Is this Post Classic? Or Just Horror?

As I was looking through my Media Library for something for a Throwback Thursday Post, I came across this gem. I have been watching a lot of Halloween movies lately. Of course, I love Halloween movies all year long. The above picture, in case you didn’t know (and I feel so badly for you if you do not!), shows Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and Vincent Price .

Gotta get me an outfit like that.

This is a shot from Mark of the Vampire, which I watched last night. It features Lionel Barrymore, another favorite of mine and not just for horror movies.

Anybody could lose their head sometime.

I add in Peter Lorre and Vincent Price. I am following the theme of horror classics, but I seem to be a little disjointed about it. Am I disjointed enough for this to be a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post? You decide.

I can’t choose!

I need to get back to the movie watching portion of my evening. As you may have guessed, I prefer the classic flicks. Perhaps I can write more about specific movies. In the meantime, Happy Thursday, and Happy Halloween Movie Viewing!

Two Views on Wuss-out Wednesday

This is not the best picture I have ever taken, I admit. It was my view as I sat outside the End Zone Pub and Grub in Herkimer. I had an idea of also getting a picture of a vista of fall colors. “The view I was hoping for/The view I got.” I don’t know if I can find a picture of the view I wanted.

I could have had this view, minus the clouds.

The colors are not too advanced in my backyard so far. This is a picture I took a couple of weeks ago (less than a week? Days? I am in SUCH a time warp).

I have enjoyed many fall colors this year but have not taken many pictures. Well, other people take better pictures than me anyways, so I encourage you to look at those pictures if you have no resources to enjoy colors on your own

In the meantime, this is Wuss-out Wednesday. I may not be up to 200 words, but I will call it a day.

Two Walks, One Picture, Don’t Judge

In fact, I expect some people will judge me whether I give them permission or not.

I hope the picture conveys the astonishing color.

I brought my Tablet on both walks, hoping to take a few pictures for a fun post. However, before I got any photo ops on the first walk, it started to pour rain. As I am not sugar (you may have noticed), I am in no danger of melting. However, devices are notoriously averse to liquids.

On my second walk, to the post office to mail a letter, some color caught my eye. I went a few steps out of my way to take the picture.

This is rather short and insubstantial, even for a Tired Tuesday Post. But I shall let it stand and hope that tomorrow I can come up with something better than a Wuss-out Wednesday Post. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

A Little Run, A Little Plug… It’s Wrist to Forehead Sunday

I have not done much with my Sunday. Then again, when do I ever? My Sundays are notable for being unproductive. However, I hope to at least produce a blog post.

Me and a Halloween friend.

One thing I did was go for a run. I have been running at least 34 minutes every day for the past 16 days and intend to continue till I reach a total of 34 days. It is a challenge to raise awareness for the 34 million Americans with diabetes. To elucidate:

34 Days, 34 Minutes of physical activity for the 34 MILLION diagnosed with Diabetes in the USA.
Let’s bring awareness to this issue that plagues our nation.
According to the CDC, more than 34 million Americans have diabetes and of those, 90-95% have been diagnosed as type2. “You May be able to manage diabetes with healthy eating and being physically active.”

RULES:
*Once nominated, your 34 days begin the following day.
*Post a “selfie” of your post workout sweat everyday for 34 days
*please nominate a friend you think will FOLLOW THROUGH with this challenge. WE ARE COUNTING ON YOU TO HELP SPREAD THE AWARENESS.
*HAVE FUN, work on you for the next 34 days for 34 minutes!!!! BE CREATIVE!!!

The preceding two paragraphs were posted every day with a selfie by a friend who had taken the challenge. I challenged myself, because I was inspired by her example. I added the following paragraph to my posts:

Diabetes is a serious problem for many. And exercise is a good idea for everybody! I am not nominating anybody, but I am encouraging all my friends and family to challenge themselves! Even if you don’t do the full 34 minutes or days, do some exercise and make a post about it! Let’s all encourage each other to be a little healthier!

The selfie was not after today’s run. The adorable pumpkin was purchased at Casler Flower Farm, which I would like to write more about (preview of coming attractions). For now, however, I am over 300 words. I dislike to tax my readers’ patience.

L Is For Lame

For this week’s Friday Lame Post, I shall do the thing where I choose pictures from my Media Library beginning with a certain letter and make silly remarks about them. I pick the letter L.

I must return to Prospect Falls Winery soon.

Here is a Liquid well suited for Fridays. In fact, I am not drinking wine, but am taking minute sips of a dry martini. I love a dry martini, but one must be cautious when drinking what amounts to a glass of gin. But I digress.

I wonder if these are over now.

Local is one of Mohawk Valley Girl’s favorite words. This is from the farmers market in Little Falls, NY (another L!).

I must find this pair; the eyeballs are so Halloween-y!

Here are some LuLaRoe Leggings given to me by my sister Victoria. It has been cool enough for leggings lately, but I heard a hot day was forecast for tomorrow.

Pretty sexy, if you ask me.

Lost Souls makes my last L. That was an elusive letter, at least in my Media Library. But I am approaching 200 words. I may or may not make it. What do you want from me on Lame Post Friday?

Revisiting Area Skeletons

How embarrassing. I just realized I never gave a title to yesterday’s post. I could add one now, if I could think of one (not a sure thing). Only some bloggers already Liked it. Maybe they would not like it as well with a title. These are the things I worry about.

Be that as it may, I need to make today’s blog post. I thought I would try for another Throwback Thursday. This is Thursday, isn’t it? I am in a dreadful time warp these days. But what better state than a time warp to visit the past? If I find one, I’ll let you know.

This picture is from Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, taken in 2016. I’ve visited Pumpkin Junction once this year and may go again, perhaps tomorrow.

This fellow was in an antique store that has since, sadly closed. I wonder if anybody bought the skeleton while they could. I wish I had!

Here is another October shot of a local business, the White Rose Bakery in Little Falls. I love when places decorate. The White Rose has an even more elaborate display at Christmas (preview of coming attractions).

I close with one of my favorite pictures of Bonita, one of our own skeletons. A friend recently pointed out that I was reveling in my favorite time of year. I suppose it is true. I am also feeding my minor obsession with skeletons. I hope it made for a fun Throwback Thursday Post.

I think he is cool.

So there I was, watching a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie when I decided I ought to make a Mid-Week Monsters post. And while I searched for a picture of Svengoolie, I missed some important plot points on the movie was currently watching. These things happen.

It would be nice to make a post about the movies I was previously and am currently watching. Please do not judge me because I am doing no such thing. Then again, go ahead and judge me if you are so inclined.

I don’t remember him having a wife, or even a girlfriend.

While scrolling through my Media Library, I found this image. I think this movie was featured on Svengoolie one week. I could be mistaken, of course. These things happen, no doubt.

Ooh, those eyes!

Having referenced Dracula’s daughter, I append what many consider the quintessential Dracula. Who am I to disagree?

How could I choose a favorite and hurt the others’ feelings?

I wanted to include one more picture and found this one. Perhaps I would have been better served by waiting till tomorrow to make today’s post. I am not the best judge of that. Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Bonita Watched Movies, Too

I do dress Bonita for the seasons.

I purchased the devil mask at the rummage sale for Salisbury Historical Society last Saturday. I also put it on a bowling pin and a plastic cup to surprise my husband Steven as to where I put it. This is the only picture I took.

I fear I am coming down with a cold or sinus infection so decided to take it easy for the day. I can make a Sunday Cinema Post if I can find pictures of the movies we watched, which I know I have somewhere in my Media Library.

When we got to this scene in the movie, I said, “I have a picture of this in my Media Library! “

The Haunting is one of my most admired scary movies. No special effects, no gore, but yikes! It is also a pretty faithful adaptation of the book by Shirley Jackson.

The characters make this movie.

We went on to Lake Placid, much less admired by the critics but highly entertaining. But I have to say once again: having Betty White call someone a c***s***** is a cheap laugh.

Earlier today I got some decongestant from the pharmacist. I think I will take some and go to bed early. If I still feel crappy tomorrow, perhaps I can watch more Halloween flicks and have Movie Monday.

Late Post Friday

Here I am once again, typing in a post (OK, picking out one letter at a time with the stylus) early on the morning after I was supposed to make said post. Yes, they are only my rules for me, but I feel I should follow them a little better than I do. But never mind that: on with the post.

You see, it was like this…

I am still figuring out this new editor and somehow put these two vaguely related photos here. I daresay I could get rid of them easily enough, but I prefer to just go with it.

The picture on the left is Pete’s Tavern, on North Main Street in Herkimer, NY. The one on the right is Herkimer County Courthouse, further up Main at my beloved Historic Four Corners.

Next annoying thing about this new editor: I can’t see my word count as I go. How will I know when I reach my goal of 200 words? Shall I count them, as I did back in my pre-computer school days? Let us not resort to drastic measures.

This is an old shot, but one or two blooms yet remain.

This is turning into a Non-Sequitur Post, as I accidentally choose another photo and go with it. This is the Rose of Sharon from our backyard. I need to do some yard work this weekend. That might make a better blog post.

I am just going to admit here that I am fighting another bout of depression. I hesitate to say so, because my mother reads this blog and I do not want her to worry. Then, too, I can hear some people saying, “Poor pitiful you! Stop whining already!” Oh wait, that is my inner critic. But perhaps she has a point. A cup of coffee, a good run. I’ll be fine.

And I will strive to make my Saturday blog post on Saturday .

Bare Bones of a Blog Post

Crap! WordPress picked today to impose its new editor on me, and I have no idea how to share a photo. I purposely took a photo for that title! Curse you, WordPress!

One of my favorite wines.

After great effort, I find out I can add a photo I took earlier of a glass of wine I poured myself. Of particular note is the wine stopper, which I purchased yesterday at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit. I wished I had a Halloween bottle to put on it, such as Vampire Pinot Noir or Werewolf Merlot. However, I thought the scary picture of the convict was good enough.

You know, that grass looks pretty green. I SO do NOT want to mow again.

I just shared this picture yesterday but thought it fit with the Bare Bones theme of the post. Readers of yesterday’s post know it was another purchase from Pumpkin Junction.

Who doesn’t love a picture of a skeleton with a duck and Santa Claus peeking in?

I wanted to add one more skeleton picture.

OK, here is my story of today’s post. I invented the title first, meaning to share the picture I took, to show off the skull stopper and point out that, yes, I am once again drinking wine. Then I get confronted with this new editor, which I have been studiously and successfully avoiding thus far. So I have coped as best I can at the time.

The beauty part is that it is Non-Sequitur Thursday, so not making sense in fact makes sense. I will strive to make my peace with this editor. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.
