Fun Party, Late Post

For this week’s Monstrous Monday Post, I thought I would share a few pictures of the Boo Bash at the Herkimer VFW last Saturday. Unfortunately, after I had downloaded the pictures from my camera, I was too tired to finish the post on Monday. So I thought I could finish it the next day and market it as a Tired Tuesday post. And now here I am Wednesday morning and still nothing published. Judge me if you are so inclined.

Steven especially liked the Reindeer antlers.

Our friend Tracy was visiting us from out of town. At her current job she is known as a woman who wears many hats. She decided to embrace it for her costume and wear almost every hat she owns. I should have taken several views, because you can’t see all the hats. I missed a bet!

I liked Steve’s had, too.

Steven kept it simple with a Halloween sweatshirt and pumpkin hat. I walked around snapping a few pictures of the decor.

He looks as if he’s making a little bow.

Nice centerpieces.
The bartender said this was his brother.

The DJ was from Bug Country, a local country radio station. He kept the party going with door prizes and good music.

He was fun.
A closer look at his costume.
He brought a couple friends.

There were a lot of fun costumes, but I only got a picture of my favorite. During the costume competition, I was among the people chanting, “Bridezilla! Bridezilla!”

Her groom was pretty cool, too.

After I took the picture, Bridezilla laughed at herself because she was smiling behind the mask. There were a lot of reasons to smile. It was a fun night.

Why in the world did it take me three days to make a post about it? Discuss amongst yourselves.

Fighting Lightheadedness and Autocorrect

I guess posting in the morning is a thing with me these days. Right now I am fighting the lightheadedness that periodically plagues me, but you’ll have that. (You know what else you’ll have: autocorrect putting capital letters where you don’t want them! I hope I manage to go back and fix them all) (And yet autocorrect let stand “fiz” for “fix”) (but I digress).

Where was I? Ah yes, making a Throwback Thursday Post, although since it is actually Friday morning (although my WordPress timestamp may not agree), we could also call it a Non-Sequitur Thursday. Or even Lame Post Friday! But let us not get bogged down in labels.

I contemplate myself.

This is only throwing back to June, when I ran in the Pride Stride 5K in Little Falls, NY. I am no hand at taking selfies.

I’m in the background of this one.

Here is a theatre throwback! It is Matt Powers mingling with the audience in Secrets at Suiter House, a murder mystery we did to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.

I’m not in this one.

This is a weird shot from December 2020, which of course was a kind of a weird time, for me and for others. I was taking a walk trying to get pictures of Christmas lights when I saw this leftover Halloween ghost. Or was it?

I see I have reached 200 words (in another officious autocorrect action, that almost read “00”). Score! I do not always reach that self-imposed goal these days. I hope you enjoyed my pictures. Thank you for tuning in.

Movies on my Mind

I last posted four days ago. This is not normal behavior for Mohawk Valley Girl. And about all I can manage right now is a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post. Or perhaps a Sunday Cinema Post. Hmmm…

Today has been a very relaxed day, even for a Sunday. After I took my post-run shower, I put on neither earrings nor a bra (do NOT say TMI) (you know who you are). I wore pajama bottoms and a Halloween t-shirt. We watched movies while I crocheted a crochet in Halloween colors (black, orange and purple).

My Sunday guy.

We started out with Dracula on Svengoolie, DVR’d recently. I was telling Steven some of the differences between the movie and the book, although it is not a bad adaptation for Hollywood.

We had a hard time deciding on a second feature but finally settled on Murder on the Orient Express, the newer, Kenneth Branaugh version, which Steven recently acquired on DVD.

A star-studded Agatha Christie romp!

I prefer the Albert Finney version, but the new one is entertaining, and I am happy to have it in our collection. After that, I wanted something cheesey and suggested Monster from Green Hell, which I picked up on video at a rummage sale some time ago.

It’s scary!

It actually took a lot of time to get to the monster, and there were some dull parts between attacks. You’ll have that with these old flicks. When the movie ended, Steven had stepped out of the room, so I sneaked in another cheesey rummage sale video, The Brain Eaters.

I don’t remember that chick in the movie.

I wrote about this movie some time ago in a post titled “Rest Your Brain With Brain Eaters.” Steven came up with that title. I need to start writing about cheese movies again. Um, and everything else I used to blog about.

Music on my Mind

I guess I had a real Wordless Wednesday as I went to bed without posting at all. I don’t have time for a real post right now (I have to work for a living), so how about a few pictures of local musicians instead?

Yay, music!

Last night Steven and I enjoyed music by Matt Grainger at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY.

Another favorite!

Here is another shot of Phil Arcuri at Iron Rock Brewing Company in Little Falls.

He was awesome too!

This is Mark Nanni, whose music we enjoyed last Wednesday at Fratello’s.

We have been enjoying a lot of good music lately. I hope soon to enjoy making more blog posts. As always, thank you for tuning in.

Tired Post about Good Music

I’m thinking nobody will be particularly surprised to see a Tired Tuesday post from Mohawk Valley Girl. Unless it is actually Wednesday by the time you are reading this. I have no control over these things. I can only be happy anybody is reading me at all.

Where was I? Never mind that, just tnrow in a picture.

Good music, yes!

Sunday we went to Iron Rock Brewing Company in Little Falls, NY, to enjoy music by Phil Arcuri. We had a wonderful time. Perhaps too good a time, which might explain why I was so tired on Monday. What is my excuse today?

More of Phil’s fans.

When I asked people at the bar if I could take their picture for my blog post, the guy with the beard asked for $500.

“I do not have $500,” I said.

“In that case, go ahead and take the picture,” he said. I felt this was very gracious of him. The other patrons and the bartender were equally as gracious.

One more of Phil.

It is so fun to hear Phil Arcuri play, because he is obviously having so much fun. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. And as always we enjoyed the atmosphere and service at Iron Rock.

Iron Rock Brewing Company is located at 56 West Mill St., Little Falls, NY, phone number 315-508-5313. They are open 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 3 to 10 p.m. Friday, 12 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Oh, To Be A Well-Dressed Skeleton!

Isn’t she pretty? Bonaparte thinks so.

You’ve heard of Wordless Wednesday? Well this is Mute Monday. I am too beat to blog (I just have to be alliterative about it), so here is a picture of our skeleton Bonita in her Halloween outfit, which Steven designed for her. I wonder if he could do anything with my wardrobe. Bonaparte is certainly admiring of Bonita’s ensemble.

Wine a Little? OK!

We did not make it to the Little Falls Cheese Festival, because we became preoccupied with decorating our front porch for Halloween (pictures to follow) (preview of coming attractions). However, once we had some lights hung, we decided to drive to Little Falls Elks Lodge for a wine tasting.

Good wine, nice lady.

Our poured was Meghan Tracy from Ann Street Liquors in Little Falls. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and what they would pair with.

We started with a New York State wine, a semi dry Riesling from Wagner’s Vineyards. I thought it tasted New Yorky, which is a quality I like. Wagner’s also offers a sweet and a dry Riesling. I need to look for the dry one.

We went on to a Giesen Sauvignon Blanc. This was also very nice. It comes from Marlboro, New Zealand, where they say all the best Sauvignon Blancs are from (not that I know who “they” are).

Both whites would be good with softer cheeses. The red wines we tasted would be good with harder, aged cheeses such as provolone and cheddar.

We first tried Bonterra Merlot, a California wine. I found it very smooth, not at all heavy. The last wine we tried was Atteca, a red wine utilizing Grenache grapes. I liked it best of the four.

We enjoyed the tasting very much, and decided to go home via Ann Street Liquors, to take a bottle home with some folks from other contributors.

Late, Lame, Where’s My Coffee?

When I mustered the oomph to make some semblance of a post early yeasterday, I had every intention of mustering oomph enough for a Lame Post Friday post later. It should come as no surprise that I did not. So here I sit on my couch, prior to 6 a.m., pecking into the Tablet with not much to say. Come on, coffee! Kick in and give me some semblance of a brain!

Where’s Tiffany?

I snapped this gem at Harborfest in Frankfort, NY last Saturday. I thought Chuckie might pep up my post a little.

Good doggy!

And here is more Harborfest fun. The larger skeleton was a wolf, who howled when you clapped. Sweet!

These pictures are apropos, because my husband Steven and I want to decorate our porch for Halloween soon. But when? I work all week, and on the weekend, Mohawk Valley Adventures beckon! Well I will see what I can do. But first, more coffee.

I’ve Got a Lot of Blogging to Do

So I managed some semblance of a post for Monday, then I missed three days. In my defense, I have no defense (I think I used that as a headline once). I do not have much time now (must get ready for work), so I will throw in a few pictures and call it a post.

Multi-talented!

We saw an awesome musician at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort Wednesday night. Steven said, “You must write about him!”

Sweet ride!

Did I mention Harborfest in Frankfort? It featured a great car show.

Loved these!

And this is from two weeks ago at a vendor show at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing in Ilion. Did I blog about that? I really must review my recent posts and fill in the gaps.

In the meantime, here is a short post, and thank you for tuning in.

I Don’t Have a Problem with Monsters

Am I having a problem with posting every day? Yes, as a matter of fact I am. I am having a lot of problems these days, and yet I hesitate to post about them. For one reason, it is so tiresome to do nothing but complain. For another reason, my mother reads this blog. I do not want her to worry.

Quick, post a picture of a monster. It is Monday after all.

It will cost you an arm and a leg!

This is not actually a monster, but a picture from a monster movie of a fellow who does not survive an encounter with a monster. Quite frankly, the guy was asking for it, although I try not to judge. The movie, by the way, is The Brain that Wouldn’t Die. We just watched it again yesterday.

“Rise and shine, master!”

I gave up trying to find a related picture and threw in my favorite, Nosferatu. He looks like he’s resting comfortably. I actually think that is Harker with him, not Renfield. I’ll need to watch that movie again.

Who me? Drink wine?

Tip #2: Know when to give up and make a Monstrous Monday Post instead.
