Where’s That Chaise Lounge When You Need It?

I am having a dreadful case of I Just Can’t Do It.  And by “It”  I mean anything.  Of course this is not true.  I have done a few things today.  I do at least a few things every day. But the list of things I have yet to do grows ever longer.  I believe I have just started making a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post.  For those just tuning in, Wrist to Forehead signifies that situation when all you want to do is swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one write to your forehead, on a handy chaise lounge.  I really need to get myself a chaise lounge.

This looks like an unrelated photograph, but I will explain.

I was looking in my Media Library for a picture  of myself having a wrist to forehead moment, but then I saw this one from Witness for the Prosecution, one of my favorite movies.  I watched it earlier and thought maybe I could find this picture and make a Sunday Cinema Post.  Then I thought, “Probably not. I can never find anything in my Media Library.”

What I feel like now.

I took a quick look for a picture from the other movie I watched, And Then There Were None, but no luck.  Both movies, in case you didn’t know, are based on works by Agatha Christie, the acknowledged queen of mystery writing. Oh, I suppose YOU never acknowledged her (you know who you are).  Anyways, I thought the picture of fake poop was apropos.  See, I don’t even feel like real crap, just the plastic stuff.  Oh, stop playing those miniature violins (again, you know who you are)!  It was a joke!

Hey, look what I found!

While looking for a cheerful picture to end on, I found And Then There Were None!  How lucky was that?

OK, one more from the movie.

I think this might have been a publicity shot, because I do not remember seeing these two characters so posed in the movie.  The woman is the marvelous Judith Anderson.  I do not remember who the man is, but my late husband Steven played that role onstage when Ilion Little Theatre did the play version some years ago.  He was wonderful, and I am not the least bit biased.

And now I see I am over 350 words.  I am feeling a little less inclined to swoon.  I will feel even better when I get back to making real blog posts about Mohawk Valley Adventures.  I do hope you will stay tuned.

Not Exactly Cinema But Not a Bad Sunday

I thought I might make a Sunday Cinema Post, but I am only on my first movie and getting tired.  I did watch the rest of a Columbo episode I started last night.  I suppose that counts.

She was divine!

The movie I am currently enjoying is Death on the Nile, a star-studded Agatha Christie romp (come on, autocorrect, Agatha is a well-known name!).  This is the wonderful Angela Lansbury as Salome Otterbourne, alcoholic writer of sexy romance novels.  I would SO love to play that character!  I kind of did when I was Ruby VanRenssalaer in Rubbed Out at Ruby’s, a murder mystery of my own devise.

Two more delightful divas.

Here are two more stars who stud the movie, Bette Davis and Maggie Smith.  So delightful to watch these two old pros playing off each other.

I have done a few useful things today.   I ran,  I did laundry,  I went grocery shopping, I wrote a letter which I walked to the post office.  From the post office, I walked to Herkimer Elks Lodge, where I secured space for Wednesday’s rehearsal of Shooting at the Grange, our upcoming murder mystery.

Back home, I watched Columbo before putting in the aforementioned Agatha Christie but also made a salad for the week’s lunches.  I call this not a bad Sunday.  Is it not a bad blog post?  You decide.

Today there is not “one more thing.”

Some Kind of Sunday

Oh dear, looking back over the last week, I see I have missed a few blog posts.  Well, at least I will not miss my Sunday post.  Last week I considered instituting a different feature from Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  That still appeals to me.  For one reason, I feel I must explain Wrist to Forehead every time, and explanations are so tiresome.

I must make a note to myself to strive to make my blog posts earlier in the day.  I get so tired so easily!  Perhaps I need to lead a healthier lifestyle.  Any suggestions?

A lucky find in my Media Library.

I have had an enjoyable if not particularly productive day.  I went for a long (for me) run, I grocery shopped, I did a load of laundry, I cooked a tasty dinner, and we watched movies, one of which I found a picture from, Murder by Death.

I cannot seem to find any good pictures from Sleepy Hollow, the first movie we watched, but here is a funny story about it.  Our DVDs are in alphabetical order.  I started looking for Sleepy Hollow   under “H,”  because I usually call it The Headless Everybody.

Skulls are so in these days.

The last movie we watched was The Screaming Skull. I think I have the movie poster in my Media Library but am too lazy to look for it so downloaded the above from Facebook.  You would think I could have found an image of Sleepy Hollow that way, but apparently not so much.

This is a fun book.

In my gyrations to share the skull picture, somehow I inserted Dick and Jane and Vampires into this post, which was also in my Media Library.  I know I could easily delete it, but I kind of like it.

I see I have somehow gotten to 300 words.  How did that happen?  I don’t know how to bill this post.  Cinema?  Scattered? Slacker?  Maybe Searcher Sunday, because I was searching for pictures to share.  Any thoughts?

Just Another Slacker Sunday

I tried to make a blog post earlier but once again ran afoul of my Media Library.  I said to hell with it and was going to trust my luck in the morning but decided to give it one more try.  Imagine my delight when I found I could select Classic Editor.  Will it help me make a better post? We shall see.

It has been something of a Slacker Sunday.  I went for a two mile walk but not till later in the morning.  Still later I did a load of laundry.  Just now I finally made my lunch for tomorrow.  Other than that, I watched movies and read a novel.

The post I started to write was a Sunday Cinema post, since we had enjoyed one of my favorites, Severed Head Sunday.  That was when I got bogged down searching my Media Library for pictures I was quite certain I had shared before.  Only after I failed to find them did I think, why should I repeat myself this way?  Obviously I have talked about these movies before.  Do I have anything new to say about them?  Quite possibly I do, but we will not find that out tonight.

So I guess this is yet another post about Why I Can’t Make a Blog Post Today.  Talk about repeating myself!  What the hell, me?  On the brighter side, I am over 200 words and tomorrow’s lunch is made.  That makes this less of a Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  I’ll just get back to dreading Monday.  Once again, thank you for tuning in.

Not Cinema Sunday?

Monday sneaking up on us?

I have never been able to get much done on a Sunday, and most Sundays I don’t even try. It’s a good day to watch movies and do a Sunday Cinema Post. Unfortunately, I have not watched many movies today. However, in the interests of making a blog post, I will share pictures from movies I might have seen.

The above, in case you didn’t know, is Nosferatu, the scariest movie ever. I am sure nobody expects me to stop watching scary movies just because Halloween is over.

I loves me some Bela Lugosi!

I just watched The Bowery at Midnight again recently. I have it on DVD but do not remember where or when I bought it.

Those crazy eyes!

I never thought of The Bad Seed as a Halloween movie, but TCM showed it last night. I did not watch it, though, as it is one we have on DVD and pop in on a regular basis.

It’s trippy.

The Terror is one I have on two separate horror collections. It is not one Steven cares for, so I try to watch it when he is not around. I wrote a blog post about it once.

I see I am just over 200 words. Score! I still have time to watch a movie!

Perhaps a Disappointing Post

Oh crap!  I waited too long in the day to make my Wrist to Forehead Sunday post, and I got nuthin’.

I could have done  Sunday Running Commentary,  although my run was neither long nor noteworthy.  I could perhaps do a Sunday Cinema post, but I have not illustrations for the movies seen, and I lack the ambition to find them.

I worked on our back yard for a while.  I did not take any pictures,  because, quite frankly, the yard is still not looking very good.

So we are left with yet another post lamenting my ability to make a decent blog post.  Can I at least share a silly picture for your amusement?

Am I pretty? Don’t answer that question.

I got myself a new headband at the dollar store while purchasing more essential supplies.  It broke today.  That was rather a disappointing development.

It has not on the whole been a disappointing day, however.  After working in the yard, my husband Steven and I sat on the front porch for a while. I have been wanting to do some porch sitting, but the weather has not cooperated.  I relished our outdoor time today.

So this how my days go: some disappointment,  something to relish, not a whole lot to blog about. What can I say?  We do what we can. Happy Sunday, folks.

Sorry, But I’m Not Apologizing

I guess we all knew this was going to be a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.  I went running this morning yet did not feel a Running Commentary post welling up within me. Likewise, no amount of movie watching has made me inclined for a Sunday Cinema post.  These things happen, I suppose.

The fact is, I feel not the slightest obligation to apologize for a foolish post during this stressful time.  Clearly, to run around having Mohawk Valley adventures would be irresponsible.   I am more than willing to risk my own health.   Alas, as is so often the case,  it is not only about me.

So shall I spend the next week or two hiding behind the Corona Virus (or as I prefer to call it, Covid 19) and posting only the lamest material?  That could happen.  I maintain it is the right thing to do, because some people are entertained by my nonsense, and entertainment is a definite service in times of quarantine.

Of course I will attempt to publish the most amusing posts possible.  I fear not much is possible today,  hence my Wrist to Forehead status.  On the other hand,  I am having a fairly enjoyable Sunday.  One cannot have everything.  Even if I have a dreadful day, I will strive to have a better blog post tomorrow.

Making Do on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

It is Wrist to Forehead Sunday,  and one reason for that is that I am posting on my Tablet.  Not only am I sitting here typing one letter at a time with the stylus, I am limited to pictures I have in my Media Library or ones I have taken with the Tablet.  I have had a Cinema Sunday but I do not have sufficient pictures for a blog post of same.

This is what we mean by Wrist to Forehead.

It’s funny how I can have a perfectly enjoyable day yet have nothing to write a blog post about.  I mean, who wants to hear about my doing laundry and grocery shopping?   Oh, well, I guess sometimes I can think is something to say about mundane chores.

I know how he feels.

I often say there are worse things than being bored.  However, I am talking about my job, not my blog.  I do not see any problem with being bored while I am doing my job, as long as I am doing it right.  But it would be very bad of me to bore my blog readers.  That is not the point is writing a blog, I assure you.

“You boring? Say it ain’t so! “

Oh, look I do have an appropriate picture, because right now we are watching The Wolf Man on a DVR’d Svengoolie.  I loves me some Svengoolie.

He looks mean.

And for good measure, here is Bela Lugosi as Bela the Fortune-teller in The Wolf Man.  Who coukd be uncheered by Bela Lugosi?

Hush… Hush, Sweet Sunday

Who wouldn’t love Bette Davis in a graveyard?

I pause during our viewing of Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte to make a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post. It has actually been an enjoyable Sunday, but I don’t know that I did anything particularly blog-worthy today.

A bit of snow fell last night, so I spent some time shoveling the driveway in lieu of running.  Full disclosure: I shoveled for less time than I would have run.  I hoped the hefting of weighty snow made up for it.

After shoveling I went to the grocery store, a chore I had meant to put off till another day.  Now I have stuff for my lunch for the week. And I had onions to put in with a pork butt roast I meant to cook.

I do not cook many roasts, and I usually do them in the crock pot, which is fairly fool-proof (or should I say Cindy-proof?). I opted for the oven this time.  I consulted Joy of Cooking, the internet, and my mother (via phone).  Then I kind of winged it.  I love cooking;  it is such an inexact science, things usually turn out tasty.

A stellar cast, but where’s Cecil Kellaway?

I just thought I’d throw in another picture from the movie for good measure.  We have not watched sufficient movies for a Cinema Sunday post.  I’ll have to work on that for next week.

“I could spit in your eye!”

Well, what’s wrong with a Bette Davis Sunday?  If only I had a martini, very dry, my life would be perfect.  Happy Sunday, everyone!
