Not Really Friday and I Want a Beer!

Look at me, making my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  Only it is not really a Friday for me, because I have to work on Saturday.   I feel so ill-used!  I know, I know, many people have to work on Saturday.  I used to be one of them.  I mean, I used to have to work every Saturday of my life.  So I must count my blessings that I do not have to work every damn Saturday.

I believe it would make a dull post to spend 200 words complaining about having to work tomorrow,  so I will change the subject.  I know!  I will search my Media Library for a picture to pep things up.

Some people have no perception.

In fact, sometimes I am piddle-puttering.  I wonder if that word is hyphenated?  According to the plaque, lolly gagging and dilly dallying are not.

It often is.

I did have a rather stressful day.  However, I have had worse, and so once again I count my blessings.  I did indulge in a libation when I got home, but it was not beer.  I may go to Beer Belly Bob’s in Ilion, NY, and purchase some one day soon.

I don’t know if the bottom sign is still applicable.

Just to complete my post with a shout out:  Route 51 Beer Belly Bob’s Discount Beverage Center is located at 70 Otsego St., Ilion, NY, phone number 315-895-0936.  They are open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and  Saturday,  11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Sunday Stroll into the New Year

I have not been running or walking since mid-December when I got sick with the flu.  I decided to take January 1st to re-start with a walk.  I took my phone with me, so I could make a Pedestrian Post with Pictures.

It was warm for January, upper 30s, lower 40s (my thermostat is not strictly accurate).  It had been raining.  I had not gone very far when I saw it was still sprinkling.  I could not worry about that; I was out, I was going to continue.  I turned down German Street towards Main.  I slipped a little on some ice on the sidewalk, but there were plenty of bare patches.  I tried to stick with those.

I’d like to stay there sometime.

I passed the Grand Colonial Bed and Breakfast and took a picture,  so I could plug a local business.  Traffic was quiet enough that I could easily cross German at Main Street.  I wanted to walk down the path over what used to be a hydraulic canal.

It’s good to run on, too, but that is for another day.

I also took pictures of the plaques with information on the history.  Full disclosure:  I have never read them but only taken a glance while passing.

I guess I could read it now.

Maybe I’ll read them both the next time I go for a walk.

I crossed German in the middle of the block to continue down the path.

The more fun section of the path.

After leaving the path, I headed toward my beloved Herkimer Historic Four Corners.

I tried to get all four corners as I approached.

I guess I cut off the top of the church.

I could use a wider angle lens.

I decided to try to make it a long walk, since I am getting back into things after a break.  I ended up walking up and down my driveway for about 40 seconds in order to make it a full 20 minutes.  I was quite pleased with my walk.  I hope to take another one tomorrow.

Not Wuss-out, Shout-out!

I should have known I would wuss out on Wednesday.  I had to work late (for me).  But never mind that.  Instead of another post that is not really a Post (autocorrect decided to capitalize that, and I think I like it), I will share a couple more pictures from my Saturday adventures, thus giving another shout-out to a local business.  I have used this headline before, but I guess I am wussing out on coming up with a better one.

Aren’t they cool?

This is from Rose Quartz Stand in Herkimer, NY, who recently moved next door to a larger space.  They have all kinds of gems and minerals, but I am particularly fascinated by the geodes.  How do the geologists (if those are the ones that find them) know which rocks to crack open?

Very pretty!

I have purchased several of these angels for friends.  Who couldn’t use a little blessing?

There are also some delightful animals carved from stone.  I have a small collection, which I usually add to when I stop there.

Rose Quartz Stand is located on the corner of Mohawk and South Main streets in Herkimer.  315-868-5199. They are open Tuesday and Wednesday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.,  Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday.  You can also Like them on Facebook.

Will I Have the Last Laugh?

I meant to make a post using more pictures taken on a recent walk, but those pictures are on my phone and here I am on my Tablet.  Still, the phone is on the coffee table.  I could pick it up and look…

Or not.  My only purpose now is to make a Post-Rehearsal Post.  And I might even eat an ice cream cone out of the freezer before I do so.

It is not actually chocolate running down this head.

I put in an unrelated picture to show the passage of time while I ate ice cream.  I do not remember if I actually used this picture to give a shout-out to Yettys Pizza and Pasta of Herkimer, NY.  I must look at my past posts and make sure I have done so.

Did somebody say murder mystery?

I scrolled through my Media Library till I found a picture of a murder mystery, because the rehearsal I was at was for a murder mystery: He Laughed Himself to Death.  It will be presented on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Herkimer Elks Lodge, to benefit Herkimer County Historical Society.

I just now copied this from Facebook.

Now I have given a proper shout-out to the murder mystery.   I am going to bill this as a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post,  because I have been a little all over the place.  If only I could think of a sufficiently random headline, my life would be perfect.

Shakespeare? Scattered? At Least It’s Saturday

I think it is the whole cast!

I was about to try to make my Scattered Saturday Post when my friend Kim sent me this picture from Love’s Labour’s Lost that I had not used yet. Obviously I was forced to share it.

Yes, I am still recovering from my experiences putting on a Shakespeare play.  I have still managed to have a fairly enjoyable weekend.  I took a longish walk Friday and a long walk Saturday.  I patronized a few local businesses.

One stop I made on Saturday was at Rose Quartz Stand on Mohawk Street in .Herkimer,  NY.  I purchased a little stone animal for my collection.  My collection sits around the boxes which hold the ashes of our two sadly departed dogs.  I feel happy to add to the collection periodically.

I also stopped at Mohawk Village Market and the Polish Community Home.  I did not take pictures at either place. In fact, the picture shared above is from an earlier visit to Rose Quartz Stand.

Full disclosure:  I have had a bit to drink and am not quite up to making a proper blog post.  In my defense,  I am of age and I am not driving.  This has been my defense for many things for many years.  It’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

Short, Late Post about Good Music and Food

Oops, I missed making my Wednesday blog post, a true Wuss-out Wednesday, I suppose. I did not have rehearsal, so naturally Steve and I went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY for music and food. Stay home and study my lines, you suggest? I can do that later. Phil Arcuri was playing!

Old photo, but he still looks like this.

We chatted up our favorite bartender, Toni (although we like all the bartenders), and enjoyed a shrimp basket (Steve) and a Cuban wrap (me).

Another previously used photo.

I don’t have time to make a proper blog post (that is, 200 words) (by my rules for me), but for a late Wuss-out Wednesday Post, I hope this will do.

Another Short Post About a Good Wednesday

My husband, Steve, and I just returned from a lovely Wednesday night at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY. Normally at this time I would be getting ready for bed and saying, “Oh hell, I can miss a day of blogging.” Yes, I can. However, I prefer not to.

He’s awesome!

Full disclosure: this is a picture from another night, found in my Media Library.

We sang along with many of his songs, sometimes changing the words. Instead of “Brown-eyed girl,” I sang to my “Green-eyed boy.” I was not the only one doing so. On another song, instead of, “Amy, what you wanna do?” Phil sang, “Cindy, ” etc. I was quite flattered.

We also enjoyed delicious food, served by our favorite bartender, Toni. We brought home leftovers. Yay!

So this is my short post. Call it a Wuss-out Wednesday and drive on.

Accordion, Too!

I never wrote much about Mark Nanni, the musician we enjoyed at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort recently.

We loved him!

He played keyboard, guitar and accordion. Another patron was enjoying the music a lot, too.

“I’m going to call you Billy Bad-ass!” he said.

Mark graciously accepted the compliment, remarking that you can’t give yourself a name like that; it has to be bestowed upon you.

You don’t see a lot of accordions these days.

The accordion made me think of Fritz’s Polka Band, another local favorite. I see that my list of local favorites grows. I say, bring it! I love music.

Another Late, Brief Musical Post

How fast can I do this?

I’m tired of missing posts! So here is the Wuss-out Wednesday Post I should have done at least four hours ago (yes I get up in the middle of the night; overtime, ugh). Only I do not have a lot of time, so I will merely share a couple photos that might have gone into a posts I meant to make.

Phil Arcuri, having a great time as usual.

A week ago yesterday, we were at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, enjoying the musical stylings of Phil Arcuri.

Great service!

We were happy to see our favorite bartender, Toni.

I don’t have time to make a proper post, but for now, this will have to do. As always, thank you for tuning in.

Too Tired for Words

So I asked myself, what are you doing, scrolling down Facebook? I couldn’t find an answer, then I remembered I had got on the Tablet to make my blog post. Yes, it is Tired Tuesday.

I have done blog posts before saying I got nuthin’, but this time I really, truly have not a word to say. Fortunately (or unfortunately, if you don’t like this sort of thing), I tend not to let that stop me.

I just spent rather a ridiculous amount of time scrolling through my Media Library looking for a picture to brighten things up. I finally came across this shot from last June, when I purchased a bouquet from Houle Flower Farm in Little Falls, NY. I need to get some more flowers to brighten my life.

Well, so much for my boast of not letting lack of words stop me. I can’t think of another thing to say. But at least I plugged a local business. I can only hope for more words tomorrow.
