture and relax with a cup of tea.  I could make it herbal so as not to further disturb my sleep patterns.  Then again, it is a bit warm for hot tea.

I see I am over 200 words, which regular readers now I consider respectable.  As usual, I will try for a better blog post tomorrow, and I hope you will again tune in.

Tired But On Time!

At least it is the end of the day Tuesday.

I promised myself I could use this picture if I made my Tired Tuesday post on Tuesday.  Bribery often works with me.  Unfortunately, just because I log onto WordPress and start typing does not mean I have anything to say.  I know, when has that ever stopped me?

I typed that in (I once again quote Truman Capote: “That’s not writing that’s typing”) then could not think of another word to type.  Perhaps I should not have put both the play and dinner in the same blog post for Sunday.  Perhaps I should be having more Mohawk Valley adventures to write (type) about.

They were pretty.

I threw in a picture before I got any more bogged down in “shoulds.”   This is a shot of my Black-Eyed Susans from August 2018.  The patch has since overgrown with weeds and stuff.  Not a yellow bloom to be seen. I plan to cut the whole thing down and start over again.  Not today, of course, but possibly by the weekend.  Then I can have another Lawn Order post.

Where will the road lead me?

Another kind of post I have not made lately is a Running Commentary.  For one reason, I have not been running.  I hope to begin again soon.  In the meantime I have been walking every morning.  Perhaps a Pedestrian Post is in order.

For today, however, I am over 200 words.  It will have to do.  Full disclosure:  I have been fighting a vague headache most of the day, and I think it is winning.  However, it is the end of the day.  We shall see what tomorrow will bring.  I hope you will stay tuned.

Would Shirley Mind a Slacker Saturday?

AAaaand we’re back to late blog posts.  Yesterday was indeed a Slacker Saturday.  The heat wave is technically over, but my house was not a comfortable place to be.  Additionally, I had a terrible headache.  It came to me during the night, when I tried to fight it with acetaminophen  (I had to look up the spelling, but at least I did not call it acetaphetamine, as I used to).  Surely coffee on rising (I slept later than usual for a Saturday) would help (I call myself Shirley in times of stress).  Then a long walk.  All the while drinking water, because, hydration.

I started with a full bottle of water, then refilled it at the spring.

At last I ate a few crackers, took some Migraine Relief, and laid back down.  It was starting to storm by now, so I told myself to just listen to the thunder (I had stopped calling myself Shirley by then).  When I woke up an hour or so later, my headache was better, but I was dreadfully sick to my stomach.  I did not mention earlier that the nausea had come and gone a couple times during my walk.

Would you believe washing the dishes helped my stomach?  The dishes have been looking at me resentfully for the last few days (don’t judge me) when with one thing and another, I just did not do them (oh, go ahead and judge me).  I thought to myself I would do a few dishes, till the nausea was too much, then sit or lie down for a while, then try a few more dishes.  It was one way of passing the time.  Well, I managed to do all the dishes and felt much better.  A cold shower, and I felt ready to enjoy the rest of my Saturday.

Which I did, without doing anything particularly blogworthy.  But I see I am approaching 300 words with this nonsense.  What will Sunday bring?  A trip to Brookwood Market?  A show at Ilion Little Theatre?  Or just more coffee and delight at NOT having a headache?

I’m already anticipating Monstrous Monday.

I Slack, But I Post

I am afraid this is another post I am making just for the sake of making a post today.  I wonder if I should make that a  category.  It is important to me to post every day.  When one skips a day, it is easy to skip the next one, and the next, etc.  I will try in the future to make more substantial blog posts.  For tonight, however, I will continue to indulge in my Slacker Saturday.

Old slippers but same position.

I am lounged on the couch, feet up, Chromebook on lap, Columbo on DVD player.  The slippers are a pair my late, much loved husband Steven gave me for Christmas some years ago.  I wore them out but show the picture to illustrate my slacker mentality.

Another happy lounger.

Looking in my Media Library for another illustration, I came across this one of our late, dearly missed pooch, Spunky.  He looks so relaxed.  He was an old guy when we adopted him, so he was never very active.

I was not very active today, although I began with great ambitions.  A headache got in the way, alas.  I did get a run in.  No, I did not have a run-in with anybody; I went running.  Sheesh!

Not the sort of run I went on.

This was the first picture I found that had anything to do with running.  I am now over 200 words.  Score!  I hope you are all having a delightful weekend.

Late Post, Brief Shout-out

Yesterday was another Blogger’s Sick Day.  My allergies have been kicking my butt, and last night I could only lay down (lie down?) with a sinus headache and try to sleep.  Oh, listen to me whine: poor, pitiful me!  Right now I am only hoping that coffee will be, well, the miracle I am hoping for.

Picture from the Media Library.

One thing I have been wanting to write about is the Herkimer Downtown Chowdown.  Food truck gatherings are very popular around here, and Herkimer has a wonderful setting at Meyers Park.  There is plenty of shade, and generous donors have provided picnic tables.  Best of all, from my point of view, is the musical entertainment, also courtesy of generous sponsors.

Rock on!

When I went to the inaugural Chowdown last week, KO Grainger was playing, one of my favorite local bands.  I hope to return as the summer wears on for The Posers, Phil Arcuri, and more.  I may even find a few new musicians to follow.

I had meant to write more about the Chowdown, possibly including a list of upcoming entertainment and sponsors (which would entail doing, dare I say it? research!).  Unfortunately, last night’s sinus headache has left me drained.  I’m going to bill this as a late Tired Tuesday post and adjourn to test the miraculous healing properties of coffee.

Late Tired Tuesday Post, But Here Are Some Flowers

I have no idea why I was so tired on Tuesday, but so it was.  I had a headache, but it was only a common or garden headache, not a migraine.  My primary care told me to keep a journal of my headaches, so I am doing that.  I tried to do it once before, sometime in the mid-teens, I think.  In fact, I have that little notebook right here (I have roughly 3,825 notebooks of various sizes scattered about my house).  Ooh, I kept it up for three months.  No insight was gained, I fear.

Random pic from my Media Library.

I throw in a picture of flowers to cheer things up.  This is the rhododendron in my backyard last May. I do not think it is blooming yet, but I haven’t been out back in a few days.  I fear I must start mowing soon.  Maybe rake up last year’s leaves, since I do not have one of them there mulching mowers.

These are cheerful, yes?

To continue the flower theme, here are last year’s daisies. I have not seen any daisies yet, but I have shared my one tulip bud and the beginnings of my peonies.  I also have some forget-me-nots now.

And the peonies are a little bigger.

I bestirred myself to get my phone and add the picture to my Media Library.  The tulip has not yet bloomed, but I took a picture of that, too.

I think it is a yellow one.

I am approaching 250 words (over that now), and I think my coffee is ready (you did realize I was posting early Wednesday morning, didn’t you?  I realize I did not specify in the first paragraph).  I adjourn for caffeine.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

Lame Brain or Lack of Brain?

Hello and welcome to another Lame Post Friday post.  This one promises to be lame indeed, because the part of my brain (i.e., most of it) that left with yesterday’s migraine has not returned.  What’s that all about?  Never mind, I’ll just throw in some random pictures from my Media Library, rattle on for 200 words or so, then call it a day.

This was a good cast.

I went to April 2019 and found a few pictures from Morning’s at Seven, a play I was in at Ilion Little Theatre.  I was just thinking about that play earlier today, so it seems coincidental that I find the pictures now.

Here’s a cheery sight.

I throw in some daffodils to cheer things up a little.  My daffodils never bloomed, although some greenery came up where the bulbs are.  I really need to up my gardening game.  Come to think of it, a lot of my games could use a little upping.  But I can’t worry about that right now.

Is this post bugging you?

I become even more random posting a couple of fake bugs.  I do not say insects, which might have sounded more formal, because one is clearly an arachnid.  I would rather be didactic than formal any day.

Cheers, sweetie, wherever you are!

I reached 200 words with the previous paragraph but wanted to include one more picture.  I was looking for something with wine but instead chose one of my late, dearly missed husband, Steven, at the Ommengang Brewery in Cooperstown, NY.  I can’t quite see, but I think he is wearing a t-shirt from a New York State winery.

Once again, thank you for joining me.  I hope you will return tomorrow, when I also hope to see my brain and make a better blog post.  Happy Friday, all!

But for Some, Coffee IS Happiness

On the brighter side, I have not made an early morning blog post in a while, have I?  As usual, I am too lazy to go back and check.  Yesterday was a true blogger’s sick day, made hideous by a migraine.  I left work and sought my bed only to find sleep elusive and pain pervasive.  Eventually it went away, leaving me a limp, fairly brainless rag.  Perfect conditions for a Non-Sequitur Thursday post made on Friday morning.  Ooh, that’s right, it is Friday.  We like Friday.

Actually not yet, but I am on my way there, I hope.

In fact, I have not yet had my first cup of coffee, but I think the maker is done making its noises.  Ah, yes that first hot sip…

Random picture for you to enjoy while I sip.

That picture caught my eye because of the yellow flower, but now I see it also includes one of the fingerless gloves I purchased from Herkimer Handknits last summer at Brookwood Market. (what, “fingerless” and “Brookwood” are not words?  My Chromebook underlined them in red.  Also “Herkimer Handknits.  What’s that all about?).  The picture was taken at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort.  So now I have given small shout-outs to three local businesses.  Brookwood Market has not opened yet for the summer, but Fratello’s is, of course, year round, and you can find Herkimer Handknits on Facebook.

Where was I?  Nowhere in particular, I suppose, but did I not say this was a Non-Sequitur Thursday post? And I am over 250 words.  Score!  Back to my hot beverage, and I hope you found this at least mildly entertaining.

I comfort myself with the thought.

Even coffee cannot make everyone happy.  It can be a difficult world, but I feel it is worth the effort.

It Is Not a Headache to Find Mohawk Valley Adventures

Thursday turned into a real Blogger’s Sick Day as I left work with a dreadful migraine.  And then I had to deal with some stuff I did not want to deal with, with a headache or at all.  Oh dear, that sounded mysterious since I do not intend to explain.  Regular readers know I consider explanations tiresome.  Never mind. Suffice it to say (I love that expression, “suffice it to say”), I dealt with stuff, competently or otherwise, continued to deal with stuff Friday afternoon, and it is now Saturday morning when I hope to make my Lame Post Friday Post.

Full disclosure:  I have another headache.  However, it is not a migraine, and I have reasonable hopes it will go away, if not with coffee, perhaps with food and an OTC pain reliever.  Enough about me; on with the post.  Which may also be about me, but you will have that with a personal blog.

I don’t usually whine when I wine.

This is a shot from a wine tasting at Valley Wine and Liquor in Herkimer, NY.  It was Bully Hill, a New York State wine, obviously something near and dear to my heart.  There is a tasting today of Menage a Trois wines, another favorite.  I thought a picture of local interest and a preview of coming attractions would be a nice change form my beloved monster pictures.

Fun bartender at a fun bar.

Here is Tino, one of my favorite bartenders at the End Zone Pub, also in Herkimer.  I was there last night (not long enough to be the source of this morning’s headache, I don’t think, unless my capacity has gone WAY down in just the last few months) (SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!).  It is easy walking distance from my house, which is nice.  It also tends to get a nice clientele.  I had a great conversation with some folks I just met.  So there is another shout-out to a local business.

They were nice!

Speaking of nice people I just met, this picture was right there when I returned to my Media Library.  This was a couple who sat next to me at the bar on a busy night at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort.  The husband said, “We’ll be your new acquaintances.”  We had a lovely visit.  I gave the wife a piece of my garlic bread with mozzarella.  The husband gave me one of his bucket of beers.  We enjoyed the music of Tom Maneen.

Well, this has turned out to be not such a lame post after all.  I wonder if I ought to bill it as a Scattered Saturday instead.  In any case, over 400 words and three pictures, I call it a post.  Thank you for tuning in.
