It’s Late and Lame, But I Like It

Hello, and welcome to another late Lame Post Friday post.  I thought briefly about making this post last night, but I was too lazy.  I was watching Keith Morrison on DVR’d episodes of Dateline.  I loves me some true crime!

Just throwing in a picture to pep things up.

Tonight we present He Laughed Himself to Death, the interactive murder mystery dinner theatre benefiting the Herkimer County Historical Society.  I must recruit my energies.  And continue to study my lines.

Giving the information one more time.

Hmmm… I can’t think of a whole lot else to say.  I have had coffee and breakfast, played a few games of solitaire (with an actual deck of cards, as God intended), all while looking at the news  but trying not to pay too much attention,  because, quite frankly, it is depressing.  Yes, I have been up for a while.  Early to bed, early to rise, and the rest of the saying is a bunch of lies.  I just now made that up and am rather pleased with it.

I have a thing for putting my fists in the air.

When all else fails, throw in another picture.  This is from October 2020, when I walked up to Herkimer College to vote (perhaps you read my blog post about it).  Since Election Day is Tuesday, that makes this a kind of a PSA reminding folks to vote.

That got me over 200 words. Score!  Maybe one more picture for good measure.  Mystery or monster?  Let me see what I can find in my Media Library.

Lame, But Look at Love’s Labour’s Lost!

I wonder how often I am Lame and Late these days.  For anyone just tuning in, that means I am making my Lame Post Friday post early Saturday morning (I think last week I made it late Saturday  morning).  Just to add a little whining (one of my worser habits), I have a headache (yes, I know “worser” is not a word, but I looked it up on DuckDuckGo:  it is recognized when used).

Where was I?  Ah yes, posting lame and late, pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus, and trying to think of a Lame title while struggling for something entertaining to say.

I should strut with such confidence.

I went to my Media Library for a picture to pep things up.  I was hoping for a Dateline logo or shot of Keith Morrison, since I was watching an episode with him instead of making a blog post yesterday.  But when I saw Don Amadio and Moth from Love’s Labour’s Lost  last summer (perhaps you read some of my blog posts about it), I was charmed.  They were so fun.

I do not know what today will bring, so no Preview of Coming Attractions, alas.  Perhaps a run, perhaps a Mohawk Valley Adventure.  But first, more coffee.  And to find that elusive headline…

OK, got one.  It is lame, but alliterative!

Morrison and Monsters, Yes Please!

My evening has kind of gotten away from me, but perhaps I could manage a Monstrous Monday Post.  Full disclosure: I spent a good portion of the evening watching a two-hour Dateline on DVR.  In my defense,  Keith Morrison.  Hubba, hubba!

Steve is a little jealous. Teehee!

It’s really Keith’s voice that curdles me.  So mellifluous!  And when he talks about murder and mayhem, I have all my favorite things!  But he is scarcely monstrous.  What else can I come up with?

Me too!

One reaon I am so sluggish is the extreme humidity we have been experiencing today.  Oh, stop playing that miniature violin!  I know others have it worse, and some demented people even like it.  As for me, I am hunkered down near a fan, thinking longingly of central air.  Or fall.

 

What I feel like today.

Ah yes, The Blob.  I am feeling rather blobulous myself lately.  I walk almost every day and try not to eat too much, but these moderate measures seem to be no match for middle age.  There’s a monster for you!

A recurring bit of advice I sometimes follow.

I modify the advice: Know when to give up, lie down in front of a fan, and go to sleep!  At least I made it to 200 words.  Thank you for tuning in.

Murder, Monsters, Morrison… It’s Muddled Monday!

Guy on Dateline: The fact that I had an affair doesn’t make me a murderer.

Me: No, the fact that you killed your wife makes you a murderer.

This exchange actually did not take place while my husband, Steve, and I watched a DVR’d episode of Dateline, but it very well may have, if tonight’s murdering husband had agreed to be interviewed. Still, I thought it made a good enough opening for tonight’s Muddled Monday Post.

“What?” some readers may be saying. “No Monstrous Monday this week?” Oh well, maybe I could find one monster.

A perfectly understandable reaction to Monday.

I am very tired tonight and in fact disinclined to make any post at all. However, I also know that it is all too easy to go ahead and just not post for too many days in a row. Before I know it, I am not a blogger at all, just another schlub who used to have a blog. I would far rather be a schlub with a blog.

Definitely not a monster.

When I was looking for a picture of a monster, I saw this shot of Keith Morrison in my Media Library. He is my favorite Dateline narrator. His voice is so soothing. I want him to come to my house and read me bedtime stories, although in general I dislike being read to (full disclosure: I loved it when my Mom read to us when we were little) (it was different then).

Where was I? Ah yes, Muddled Monday, which is really another way of saying Some Post, Any Post.

I see I am over 250 words. I think instead of pouring myself a glass of wine, I will give up and go to bed. I hope to see you all again on Tired Tuesday.

Keith Morrison, Can You Help Me Now?

I went running after three days off. I am tired. I did a few other things, but nothing either interesting or impressive. Now I am watching Dateline: Secrets Uncovered in a desultory fashion (often a relaxing way to do things) (as well as one of my favorite phrases: “in a desultory fashion”).

Where was I? Ah yes, nowhere in particular, but with hopes of managing some semblance of a blog post. We’ll call it a Non-Sequitur Thursday.

“We meet again.”

When in doubt, throw in Nosferatu. Is Thursday too late in the week for Mid-Week Monsters? Discuss amongst yourselves.

Delightful on so many levels.

I searched for a Throwback picture, preferably one involving theatre, and came up with the above. It only throws back as far as 2019, but it is a great memory. It is Mummers Along the Mohawk, preparing for our performance at the Great American Irish Festival in Frankfort, NY. I think the wild headpieces look like monsters, so this picture relates to the other. Oh dear, does that make it less non-sequitur? I can’t worry about these things now.

He is fine, yes.

Earlier this evening, when I got off the phone with my mother, I told her I needed to get a few thing done. “And by ‘get things done’ of course I mean watch tv and knit.” I guess I’d better get knitting.

Something About a Cat…

I thought I could have a Sunday Cinema Post but am not sure if I am able to wax sufficiently eloquent about the movies I saw. I had originally considered a Sunday Running Commentary Post, because I took a good long run early this morning. Then, too, a Scattered Sunday Post might be eligible, because I also did yard work, worked around the house, went to visit family and took a long drive home.

All this by way of introduction to one of my usual Wrist to Forehead Sunday Posts. It has not been a bad day at all, but when I think of all the things I have not accomplished this weekend, I am inclined to swoon.

Then again, what is so wrong about enjoying the weekend and not being super productive? I feel sure Svengoolie would approve, especially since I spent part of today watching DVR’d episodes of his show.

He is the man, yes.

The first Svengoolie we watched was Mystery of the Wax Museum, the precursor to the Vincent Price classic House of Wax. I know very little about the more recent remake, nor do I care to.

It really isn’t such a mystery, but we’ll let that pass.

The second Svengoolie we chose was Shadow of the Cat. I remembered the title just now. It had slipped my mind earlier, hence the title of this blog post. I will let that title stand, however, because I like it.

Looks exciting, no?

I got all excited when I heard it was a Hammer Horror. Alas, it featured neither Peter Cushing nor Christopher Lee. It was not a bad flick, but it was not the thrill I was hoping for. Perhaps I was too tired to invest the necessary attention.

I enjoyed more the DVR’d episode of Dateline we watched next. Keith Morrison is fine, yes.

So I reach the end of my Sunday feeling happy enough, because I am not putting my blog post off till tomorrow morning. I put tomorrow’s lunch together as well. I am going to call that a win and worry about all the stuff I did not accomplish later. Perhaps I will not worry about it at all but strive to accomplish all in time. As always, I will keep you posted (see what I did there?).

DVR’d and Lame Television on Friday

Full disclosure:  This is not the glass I am currently sipping from.  However, I felt it would suffice as a depiction of my Friday night.  Regular readers know I rarely forego Lame Post Friday, and this week is no exception.  On with random observations and half baked philosophy.

I may have coffee later.

Earlier this evening I looked at ID to see if Deadly Women was on.  Alas, it was not.  We put on what we thought would be a DVR’d episode of 48 Hours, but turned out to be Married With Secrets.  The machine had recorded the tail end of a Deadly Women  episode, so we had cause for some disappointment.  However, the Married With Secrets dealt with a case we were familiar with from Snapped.  I love to see different views of the same case!

Another favorite.

Earlier we had been watching Dateline:Secrets Uncovered.  Unfortunately we have seen most of these episodes, and turned to our DVR when one turned up we had seen too recently.

We were watching this yesterday.

I include the Snapped logo since I mentioned it earlier.  It is, of course, one of our go to shows.

Keith Morrison. Hubba, hubba!

Soon I will be looking for another Dateline episode.  Keith Morrison is my favorite host.  Oh, his voice!  In the meantime, I hope this will suffice for a Friday Lame Post.

Wuss-out Wednesday During Dateline

I forgot to make my blog post till thus late in the evening (late for me, I know some folks are just getting revved up about now) (8:20 p.m.).  And I just realized it is not Dateline, as I just typed as a headline, it is 20/20.  Well, I am paying less attention to this one, since I am trying to make some semblance of a blog post.

I really did have a wuss out kind of day.  I got a late start.  That is,  I did not sleep in too late, but I hung out not getting much done.  I finally went on a run.  It was a kick butt run!  I should have made a Running Commentary Post, but I was too tired.  I spent a good deal of time feeling deliciously relaxed but never recovered enough to get much else done.

Before I got into Dateline, I watched a DVR’d episode of Mystery Science Theatre 3000.  The cheesy movie featured Christopher Lee.  He did not look anything like the above picture. It was a pretty lousy movie, even for MST3K,  but I guess any actor has to pay the bills.

I love Dateline, and was even more delighted when Keith Morrison was the narrator.  I love his voice.

I think he’s cool, too.

I can’t find my picture of Keith Morrison,  so here is one of Judge Mathis.   I watched a little of his show as well.  I looked at a lot of televisionwhile I was wussing out.

Steven wants her to be his girlfriend.

We watched People’s Court, too.  It is one of Steven’s favorites.

So I guess my headline is misleading, since I did not only watch Dateline.  However, I will let the headline stand, in the spirit of the day.  I hope to not wuss put tomorrow,  but, as usual, no promises.  Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Muddled Monsters?

Do I have a feature called Muddled Monday?   I think I do.  Anyways, that is the kind of Monday I have had today.  However, as I sit here typing one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet,  I feel strangely (or I guess not so strangely) inclined to start sharing pictures of monsters.

Not exactly a monster movie, but you can’t have everything.

Boris Karloff always seems monstrous,  although I believe this picture is from Bedlam, a good but pretty much monster-free flick.

I had a couple of Mohawk Valley adventures today,  breakfast at Mona’s Diner in Frankfort and a productive visit to Basloe Library in Herkimer. I finished two articles for Mohawk Valley Living magazine.  I am planning further adventures and articles (preview of coming attractions).

Monsters of the human variety, I suppose.

We are watching a DVR’d Dateline: Secrets Uncovered,  narrated by my favorite,  Keith Morrison. As an aside, my sister Diane messaged me the other day that her husband was pretty sure he saw Morrison in the airport.  How awesome is that?

Speaking of Diane, she started the South Beach diet today, which is another of my favorites. Imagine my surprise when Steven and I tuned into Dateline on OWN earlier and the episode was  Mystery in South Beach.  Or does that fall under the heading It Takes So Little To Please Some People?

Well, now I am over 200 words and I think this is looking OK for a Muddled Monday post.  Maybe I could close with another monster picture,  just for good measure.

Blame it on Keith Morrison

A bad post is better than no post at all.

A bad run is better than no run at all.

These are both statements I made during this week.  I thought they might be worthy of some half-baked philosophy suitable for Lame Post Friday, but now I am not so sure.  Now it seems to me they are pretty self-explanatory truths.   Not even truisms, if you see what I mean.

Obviously not everything is better bad than none at all. For example,  husbands (I need hardly say that my husband is a GOOD husband, far better than none at all) (yes, wives too, I do not mean to be sexist. Sheesh!).  Where was I?

Ah yes, Lame Post Friday,  and I do intend to post lame.  Incidentally,  looking again at the second paragraph of today’s post,  I feel obligated to say, today’s run was not bad at all.  Yesterday’s and Wednesday’s were not so great,  but, well, you know, as I said.

I completely forgot where I was going with this.

I am obsessed with Dateline.

I panicked and looked for an illustration to pep things up.  In fact, I want to stop blogging and knit while watching TV.  Isn’t that what Friday nights — indeed, any night — are for?

He is fine, yes.

Keith Morrison is my favorite Dateline host.   His voice is marvelous. And I am missing one of his episodes! We can’t have that.

So this is my Friday Lame Post.  At least I am over 200 words.
