Late Post, Little Point

I started to write a blog post while on break at work. It was not a very good one, so I stopped working on it and worked on a cryptogram puzzle instead. Now I am home and tired as I can be, yet I still want to make a blog post.

And that was when I decided I was too tired and gave it up. Now it is Tuesday morning, and I have enough time to finish this post or make my lunch. Maybe for both?

Me with my rough draft.

So here’s a late Monstrous Monday Post. If I make it short enough, I may be able to fix my lunch. And write the post card I just now remembered I meant to do.

Who me? Have a glass of wine?

Full disclosure: I did not have a glass of wine yesterday. I almost put “did not enjoy a glass of wine,” but that could have meant I had the glass; I just didn’t enjoy it. What a sad Monday that would be!

It seems this is a rather pointless post. Reading over what I have so far, I have no ideas for a headline. Headlines are hard. That last sentence brought me to 199 words. So at least it isn’t a short post. I hope you all had a more productive Monday.

Who Me? Drink and Type?

Full disclosure: I am making this post after drinking wine. On the other hand, it is Lame Post Friday. Why the hell not?

Candice DeLong is fine, yes.

We have been enjoying episodes of Deadly Women on ID. The first two episodes were live TV, the second three On Demand (we are looking at the third as I type this). We had previously seen at least two episodes but did not remember all the details.

OK, I just spent a LONG time scrolling through my Media Library looking for one of the other Deadly Women illustrations I know are there. It is taking far too long. Is it the fault of my Tablet? My WordPress account! I don’t care!

I would like to continue this nonsense for at least 200 words (Holy crap! My autocorrect allowed me to type in 200 without trying to change it to 00!) but am sceptical of my ability to do so. Oh, the trials and tribulations!

It turns out I am not too concerned with these self-imposed parameters. I have published something, anything. I shall go back to enjoying my Friday night. And by enjoying, I mean going to bed. Or do I mean drinking more wine? A little suspense adds interest to my weekend.

By the way, it is over 200 words (this time autocorrect did try to change it to 00).

I Had a Monstrous Time Trying to Write

I knew earlier today I would make a blog post about Not Writing. I knew it when I got to work early, took out my notebook, put pen to paper, and… no words. I don’t even know how to describe it. I usually say Writer’s Blank, as opposed to Writer’s Block, but it was more than a blank mind. It was a complete lack of mental function. Cue unkind remarks about how my mental facultlies’ functioning is sporadic at best.

At least he managed more than a blank page.

I threw in a picture of Nosferatu so I could combine a whiny I Can’t Write Post with a Monstrous Monday Post. Regular readers know how much I love my monsters.

It was quite the disappointment this morning when my brain refused to work. I suppose some people would have advised me to write anyways, that I was just being lazy or timorous, there’s no such thing as Writer’s Block! They could have a point. I did give up rather quickly.

Maybe my brain had been eaten!

The thing is, sometimes I want to give myself a break. Sometimes I am completely disinclined to sit in front of a blank page feeling huge resistance. Sometimes I just want to open my puzzle book and work on a cryptogram.

Um, I did not pour myself a glass of wine at work.

As I type this (on my Tablet, one letter at a time with the stylus, just to give you the picture), I am suddenly not inclined to let myself off the hook. For heaven’s sake, I say to myself, couldn’t I have written SOMETHING? Perhaps not the project at hand, but another project, a blog post, a letter, anything! Did I even try?

That’s it! We’ll blame it on Monday!

This self-recrimination is useless. I can’t jump into a time machine, return to this morning and try again, a little harder this time, to write. All I can do is work on the next time I put pen to paper.

In the meantime, I am over 300 words and have included a couple monsters. Let’s call it a blog post. Thank you for tuning in.

Lame Will Tell

Hello and welcome to Lame Post Friday, my day for random observations and half-baked philosophy. I fear I don’t have much of either in mind but do not despair of coming up with something reasonably entertaining for my readers (if any).

Cheers from Mohawk Valley Girl.

I looked through my Media Library looking for a picture with wine, because I have been enjoying a glass. Hey, it’s Friday. The picture above was taken at Waterfront Grille in Herkimer, NY. I may be stopping by there tomorrow (preview of coming attractions) for a meet-and-greet recruiting event for Kiwanis. I was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Potsdam many years ago. It might be fun to join again.

Here is a random observation: I have somehow changed my WordPress so that after I type in a paragraph, it goes grey. Only the paragraph I am currently typing is black and easily visible to my old eyes. It is annoying. I guess that is what I get for clicking on things indiscriminately. I am SO technologically un-savvy.

Just a random snow picture.

Here is a picture of snow from 2020. It looks remarkably similar to the snow that is outside now. I show it to emphasize that all Mohawk Valley Adventures are weather permitting. I hope I will be admitted a few tomorrow. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

But Dracula Said, “I Never Drink Wine”

This is a — wait for it– monstrous situation. I made a post about being depressed and then did not post again for an entire week! What the hell, me? And when will autocorrect internalize the fact that I do so want to say “hell” not “he’ll”? These are points to ponder. In the meantime, I will attempt to ease back into blogging with a Monstrous Monday Post.

He looks a little stunned.

The beauty part about not posting for a while is that I have not used any photos from my Media Library recently. No, I have not yet completed the upgrade which will allow me to post new images. One step at a time; I’m still trying to get myself to post at all these days!

Anyways, here is my favorite guy, Nosferatu. Oh it HAS been a long time; instead of offering “Nosferatu” on predictive text, autocorrect changed it to “Nowhere to.” SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!

Quite a different style of vampire.

This delightful blood-sucker has resided on our wall since my husband gave him to me one Christmas some years ago. You may notice the stocking hanging from his neck. He also carries a green bell, but that is less noticeable.

Full disclosure: I already had the wine.

I would have liked to close with another vampire, but I find my Media Library increasingly difficult to navigate. Operator error, the story of my life. On the brighter side, I am approaching 250 words. I say not bad for a Monday after a week off.

W(h)ining About Monsters and Blog Posts

Should I do a Monstrous Monday Post or a Monday Middle-aged Musings? I have not done one of the latter in a while. In fact, I think I even changed it to Monday Mental Meanderings. Fine blogger I am; I can’t even keep my features straight. However, I confess to enjoying these foolish posts where all I do is blather on for a while.

I’m afraid she’s not that into him.

I put in a romantic picture: the monster demands a mate, according to the movie advertising. Sadly, in the movie the match does not work out. Oh dear, should I have prefaced that with a spoiler alert?

Her outfit in the movie was less sexy.

Here is more Bride of Frankenstein art work from my Media Library. I should have had a bridal gown like that, although my figure was never quite that flawless.

But I wanted to give up around four this morning.

It is increasingly clear that I have little of substance to say. Full disclosure: I already had that glass of wine. I have been rejoicing that I only have a three day week (oh do not try to shame me, any of you who do not; I have been there, in fact, I just worked two six day weeks, so shut up already!). And I just realized: one down, two to go! Happy Monday, everyone!

Wine a Little? OK!

We did not make it to the Little Falls Cheese Festival, because we became preoccupied with decorating our front porch for Halloween (pictures to follow) (preview of coming attractions). However, once we had some lights hung, we decided to drive to Little Falls Elks Lodge for a wine tasting.

Good wine, nice lady.

Our poured was Meghan Tracy from Ann Street Liquors in Little Falls. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and what they would pair with.

We started with a New York State wine, a semi dry Riesling from Wagner’s Vineyards. I thought it tasted New Yorky, which is a quality I like. Wagner’s also offers a sweet and a dry Riesling. I need to look for the dry one.

We went on to a Giesen Sauvignon Blanc. This was also very nice. It comes from Marlboro, New Zealand, where they say all the best Sauvignon Blancs are from (not that I know who “they” are).

Both whites would be good with softer cheeses. The red wines we tasted would be good with harder, aged cheeses such as provolone and cheddar.

We first tried Bonterra Merlot, a California wine. I found it very smooth, not at all heavy. The last wine we tried was Atteca, a red wine utilizing Grenache grapes. I liked it best of the four.

We enjoyed the tasting very much, and decided to go home via Ann Street Liquors, to take a bottle home with some folks from other contributors.

I Don’t Have a Problem with Monsters

Am I having a problem with posting every day? Yes, as a matter of fact I am. I am having a lot of problems these days, and yet I hesitate to post about them. For one reason, it is so tiresome to do nothing but complain. For another reason, my mother reads this blog. I do not want her to worry.

Quick, post a picture of a monster. It is Monday after all.

It will cost you an arm and a leg!

This is not actually a monster, but a picture from a monster movie of a fellow who does not survive an encounter with a monster. Quite frankly, the guy was asking for it, although I try not to judge. The movie, by the way, is The Brain that Wouldn’t Die. We just watched it again yesterday.

“Rise and shine, master!”

I gave up trying to find a related picture and threw in my favorite, Nosferatu. He looks like he’s resting comfortably. I actually think that is Harker with him, not Renfield. I’ll need to watch that movie again.

Who me? Drink wine?

Tip #2: Know when to give up and make a Monstrous Monday Post instead.

Me, Need Beauty Rest?

I want to make a fast post then try to get some sorely needed beauty rest. I think we can bear another Throwback Thursday Post. Of course I cannot remember which pictures I shared last Throwback Thursday (and as usual am too lazy to go back and look), but I shall try not to repeat myself much. Then again, isn’t Throwback Thursday all about repeating ourselves? Discuss amongst yourselves

I do not know if they ever found an answer.

The above is an actual headline from the Utica OD. I originally took the picture to share on one of my pun pages on Facebook. I still like it.

My favorites are always theatre throwbacks. This is from The Tempest, presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company, at Benton Landing in Little Falls, NY, back in 2017. Fun times.

A toast to friendship!

My other favorites include friends and wine! This is me and my friend Phyllis at Gerber’s 1933 Tavern in Utica, NY. Note to self: check if they have re-opened yet.

I think a few closing words will bring me up to 200, my usual goal. Oh, I am tired! I don’t care if rest makes me beautiful or not, I need some! I hope you all had a lovely Thursday.

10K, Wine, and Fritz

I shall make a fast Scattered Saturday Post, just so as not to be late yet again. Full disclosure: I have had a little wine and will greatly enjoy to return to the sitting on the couch, knitting, television watching portion of the day.

I ran the 10K this morning, slowly. I wore my Garmin (actually my friend Jay’s Garmin, which he nicely long term loaned me), so I knew I was running faster than my normal pace. I guess everybody runs a little faster on race day. The run really took it out of me. I took a nap later this morning.

After the nap, I had some iced coffee and Gatorade, drinking double fisted, not mixed together. I almost forgot to write my weekly postcards but luckily remembered before pick-up time for the mail boxes in front of the post office. I walked there, then downtown, where some Herkimer Diamond Days festivities were happening.

A band was playing. My husband Steven and our friend Kim joined me. We purchased a slice at Enzo’s Pizza and carried it across to the End Zone for a glass of wine.

By the time we were ready to leave, Fritz’s Polka Band was playing. We danced to “Secret Agent Man” while I took a picture.

I love these guys!

I’m afraid the picture did not turn out very well. I guess this is one of those Saturdays where the day is better than the blog post. You’ll have that. On the brighter side, I made a post! That is not a given these days. Thank you for tuning in.
