Can You Picture Me Taking a Walk?

I was too tired yesterday to make even a Tired Tuesday post.  I did, in fact, type in one sentence:  “I am SO TIRED!!!”  I did not save it so do not know why I feel compelled to re-type it in and share it now, but that’s me for you.  I went for a walk this morning but am not sure it will make a good Pedestrian Post, due to my inability to take good pictures.  However, I shall try.

I turned on the dining room light to put on my sneakers and left it on, because I was wondering how well our ghoul, Elliott Ghoul, looked from the street.  Elliott Ghoul is one of the Halloween decorations we keep up year round.  I like to keep his sound on too, but Steven turned it off, because Elliott kept waking him up when he takes a nap on the couch.  Outside, I observed that Elliott does show to passersby, although he can be blocked by Frankentree.

He looks even more spooky when he’s all blurry!

I tried to take a picture from the sidewalk.  First I zoomed in, which I can sometimes do.  Other times, I think I am zooming but instead I change it to selfie mode.  I hate it when that happens!

You can see one of Frankentree’s branches on the left.

I zoomed back out to show part of the porch, then started on my walk.  I usually walk the same way in the morning:  to the spring on Lou Amber Drive.  It is good for me, because I carry a bottle of water and drink it while I walk to the spring, then I re-fill it and continue to sip. It makes for more hydration than I usually get first thing in the morning.

The only exciting thing that happened on this morning’s walk was when I encountered a skunk on Church Street, as I headed home with my spring water.  Yikes!  I was luckily a couple of houses away when I saw what was clearly NOT a cat or bunny.  I quickly crossed the street then wondered if I dared keep walking in that direction, which was still toward the animal.  I took a few hesitant steps.  He (or she) turned and walked up a lawn towards a house.  Phew!  I did not take a picture.

However, on a walk last month, I took a picture of the full moon that I will now share.  It was not a fully successful picture, which is one reason I have not shared it thus far.  I had a thought of using it in a Pedestrian Post with the title, “No Moon Shot,”  but I could not get my act together to the extent of writing said post (what a surprise: me not have my act together!  Say it ain’t so!).

I guess it isn’t so bad. Or do I flatter myself?

Pedestrian Posts with Pictures are clearly more successful when I take my walks in full daylight.  I will attempt another of those in the future. For now the important thing is, I have made a blog post.  At least, it is important to me.  Once again, thank you for tuning in.

Where Would I Have Walked?

I thought that instead of making a Tired Tuesday post, I would take a nice walk, take some pictures, and do a Pedestrian, such as I have not done in a while.  Unfortunately, it started raining just as I was about to start my walk.  It has not stopped yet.  There is every chance I will take a walk in the morning, but it will still be dark, making pictures ineligible (I’ve tried).  Perhaps I could share a few pictures from previous walks and talk about where I would like to walk to next time.

Graveyards are always interesting.

Here is a picture from August 2020, taken at my beloved Herkimer Historic Four Corners.  It is Herkimer Reformed Church.  I am fascinated by the graveyard.  Old gravestones are always so evocative.  Many of my walks and runs do take me by the Historic Four Corners.

I love a grey sky!

Here is my own neighborhood in August 2021, on an evening similar to tonight.  This picture, of course, was taken before the storm.  If I had gone for my walk earlier, I might have taken such a picture today.  However, it is a useless exercise to pine for what might have been.

I think it is looking a little worse these days.

This picture is from August 2018.  I often walk or run on Washington Street and see this former school.  I am always so sad to see a building go to waste.  Wouldn’t it be nice if somebody bought it and made it into something fun, like an arts center or antique mall?  I have neither the wherewithal nor the business expertise for such a project.  I don’t even know if the building is in good enough shape for any use, but it is fun to speculate.

Pretty!

I close with a picture from my own backyard in August 2018.  The Black-Eyed Susans are still there, although there are some other uninvited  plants growing there as well.  Perhaps I can get a picture of them tomorrow.  I would also like to cut a few to put in a vase in my house.

In the meantime, I am over 300 words and hope my readers have been at least mildly entertained.  I hope to go for a real blogging walk soon.

Columbo, Can You Help Me Now?

I am not having a Wrist to Forehead Sunday today for the simple fact that I am too tired to raise my wrist that high.  Wow, how pathetic is that?  What a big, lazy baby I am!  I mean, how much trouble is it to swoon dramatically?  Too much, apparently.  So I sit on the couch, trying to make some post, any post.

“One more thing.”

As I type (one letter at a time with the stylus), I am looking at an episode of Columbo on DVD.  I love Columbo.

Earlier today I went for a run.  I went grocery shopping, made some things for my week’s lunches, and fixed a tasty dinner for my husband, Steve, and me.  I suppose I could have come up with OK blog posts about any of those activities.  Hmmm… nope.  They just don’t move me.

I know, I know, one must not wait for inspiration nor to be in the mood to write.  We have been over this.  Can I think of anything new to say about it?  How about this:  this blog is my hobby.  I do it because it is fun.  I enjoy it.  Sometimes it is more of an effort than others, but I find that I am usually happy that I have made the effort.  It is like running in that respect:  you have to put up with the crap runs to get to the good ones.

Oh dear, that sounds like some of my blog posts are crap posts.  SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!

The point I was going for was that I like to blog about what moves me at the moment.  At the moment, I do not feel particularly moved.  However, I have managed to rattle on for over 250 words.  Steven has started another episode of Columbo.  I would like to watch it.

At Least I Voted

Once again, my blog is degenerating into late post after late post, whining about how tired I am.  But, hey, when I make a late post, I often do it on the laptop (dining room table top, as regular readers may recall), and I am reminded how much fun ten-fingered typing is.  I must purchase a new laptop.  That might be worth a blog post.

Be all that as it may, I was indeed too tired to make a post yesterday, and I was too tired to go for a walk this morning.  If  I was being less kind to myself, I could substitute lazy for tired, so you may may what judgements you like.  I got home from work tired but had things I needed to do.  Of course I did not do all of them, but I showered (an absolute necessity, given my job and the summer weather) and did a load of laundry (also a necessity if I did not want to wear dirty pants to work) (they are just going to get dirty again, but you’ll have that). Then my husband, Steve, and I headed to Basloe Library in Herkimer, NY to vote.

I am not really adept with my cell phone.

After we voted, I took an ussie, specifically for blogging purposes.  I was truly sorry to leave the library without pausing to look for a book or two, but we were hungry.  Accordingly, we went to Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant.  Steven got a bacon cheeseburger while I, tempted by the special, got a calzone with three toppings.  I picked meatballs, mushrooms, and black olives.  The reason I went for the meatballs was that I knew we would have a large amount leftover and Steven likes meat on pizza and such-like (isn’t a calzone just a folded-up pizza?).

Back home, all I wanted to do was sit on the couch and watch an episode of Dateline (love that Keith Morrison).  At least I crocheted while I watched, so it was not completely unproductive.  I really must up my crochet game and make more things than afghans, but that is for another day.

In the meantime, I see I am over 300 words.  I call that more than respectable for a late Tired Tuesday post.  Later on, I will strive not to Wuss Out on Wednesday, but as usual, no promises.  And just as an aside, why did I not dub it Wimp-out Wednesday?  Any thoughts?

(Ooh, 400 words! Score!)

Still Sharing Shakespeare?

I am still very tired.  Could I be getting old?  SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!  Is it Post-Play Letdown?   Does it now take me longer to recover from things?  Was it really so taxing to be in a mere play, for heavens’ sakes?  Or is something else at work?

I do not feel like analyzing things and am too tired to do it properly anyways.  I prefer to make a Throwback Thursday Post, even though I will no doubt share pictures I have thrown back to before.  Double throwback?  Maybe even triple or more.  Never mind, just share a picture.

I totally told them.

That’s me in yellow tights, acting up a storm in The Tempest in 2017, the last time LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company did Shakespeare (before we did Love’s Labour’s Lost  this year, of course).  Oh, you thought All Love’s Labour’s Lost All The Time was over? I guess not.

The whole bunch looks suspicious to me.

Here is a non-Shakespeare but still LiFT throwback, Rubbed Out at Ruby’s, an interactive murder mystery which I just happened to write.  Of course it was the talent and input of the cast that made it so memorable.  Theatre is a collaborative art, after all.

Does this look familiar?

OK, this is only throwing back to last weekend, but Love’s Labour’s Lost is still on my mind.

Thank you once again for tuning in.  As always, I will try for a better blog post tomorrow, but no promises.  After all, it will be Lame Post Friday.

Is This Any Way to Make a Blog Post?

Oh dear, it is the Type It In Backspace It Out Disease.  That is no way to make a blog post!  Hmm, that sounds like it could be a title.  Actually I am feeling right now that there is no way I can make a blog post, which is a little silly, because, well, here we are.  I am thinking this going to be a Wuss-out Wednesday Post.

It is still summer, isn’t it?

I threw in a picture to pep things up.  It is our skeleton, Bonita and her friend Bonaparte in summer mode.  We are beginning to get whiffs of fall these days, but it is definitely August.  We will still feel plenty of heat.

Pretty! Alas, they are no more.

Speaking of August,  here is a shot from August 2020.  I hope to up my gardening game in 2023.  Of course, I will be upping it from zero, so it will not be difficult to make some improvement.

My current mood?

From August 2019, I find some cloudy skies.  I love a cloudy, gloomy day.

It’s scary!

I close with a picture from Horror Hotel, because, hey, why not Mid-Week Monsters?

So this is my blog post.  I share pictures and babble on.  Did I mention I am still tired?  Oh, that was some of the stuff I typed in and backspaced out.

Mesa’d Up on Tired Tuesday

The problem with taking Monday off work is that Tuesday begins to feel awfully Mondayish.  On the other hand, it sets me up nicely for a Tired Tuesday Post.  I guess I am tired most days, but Tuesday is the day that makes it alliterative.  Never mind all that, what can I say to make the post interesting?

I could use such a nice dressing gown.

When in doubt, throw in a monster pic.  This is Claude Rains as The Invisible Man.  He is dressed for bed, which I felt was appropriate because I plan to go to bed soon.  Full disclosure: I do not wear such fancy pajamas.

“Forsooth and… stuff.”

I throw in a picture from  Love’s Labour’s Lost,  which closed Sunday, because it is still very much on my mind.  My lines are still jostling against each other in my head.  Then I remember that I don’t have to remember them any more.  Phew!

I guess I don’t really look like that.

Looking for another monster photo in my Media Library, I came across this movie poster.  I feel it is appropriate, because I feel lost and I am definitely a woman, although I do not live on a mesa with other lost women.  At least, I suppose  other women around me might feel lost at times, but they do not share that information with me.

What a post.  I covered being tired, mentioned the play, and shared monster pictures.  Kind of a Non-Sequitur Post.  I usually save those for Thursday.  What a time warp I am in! But I am over 250 words and not posting first thing in the morning.  I’m going to call that a win.

I Entertain a Blog Post

How about a Post-Rehearsal Post? I would normally end that sentence with a period not a question mark, since I intend to go ahead and make the post anyways. However, this evening I entertain doubts of my ability to do so.

By the way, “entertain doubts” is one of my favorite expressions. When you entertain doubts, how do you do it? Do you invite them into your parlor and serve tea? Or do you do a little song and dance, maybe some stand-up comedy? I lean towards the latter, being a theatre geek, but the idea of treating doubts as my honored guest also has its appeal.

But I digress.

I am doubting my ability to make a blog post, because I have a whanging headache (no, autocorrect, I do not mean a changing headache; I wish it would change!). I started to get it at rehearsal, as the sun seemed to set right into my eyes. It was even worse on the ride home. Kim was driving, so I must count my blessings. I took a couple extra strength acetaminophens when I got home, so that is another blessing I can count.

So this is my blog post. I can bill it as a Tired Tuesday or a Blogger’s Sick Day, but I guess it is really yet another Post About Why I Can’t Make a Blog Post. Once again, thank you for tuning in.

I Repeat Myself on Monstrous Monday

Time to make this week’s Monstrous Monday Post. I am feeling quite tired but not entirely useless. I went for a walk before work. Not a long walk nor yet a particularly brisk walk, but let us not dwell on the negatives. After work I did a load of laundry. No, I did not fold it, do I look like some kind of clean clothes maniac?

The most productive thing I did was write, type up and email an article for Mohawk Valley Living magazine. I started writing it during a break at work. Once again, I observed what I consider to be the damnedest thing: I can’t write the article, I can’t write the article, I can’t write the article, I sit down and write the article. It happens almost every month, and I can’t skip any of the “can’t write the article”s (that looks like an incorrect use of quotation marks, but it is what I mean).

This is not what I wrote.

I put in Nosferatu, because I remembered it is Monstrous Monday. I have shared this picture before, but for that matter, I have also written about can’t write the article etc.

I guess my ambition for Tired Tuesday is to find something new to say. However, since it will be a Pre-Rehearsal Post, no promises.

Sluggish, Stupid Saturday

I pick up my Tablet to make a Scattered Saturday Post, purely because I do not want to go a day without posting (counting the post I made this morning as yesterday’s), and I log on to WordPress to find that my last post got NO blogger love. I am such a Like junky, I find this rather devastating. But I tell myself it is a First World Problem and drive on.

There is not a whole lot to tell about my Saturday anyways. I mentioned earlier that I did not run. I had a headache so took a pill with a decongestant and pain reliever, and it made me feel rather sluggish. I was about to add that it made me feel stupid, but I have been feeling that pretty much all the time. Make whatever unkind remarks you like about me being stupid. There may be a joke there somewhere, but I am too tired to find it.

I did see my friend, Kim. We had lunch at Asteroga Ale House in Herkimer, NY. We went on to Pete’s Tavern for a drink but only stayed for one. Back home, my headache went away (finally) but I fear it is coming back. The sluggish, stupid feeling never left.

On the brighter side, I see I am over 200 words. I’m going to call that a win and go for a better blog tomorrow. As always, I hope you’ll tune in.
