Block, Blank, Blob? It’s Tired Tuesday!

Alas, I am having a Tired Tuesday. Many of my days are tired, but today it is at least alliterative. I take my happiness where I find it.

Wow, this is really bad. I just pecked in the above paragraph (one letter at a time with the stylus, feeling happy that I found my stylus again) (speaking of taking my happiness, etc.), then sat here staring at the otherwise blank screen. Earlier today, I opened my notebook (the paper, spiral-bound kind, of course), picked up my pen, and, yes, stared at the blankness.

I’ve said it before: I don’t usually get Writer’s Block, I get Writer’s Blank. I know, I know, the solution is to just write something, anything. Well, that’s what I’m doing, isn’t it? And I gotta say, I am not pleased with what I am writing. Maybe the blank was better (ooh, a little more alliteration!).

How about Writer’s Blob instead?

When in doubt, throw in a picture of a monster and hope for the best. I do feel rather blobbish when I am not writing. It is one of those vicious cycles: I don’t write because I feel blobbish, and I feel blobbish when I do not write. That being the case, I would expect to feel at least marginally less blobbish now.

But blobbish or not, I am over 200 words. I’ll try for a better blog post tomorrow.

More Bad Blogging

OK, I am having a bad blogging week, not to mention my work and personal life. Of course I will not talk about my work life, because this is not a work blog. I categorize it as a personal blog, but what I really meant was my personal experiences of businesses, attractions and events in the Mohawk Valley. Not a litany of my trials and tribulations, which I daresay are not as bad as what many people suffer.

Yesterday, I actually got through a paragraph of a post about a Mohawk Valley Adventure (it was the fun time I had at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort listening to Matt Grainger) (to give another preview of coming attractions). And my brain just wouldn’t let me do it.

I know, I KNOW the advice is Write It Anyways. Sometimes that is the way to go. Sometimes you write a few words, you write a few more, and before you know it, you are off and going. Yay! Only sometimes that doesn’t work. Sometimes you drag the words out one and two at a time, you know they are no good, and you are hating every second.

Judge me if you are so inclined, but I can only take so much of the latter situation before I give up. I might have tried again later, but it was late already, I had gone running earlier, and I fell asleep. Other writers neither let these petty excuses stop them nor offer such excuses as a blog post the next day. They are much better writers than I am.

I was about to end this post there, but I prefer to end on a more positive note, or with a monster picture. I see I am over 250 words. That is more than respectable and proves to me that I Can So Write. Next I will work on improving my content. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

He never wrote much either, so I’ve heard.

And here is a monster, justfor good measure.

Too Tired for Words

So I asked myself, what are you doing, scrolling down Facebook? I couldn’t find an answer, then I remembered I had got on the Tablet to make my blog post. Yes, it is Tired Tuesday.

I have done blog posts before saying I got nuthin’, but this time I really, truly have not a word to say. Fortunately (or unfortunately, if you don’t like this sort of thing), I tend not to let that stop me.

I just spent rather a ridiculous amount of time scrolling through my Media Library looking for a picture to brighten things up. I finally came across this shot from last June, when I purchased a bouquet from Houle Flower Farm in Little Falls, NY. I need to get some more flowers to brighten my life.

Well, so much for my boast of not letting lack of words stop me. I can’t think of another thing to say. But at least I plugged a local business. I can only hope for more words tomorrow.

Tired Tuesday But Flowers

Hello, and welcome to another Tired Tuesday Post. Perhaps you expected as much after my Late Monday Post. Ooh, I just went into a time warp and thought it was a Late Sunday Post and today was actually Monday! Glad I was wrong about that!

I actually thought about making a post titled, “All I Have To Do Is Pick A Plot,” by which some of you may guess I had a better writing day. I kind of did but do not want to jinx things by talking about it. In fact, already I’ve said too much.

My second plan was to share a few pictures I took at The Flower Barn in Ilion on Saturday. Who could be uncheered by flowers (yes, uncheered, autocorrect, not uncharted. Sheesh!)?

Could my container garden look this good?

I thought about doing more work in the yard today but opted for inside chores instead. Only I fear I did too few of those. Alas, a blogger’s work is never done!

Ooh! Pretty!

I need to do a full post about The Flower Barn. And purchase some flowers there. In the meantime, I will just mention that they are located at 1480 Barringer Rd. In Ilion, NY, and are open 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. You can Like them on Facebook. I did.

Don’t Forget My Flowers

For my Tired Tuesday post, I shall share the pictures I took after leaving the Grand Colonial Bed and Breakfast yesterday. I turned down Main Street and walked toward the post office.

I saw a classic truck I tried to take a picture of, but I was unable to zoom in. When I tried, I could only put it in Selfie Mode. Who wants to see a selfie of me! Nobody needs to see that! I took a shot of some forget-me-nots instead.

I particularly like the rocks.

I took care not to include any identifying characteristics of the house. I did not see any more photo-ops (is that a hyphenated word?) till I got home and decided to take a picture of my own forget-me-nots. They seem to be taking over my front yard, although I expect the daisies will soon give them some spirited competition.

The dandelions are not giving up either.

I went out back to get a shot of the forget-me-nots there, but they have not grown together as thickly so the picture did not turn out well. It is kind of surprising, because they have been out back since we moved in but only appeared out front in the last year or so. I took a picture of some wild violets instead.

Another favorite of mine.

These particular violets will soon be overshadowed by Black-eyed Susans. That flower has grown and spread but so far has remained in the same patch of lawn. At least, I hope I have as many as I did last year. I think the chives as well as a couple of really young trees are also fighting for a bit of that soil.

I’m wondering if I should just let these plants duke it out amongst themselves or perhaps try to instill some order in the chaos. Considering the disorder which reigns in the rest of my life, I question how effective my efforts would be. In any case, I’ll be sure to take more pictures and keep you posted. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

I’m Terrified of Missing a Blog Post

Is it ever Tired Tuesday! What the hell, me? Never mind, just make a blog post. Can I make a Monstrous Monday Post on Tuesday? Maybe call it Terrifying Tuesday? I’ll work on the title. First I’ll look for monster pictures.

It’s scary!

How about Tarantula Tuesday? I remember watching this movie, but I cannot remember much about it. I do not have any kind of phobia or squeamishness about spiders, so it would not automatically be terrifying for me. Still, a spider that big would tend to be a problem.

Who wouldn’t be terrified by a movie called The Terror with Boris Karloff? Oh well, I guess not everyone. I do like this movie (I once wrote a blog post about it). I have another poster of it in my Media Library but an too tired to search for it. I tried to make that poster bigger but am quite inept at these things. I did find a picture of Nicholson and Karloff, though.

A dramatic moment.

Oh dear, I am not up to 200 words yet. I am tired and out of T’s. Is a short blog post is better than no blog post at all? I’ll try for something better tomorrow. Then again, tomorrow is Wuss-out Wednesday. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

(Ooh, I did make it to 200 words!)

I Prefer It When People Live

I lying in bed with my Tablet hoping to muster brain enough for a Tired Tuesday Post but skeptical about my ability to do so. My Life Makeover is so far not so good. I left work with a wanging middle-age backache so did not go running. My back felt better after relaxing on the couch, but I cannot feel that knitting and watching true crime television advances me toward any of my loftier goals.

On the brighter side, we discovered a new to us show on Oxygen called Murder for Hire. I know the show has been around for a while, because I recall hmphing that they stole our name. You see, when we used to have a business doing interactive murder mysteries in the North Country, we called ourselves Murder For Hire. Ah, memories.

Anyways, the show on Oxygen is pretty good. I like the stories when they con the would-be murderer with a cop acting like a hit man and the prospective victim lives. Despite my obsession with murder and mayhem, I prefer it when people live.

I think I will use that last sentence for a title. It gives my post a kind of a Non-Sequitur feel, thus raising it above your average Tired Tuesday Post. Or do I flatter myself?

A Very Little Yard Work

I took a short (very slow) run, thinking I might make a Running Commentary Post. Then I came up with something better. In lieu of my cool-down walk (I just love that expression “in lieu of”), I mowed the front lawn with my non-power mower and pulled up a few weeds and unwanted items.

In the course of doing this, I noticed I have a Johnny Jump-up! It is only one little bloom, but I was delighted to see it. I immediately decided to take a picture, although I finished my mowing and pulling first.

I hope I get more!

Naturally I took a few more pictures.

These are tulips, which is very exciting for me, because we have not had this many previously. We usually get one and feel happy with that, because we did not plant it.

Any guesses?

I was not sure if this was a flower or a weed, so I let it live. Does anybody know what it is?

I hope they are OK!

I spent a little time pulling up green stuff surrounding my peonies. I believe I sacrificed some daisies, but I also believe we have plenty of daisies. Last year something ate my peonies before they bloomed, or somebody came and took them all away. I hope for fragrant blossoms this year.

I did not do a whole lot, but I thought it was not too bad for after a run on a Tired Tuesday. No doubt I will share more pictures as the season progresses.

Short Run, Tired Post

My plan was to go for a run so I could make a Running Commentary Post. I accomplished the first part of my plan. Can I manage the second?

My back was feeling pretty sore at work, and my attitude was not in very good shape either. I wondered about taking a walk instead, possibly with my Tablet to get more spring pictures. For one reason, it might improve my disposition. However, I opted for the run.

I put in a load of laundry, my favorite multi-task. Really my only multi-task, since most of the time I can barely task. It was a beautiful warm, sunny day. No question I could run in shorts and short sleeves. This would be great!

It was not great. My body did not want to run. I did my usual trick of telling myself I only had to keep it up for a short time. Twenty minutes, I thought. Fifteen in a pinch. One mile. At the rate I was running, I figured a mile would take me fifteen minutes.

As it happened, I did a mile in barely under 14 minutes. I continued to run till I reached 20 minutes. It never got fun, but it always feels somewhat good to persevere.

I’m afraid I have not persevered to the extent of writing a good blog post. You should hear some of the narration in my head as I go! Unfortunately I cannot remember any if it now. Of course, with that being the case, we’ll never know if it was really good narration. It could have been utter nonsense and I am flattering myself. I shall not waste any energy wondering.

In the meantime, I am over 250 words. I call that more than respectable for a Tired Tuesday Post. I hope to see you all again on Wuss-out Wednesday.

Not Just Dead Leaves!

I went for a run after work, hoping to make a Running Commentary Post. After my cool-down walk I spent a very little time cleaning some of last year’s leaves out of the front yard. Then I took a shower, fixed supper, talked to my Mom on the phone, and generally got too tired to make a blog post.

Yet here I am. But do not despair, gentle reader! This is not another whiny post about how tired I am! Instead, I exerted myself enough to go outside and take a few pictures of flowers. I do love flowers.

Obviously I did not get all the leaves.

This is the lone crocus in the front yard. However, there is more greenery, so perhaps there will be more. I went into the backyard to check on the progress of the daffodils. When I was running I saw a bunch in full bloom, so I had some hopes.

Getting there!

I figured the circuses I had seen before were over, but I was delighted to see a few more, fighting their way through the treacherous 2020 leaves.

I have great hopes for getting yard work and gardening done. Of course, I will have to spend more time at it than 10 minutes after a run. Still, one has to start somewhere. I will keep you updated on my progress. For one reason, it makes a good blog post.
