Nosferatu CAN Help Me Now!

I said to myself, I will just go ahead and make my Monday blog post. I won’t mention how I missed my Saturday and Sunday posts, and maybe nobody will notice.  And this is why I hate  making plans: my plans always go to hell.  Yes, I know, in this case the problem was Operator Error.  MY WHOLE LIFE IS OPERATOR ERROR!

OK, got that out of my system.  On with a Monstrous Monday Post.

My favorite!

I resort to my Media Library rather than seeking new monster pictures.  I worry about duplication.  Anyways, I have so many monster pictures and I love to re-share them.

Speaking of monsters…

This picture  was right near Nosferatu in my Media Library, and I find it apropos after missing two blog posts.  What is it with me and not writing?  I am much happier when I write. There might be a blog post here about why I do not always do what is patently good for me.  I’ll see if I can write it sometime.

“Did you knock on my door?”

And here is Nosferatu again.  I have not seen that movie in a while.  I do not watch silent movies very often, because it is difficult to follow them while knitting or crocheting.

It seems I have reached 200 words without saying a whole hell of a lot (dear autocorrect: it is almost never he’ll).  Perhaps I should up my daily quota to 250.  Oh, who am I kidding, I never have that much good to say.  But I thank you all for tuning in.

Will Monday Conquer Me?

Not literally, unfortunately.

As August grinds to a close, I observe two kinds of people:  The ones that lament the end of summer, and the ones that just can’t wait to go on to fall.  Guess which category I fall into.

Actually, as I get older I strive to avoid wishing for that which patently cannot be.  It is August.  It will remain August for the allotted number of days.  And the temperature will be what it chooses, based on barometric pressure or other meteorological conditions which I do not understand; my personal preferences will not affect it in the slightest degree (see what I did there?).

All this by way of introduction to a Monstrous Monday blog post in which I will strive not to whine about how over-heated I am.  No promises.

It is really not as sexy as the poster implies.

Saturday afternoon when my husband,  Steven fell asleep on the love seat, I seized the opportunity to put in a cheesy horror movie.  I picked this one up on VHS at a rummage sale, so its cheesy bonafides were assured. I had seen it before but do not remember doing a blog post on it.  I miss those write-ups I used to do on cheesy movies.  They were fun to write, although they did not usually get a lot of blogger love.  Regular readers know what a Like junkie I am.

Not an actual depiction of wage slaves going to work on Monday.

I close with an image of what it sometimes feels like trying to function on a Monday.  Oh hell, I get that feeling on and off all week!  Please don’t tell my boss.  I do try to fight it.

Regarding this foolish blog post, I see I am approaching 300 words. I call that respectable.  I hope you will all join me again tomorrow for what may or may not be a Tired Tuesday Post.

Who, Me? Not Like Monday? Monstrous!

It came, it saw, it kicked my ass.  It was… MONDAY! Cue dramatic music.

Go back in the water!

I just discovered this meme this morning, on a Facebook page called Dracula’s House of Halloween.  I thought I had overused the picture of Frankenstein’s Monster saying, “No like Monday!” Then again, it was often appropriate.

Oh, don’t tell me to quit whining.  And stop playing that miniature violin.  I am allowed to have a moment, or even a whole series of moments.

As a matter of fact, it was not all that heinous of a day.  I lived through it.  Only now that I am home from work, I feel quite brain dead and unable to manage even a Monstrous Monday blog post.

THERE’S the brain!

This is the picture I was looking for in a previous blog post when I was feeling similarly brain dead (perhaps you read it).  It is The Brain from the Planet Arous. On the previous post, I settled for The Brain that Wouldn’t Die. I guess I used it ironically.  So many brains, so little blog.  Ooh, that might make a good title, although “So Many Brains, None of them Mine” might be more accurate.

“What do you mean, you didn’t want to use the picture of me?”

I throw in a picture of Frankenstein’s Monster, in case he felt bad that I did not use the one of him hating on Monday.  One likes to be sensitive to monsters’ feelings. If horror movies have taught us anything, it is that things can get really ugly.

And now I see I am over 250 words.  Not bad for being brain dead.  I hope to see you all on Tired Tuesday.

Post-Rehearsal Monster?

Well, I missed making a Pre-Rehearsal Post, but I hope to come up with something before heading off to bed.  I am also hoping that by taking time to make a blog post, the fan I just put in my bedroom window will have time to cool that room off somewhat.  It seemed a little cooler outdoors than previously.  Oh, I know, I know, it could be a lot worse.  At least we have fans and electricity to run them.  I am not a complete ingrate.

Totally me. In more ways than one.

Full disclosure:  I tend to be dramatic about many things, not just the heat.  As regular readers know, theatre is my life!  We had a pretty good rehearsal earlier.  Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures.  I suppose I have not shared all I took at an earlier rehearsal.  Unfortunately, they are on my Tablet, and I am on my laptop (dining room table top, as regular readers may recall) (I always feel I have to reiterate these things, like saying I am pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus when I am on the Tablet.  I hope my readers do not find it tiresome).

I guess she told him!

There!  I got on the Tablet and found one I like.  I need to take some more rehearsal pictures.  Perhaps tomorrow, when we will be in costume.  I hope I have time to press my Rosaline dress.  It is a little wrinkly.  It is OK if my Jacquenetta outfit is a little rough; she is, after all, a base wench.

In the meantime, I am over 250 words.  I find that respectable, especially for a Monstrous Monday (since I included the Wicked Witch of the West, I think we can count this as a Monstrous Monday post).  I will just mention once again that my rehearsal was for Love’s Labour’s Lost by William Shakespeare, being presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company, Saturday and Sunday, August 13 and 14, 1 p.m., at Benton’s Landing, Little Falls as part of Little Falls Canal Celebration.  Admission is free!

Never Mind Monday; How About Monsters?

Mondays are problematic for me. Oh, who am I kidding? Every day is a problem for me.  I’M a problem for me!  However, I am sure regular readers are aware of this.  I shall get on with my Monstrous Monday Post.

Reap away, buddy!

This was a decoration at a Halloween party we attended at the Herkimer VFW last October.  He looks like he is giving a little bow.  In greeting?  Acquiescence? Acknowledgement? There is not enough evidence to draw an accurate conclusion.

I think he is just so cute!

This adorable skeleton was a present to me from my husband, Steve.  I named him Bonaparte.  The mug advertises a murder mystery we put together to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.  I need to finish writing one we plan to put on in September (preview of coming attractions).

Mine is definitely not that big.

I finish with a movie monster, The Brain from Planet Arous.  I have not come across this fellow in my media library in a while.  I like to use this picture when I am feeling particularly brain dead, as I often am these days (cue jokes about how I am mostly brain dead most of the time).

I see I have gotten to 200 words. Score! I hope to see you all again on Tired Tuesday.

I Still Feel Monstrous

Monday was a true Blogger’ Sick Day. I will spare you the sordid details, but I left work early and spent most of the rest of the afternoon and evening in bed. I do not feel a whole lot better today, but a cup of hot tea seems to be helping. I will feel better mentally if I manage to make some semblance of blog post.

I went for a shortened walk this morning. I thought the fresh air would do me good, but the humidity rendered the air heavy. It also started to rain. That was all right with me. I needed the extra time to send a couple of emails, make this blog post, and fix today’s lunch (I’m going to make things easy on myself there and bring one of those instant soup cups). The emails have been sent, and now I must think of something at least mildly entertaining to type (I am on the laptop, using all ten fingers, yes!).

Guess which one I feel like today.

Since I missed my Monstrous Monday post, I took a chance and checked my Media Library for a monster picture to share. Sunday when I was looking for pictures for a Sunday Cinema post, I seemed to be missing a number of photos I remember using before, so I was worried some monsters would be missing as well. I am delighted to find my favorite, Nosferatu.

Not exactly a monster, but pretty monstrous.

Well, now what have I done? I can’t get out of the caption mode and back into the blog!
I’m sure it must be Operator Error, the story of my life, but I cannot deal with it right now. Hell, I’m over 250 words on a late blogger’s sick day. I’m going to call it a post.

A 4th of July-ish Post

I am looking at the Snapped 4th of July Marathon on Oxygen and wishing I had some red, white and blue monsters to share, because, you know, Monstrous Monday. I have done nothing blogworthy today, although I suppose I could write about the two mile walk I took this morning. No endorphins were forthcoming.

I spent some time cleaning my house, with a few noticeable results, did a load of laundry, made a salad for the week’s lunches, fixed tomorrow’s lunch. I don’t know why I list all this, except that I find I have pathetically little to say.

A great memory.

I went to my Media Library, hoping to find a picture to pep up the post, and found this gem from July 2017. It is me and my late, greatly missed friend Phyllis, at Gerber’s 1933 Tavern in Utica, NY. I guess that makes this a Monday Memories post. Since the chairs are red and there is blue in my garment (not really sure what to call it) and Phyllis’ jeans, it is vaguely 4th of July-ish. I say it’s at least as Independence Day-y as a true crime show about women who kill.

Who, me? Have a breaking point?

I continue to watch Snapped as I write this, and even took a break to cook and eat some hot dogs. Hot dogs are 4th of July-ish.

Bonita’s boyfriend?

To end on a 4th of July monster, here is a picture I took on July 4, 2021, at Phyllis and Jim’s house. I think I have covered all the bases now: monsters, memories, 4th of July, and I am over 250 words. I say not bad for a Monday holiday post.

Two Skeletons and a Glass of Wine

Monday through Friday workers know: sometimes the best you can hope for on a Monday is to Just Get Through It. Workers of other schedules know that feeling applies on other days as well. Oh, I know, I have very little to complain about. Why should I let that stop me? It seems to not slow others down. Never mind, let’s just get on with the blog post.

A handsome couple indeed.

This is our skeleton Bonita with her friend Bonaparte. She is wearing her last summer’s outfit. We have yet to dress her in this summer’s togs (Preview of Coming Attractions), but I am sure she will look equally alluring. At least Bonaparte will look equally as admiring.

He would probably like to meet Bonita.

I took a picture of this handsome fellow last Fourth of July, when my friend Kim and I visited our good friends Phyllis and Jim. Phyllis passed away the following August, and I still feel the shock of grief when I remember she is gone.

Full Disclosure: I already drank the wine.

Having interjected that sad note into my post, I feel free to point out that sometimes, for some of us, a glass of wine is a beautiful thing. I certainly enjoyed many glasses with Phyllis.

So I guess this is my Monstrous Monday Post: a couple of skeletons and a sad note. But I also smile when I remember my friend Phyllis. That makes this a not bad Monday. Once again, I thank you for tuning in.

I Repeat Myself on Monstrous Monday

Time to make this week’s Monstrous Monday Post. I am feeling quite tired but not entirely useless. I went for a walk before work. Not a long walk nor yet a particularly brisk walk, but let us not dwell on the negatives. After work I did a load of laundry. No, I did not fold it, do I look like some kind of clean clothes maniac?

The most productive thing I did was write, type up and email an article for Mohawk Valley Living magazine. I started writing it during a break at work. Once again, I observed what I consider to be the damnedest thing: I can’t write the article, I can’t write the article, I can’t write the article, I sit down and write the article. It happens almost every month, and I can’t skip any of the “can’t write the article”s (that looks like an incorrect use of quotation marks, but it is what I mean).

This is not what I wrote.

I put in Nosferatu, because I remembered it is Monstrous Monday. I have shared this picture before, but for that matter, I have also written about can’t write the article etc.

I guess my ambition for Tired Tuesday is to find something new to say. However, since it will be a Pre-Rehearsal Post, no promises.
