Here I Am! I Hope!

I think I found a way to get back to Classic Editor.  I start a post, save it, get out of it, find it under “all posts,” and then I can click on “Classic Editor, ” and here I am!  I do not know if this will continue to work, but I will enjoy it for today at least.

My computer woes continue.  My laptop turns on, but I cannot get it out of Airplane mode.  I thought surely I would be able to, since I have done so before. But even after calling myself Shirley, I failed (get it?  Airplane? Surely/Shirley? Well, I thought I was funny).  Additionally, I can no longer get onto WordPress on my phone.  And there was a picture in it I wanted to use. Rats!

Here I am!

I remembered I had shared the picture to Facebook so downloaded it to my Tablet from there. Phew!  I may catch up with technology at last!

This is a selfie taken after my run yesterday.  I know, I finished my challenge of 34 minutes for 34 days and then take a selfie (remember that?).  I did not even take selfies all 34 days.  I don’t like taking selfies.  But I felt like taking one yesterday. For one reason, it had snowed and I hoped some had stayed on my hat.  No such luck, but I snapped the pic anyways.

I thought I might crash and burn after my 34 days, but I have not quite done that.  My runs have been shorter and not every day, but I am still getting out there.  I may even make a Running Commentary Post again soon.

In the meantime,  I see I am over 250 words.  I think I will call this a Tired Tuesday Post and drive on.  Full disclosure: I actually got a lot done today, but it would probably make a dull post.  I’ll try for a good Mohawk Valley Adventure tomorrow.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Too Tired to Tingle

I ran 15K again yesterday, at the mini maker sponsored by Copper City Brewing and Roman Runners.  I proceeded to celebrate my achievement with the result that I did not make a post last night and I am taking a Blogger’s Sick Day today.  I am TIRED! I made it through the day at work. When I got home I put trash and recyclables by the curb.  And I cooked a little supper.

Oh, just listen to me babble!  Quick, put in a monster picture.

I have similar dark circles under my eyes.

I need some rubber chickens in my life.  The above, of course, is Svengoolie, beloved horror host.  I said Blogger’s Sick Day,  but perhaps this will be a Monstrous Monday as well.

Poisonous? Or a sqeezer?

Some people are terrified of snakes.  This one does not look too threatening.  He (or she, I can’t tell) is painted on a walking path near my house.

Who does her hair?

Here is one of my favorites,  Elsa Manchester as The Bride of Frankenstein.   Hubba, hubba!

Now there’s a tight necktie!

I was looking for a picture of a sleepy or sleeping monster, but how about a monster on a sleeping victim?  It is Vincent Price in The Tingler.  And that brings me over 200 words.  Score!  And Happy Monday, all.

PS  I plan to write a post aboit the mini maker, hopefully by tomorrow.

From Little Falls to my Yard and Back

Sometimes Tired Tuesday follows Monstrous Monday,  we all know that.  I won’t bother telling you why I’m tired; explanations are so tiresome.  I will attempt instead to share a few pictures and make a non-tiresome post.  No promises.

A depiction how I feel: old and fat.

This is one of the pictures I took last Friday at Showcare Antiques of CNY in Little Falls.  In case you can’t read the card, it is an historical ovoid jug.  Ovoid is a good word, which, unfortunately my autocorrect wants to change to “avoid.”

I never gave him a name. Any suggestions?

Making this more of a Non-Sequitur Tuesday, I put in my alligator (or crocodile; I don’t know whether I will see him later or in a while).  I need to find a better spot for him.  Perhaps he would like to lurk amid my Brown-eyed Susans.

A place for a reptile to lurk?

I have several overgrown spots he might like.  He previously resided under Frankentree in my front yard, but I got tired of moving him every time I mowed.

Regular readers will remember Frankentree.

So I went from antiques in Little Falls to my yard in Herkimer.  Can I find another shot from Little Falls to tie this post together or will it be hopelessly non sequitur?

A great place for coffee and a snack.

I think this is a shot of Little Falls which maintains this post’s non sequitur status:  The Cafe at Stone Mill.

And here we are, approaching 250 words.  Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I Know! We’ll Blame it on the Weather!

This was actually not the illustration I was looking for.

It is not Writer’s Block; it is Writer’s Blank.  I can pick up a pen (or a stylus as the case may be) and produce words, but they are not the words I want.  When I try to think of characters, scenes, plot… nothing.

Yet I must persevere.

This isn’t it either, but what the hell, it is Tuesday.

I knew I could at least manage a Tired Tuesday Post.  I have been trying to abide by my rule of Any Writing Counts, but so far it has not been working out well.  Today I only made some notes in the TV Journal.  Yesterday I managed a couple of cards, before that a letter.  However, when I put pen to paper and attempt fiction, nothing.

THIS is the one I was looking for!

I really did put pen to paper and try.  I feel this is important.  There are many times (and I feel sure I am not the only one here) when I feel so discouraged, I do not even try.  I will, of course, try again.

In the meantime,  this is yet another blog post about not writing.  I wonder if I can’t find one more illustration, for your amusement and mine.

Me not be dramatic? Dream on!

Perhaps the hot humid weather is to blame for my malaise.  Most likely it is, as usual, operator error.  However, I shall try again tomorrow.  Sooner or later I hope to meet with success.

I Need More Effort On My Blog Posts

Regulat readers know, Tired Tuesday often follows Monstrous Monday.  The reason I am tired today is that I expended great effort cleaning my living room.  It may perhaps have called for less effort had I not waited so long to do a real cleaning.  What can I say?  I can cry that I waited too long, or smile because I finally did it.

Oh, look at me, trying to avoid judgement for my laziness!  All right, I accept judgement and hang my head in shame.  For one reason, I am too tired to defend myself.

The sad thing is, my living room does not lend itself to pictures as readily as my yard.  I could not work in my yard today, because it rained ALL DAY.  I think it just now stopped.

Obviously prior to cleaning.

This isn’t the picture I thought it was!  But it does show a portion of my living room.  Most of the stuff you see has been moved, so this area is not nearly as cluttered.  Hmmm… I think it is a little boring.  I will share another picture after I make some improvements.

This is obviously prior to said improvements.

Here is the picture I was looking for!  I believe this shows the normal eclectic nature of my life.  Yes, I am a mess.  But I am an interesting mess.  I hope.

In any case, I am over 200 words.  Happy Tuesday!

Feeling Sapped on Saturday

It was another Saturday without much scatter to it.  In my defense, I ran for over an hour (63 minutes, to be exact), and that really takes it out of me.  I spent the rest of the day wanting to take a nap.  Of course when I finally laid down and tried to take one, I had no luck at all.  These things happen to insomniacs like me.

My friend Kim and I went to a neighbor’s garage sale and got a few good buys.  The neighbor missed the Village Wide Sales, because he had to work, but he seemed to be getting a good number of shoppers.

After shopping, Kim and I hung out with Steven on the deck, his favorite spot to be these days.  We had some good laughs, as we usually do.  After Kim left, Steven and I went inside and watched Creepshow, one of the DVDs I had just purchased.  I have to say we were a little disappointed. When we watch it again, I may fast forward through the boring parts.

So this is turning out to be a dull blog post.  Could the hot weather be sapping me of all entertainment value?  SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!  In any case, I see I am over 200 words.  I’ll try to be more entertaining on Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

I Get My Butt Kicked

I started to make a Running Commentary Post this morning but had a headache.  I wonder if I can do it now.  We shall see.

It was raining when I got up,  around 4:30 (I went to bed early last night), so I turned on the coffee and relaxed for a while.  That also gave me time to drink water.  Water and coffee, it should have been an awesome run!

Of course it was not.  When do things ever go the way I expect them to?  NEVER!  As soon as I started running, my legs started complaining.  What the hell, I had to ask.  I HAVE been running on a regular basis.  I had had it in my head to run the kick-buttest hill in my area.  As I ran toward it, I questioned my intentions.  Never mind, I told myself, just keep going.

On the way to said hill, I went up the hill by Valley Health.  It was hard!  I thought, this is it for me.  I would keep running a long run, but no more hills.  I ran on toward the kick-butt hill but intended to take the last possible turn to avoid it.  Naturally I second guessed myself about this.  How could I train properly if I did not run challenging hills?  Then again, I have plenty of time before my Virtual Boilermaker 15K to run hills.  Then yet again… if dithering burned calories, I would have no problems meeting my weight loss goals.

As I approached the hill and the avoiding turn, I observed a couple of pick-up trucks with some workmen near a house.  I thought I would greet them.  I like to greet people when I run.  The avoiding turn was right before the house they were at.  Oh, heck, I thought to myself, let’s get our butt kicked.

“Good morning, fellas,” I said.  One man turned around and returned the greeting.

“I is about to get my butt kicked,” I said.  He laughed.

And I proceeded to do just that.  This hill goes on and on and up and up.  Yikes!  I have done it a few times in recent memory.  They are not good memories.

However, I persevered and made it to the top.  Yay, me!  What a pleasure to go downhill after!  I went up a couple shorter hills before the end of my run.  I laughed at them.  When I am running with others and we come to a hill, I like to say, “Hill schmill, this ain’t no hill, we got this stinkin’ hill!”

So I ended up being happy I ran the kick-butt hill.  I went on to run for a total of 57 minutes, which is my current longest time (set this past Sunday).  Then I felt tired and headachey for the rest of the day.  What’s that all about?  I thought exercise was supposed to make you feel better!

No matter.  I ran.  I blogged.  I wait to see what tomorrow will bring.

Few Accomplishments on Tired Tuesday

I did not do anything bloggable today.  I went for a short run this morning, during which my legs said, “What’s up with this?  We didn’t sign up for this!” and my breathing went, well, “puff, pant, puff.”  I went shopping for a couple of things, but not to the locally owned, distinctive stores I love (sorry, folks, sometimes I need mass produced items).  My only real accomplishments were a load of laundry and two letters.  And I fear they were short, illegible, and uninteresting.

Oh dear, now it seems I am making a whiny blog post.  Let me share one of the pictures I took this afternoon.

This may be a metaphor for my life.

This is my driveway and front walk.  I have been meaning to do something about all these weeds.  I mean something other than staring at them and shaking my head.  Yesterday, I looked up (for the second or third time), a natural spray for them and mixed up a batch.

It has vinegar, salt, and dish soap.

After first starting to pour it into a squirt bottle with holes, I located an intact squirt bottle and got to squirting.  I re-squirted again this morning, then headed out this afternoon, armed with gardening gloves, a screwdriver, and high hopes.

Which were soon dashed.  I am not sure if my weed mixture did anything at all, but it certainly was not the miracle I was hoping for.  I poked and pulled and huffed and puffed.  Soon sweat was pouring down my face and my back was aching.  I bent over, I squatted, I sat, I knelt.  I had to laugh at myself.  What a crazy old lady I must have looked like!

I persevered for a half hour, maybe a little more.  I got a lot of dirt on myself and made some amount of visible progress.  However, I did not take a picture.  Oh, OK, I will go out and take a picture now (ooh, look at me, blogging in real time).

It’s a work in progress.

You can see why I did not list this among my accomplishments for the day, especially when I mention there are a lot more cracks with weeds.  Still, I gave it a shot.  People who took care of the weeds in their walks earlier in the season, I congratulate you.  I am hoping to do better next year.  In the meantime, I hope this will do for my Tired Tuesday Post.

No Brain, Mummers, Mummy… How Monstrous!

I normally do not call it Mid-week till Wednesday,  but I really want to make a Monstrous Post.  Then again, who knows what will catch my eye when I go to my Media Library?  Maybe I should just go for a Tired Tuesday.  How fun to begin a blog post with no idea of where it is going!  I shall try to plan better for tomorrow,  just for a compare/contrast.

How would you like to fit this guy with glasses?

How appropriate for me to find the monster from The Brain That Wouldn’t Die on a day when my brain has definitely died. Oh how I love a cheesy horror movie!

HOW I miss my theatre friends!

I found the first picture in June 2018.  The above is from June 2019.  They are Mummers Along the Mohawk, a group that performed at The Great American Irish Festival.  Only the headgear makes them monstrous.  In the performance they are merely boisterous players, and in real life utterly delightful people.

You could not toss and turn. Just saying.

I put in this sleeping (for now) mummy, because I was feeling a little tired myself (you know, Tired Tuesday).  Personally, I have trouble sleeping on very warm nights, in addition to suffering from insomnia in general.  I can only imagine how difficult it must be for the undead in the dessert.

My favorite side eye.

I close with a more familiar shot from The Brain That Wouldn’t Die.  It is perhaps my favorite cheesy movie.  Then again, I have not seen them all.  So many things gs to add to my To Do List!  No wonder I am tired.

In General, This Is Not A Hot Post

Yesterday I made a blog post about how it was too hot to make a decent blog post.  Therefore, it behooves me not to do the same thing today.  Yikes.  I know, a word like “yikes” generally rates an exclamation point.  Sorry; I’m just too hot.  So much for making a blog post about something different.  No, no, don’t give up on me!  I’ll try to come up with something!

That’s right, General! Point the way!

I searched my Media Library for a picture with snow.  Here is the statue of General Herkimer in Meyers Park in Herkimer,  NY.  He sports a mask these days, and there are flowers around the base.

We can see the mask but not the flowers, so you will just have to take my word for it.

You can see by the delicate green on the trees in the background that I took this picture a couple of months ago.  That would be when I was hoping it would be warm enough to sit outside instead of being afraid it was too hot to do so.  Do you get the feeling I am never happy?  Well, I try.

OK, I just tried three times to add a photo of my feet lounging on my deck.  However, my Tablet will not cooperate.  Regular readers know I am fairly technologically incompetent.  On the other hand, I see I have rambled my way up over 200 words.  I think I will share a picture of flowers and call it a Tired Tuesday Post.  Let’s hope for cooler weather and a better blog post tomorrow.

My Johnny Jump-ups are still looking good!
