No Ambition, But a Couple of Shout-Outs

My only ambition right now is to NOT be making my Thursday blog post on Friday morning.  I can just hear one of you say, “So your ambition is to make your blog post now.”  However, that is not strictly accurate.  Let us not quibble over semantics.  Let us see what kind of a blog post I can make with this very low amount of ambition.

Give that skeleton a cup of coffee!

I threw in a picture to pep things up.  It is from October 2016, the month I started putting pictures in the blog (I have been blogging since 2011) (Wow! Has it been that long?).  It is from the So Sweet Candy Shoppe, originally called the So Sweet Candy Cafe, at 531 Varick St. in Utica, NY.  I have not been there in a while.  I must make my way to Utica one day soon (preview of coming attractions).

My favorite shirt!

Continuing the theme of throwback, and shout-out to local businesses, here is a shot from December 2016:  Original Herkimer Cheese, 2745 State Route 51 in Ilion, NY.  I bought that shirt and wear it a lot.  I need to go to the outlet soon and get some Chutter: cheese that spreads like butter.

Ooh, look, I got myself over 200 words. Score! Let’s see if tomorrow I can make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  No promises.

Yet Another Late Post About Good Music

Once you make one late post, it is so easy to make another!  Is that what they refer to as a “slippery slope” (whoever “they” is)?  Oh well, I am often late with my Wednesday posts, due to coming home lazy after a good meal and great music at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY.  Never mind, here is my almost weekly shout-out to one of my favorite places.

He is so talented!

I saw on Facebook that Mark Nanni would be performing.  He is so fun to watch, because he plays keyboard, guitar and accordion.  The other reason I wanted to go out was to order a salad, so I would have leftovers to bring for my lunch Thursday and Friday.  Lately if I eat anything but salad for lunch, I get so bloated.  Sorry, didn’t mean to over-share (even though that is what I usually do).

My husband, Steve, and I mostly wanted to hear some good local music to cheer ourselves up, and Nanni did not disappoint.  We did not get to hear him play the accordion last night, but the keyboard and guitar (sometimes both during the same song) were excellent.  We applauded loudly.

Back home, just like last week, we watched a DVR’d episode of Reasonable Doubt.  I can’t seem to live without my true crime fix.

Just to have another illustration.

Fratello’s Pizzeria is located at 158 Main St., Frankfort, NY, phone number 315-894-8484.  You can Like them on Facebook to find out what musician they will feature next.

Can You Picture Me Taking a Walk?

I was too tired yesterday to make even a Tired Tuesday post.  I did, in fact, type in one sentence:  “I am SO TIRED!!!”  I did not save it so do not know why I feel compelled to re-type it in and share it now, but that’s me for you.  I went for a walk this morning but am not sure it will make a good Pedestrian Post, due to my inability to take good pictures.  However, I shall try.

I turned on the dining room light to put on my sneakers and left it on, because I was wondering how well our ghoul, Elliott Ghoul, looked from the street.  Elliott Ghoul is one of the Halloween decorations we keep up year round.  I like to keep his sound on too, but Steven turned it off, because Elliott kept waking him up when he takes a nap on the couch.  Outside, I observed that Elliott does show to passersby, although he can be blocked by Frankentree.

He looks even more spooky when he’s all blurry!

I tried to take a picture from the sidewalk.  First I zoomed in, which I can sometimes do.  Other times, I think I am zooming but instead I change it to selfie mode.  I hate it when that happens!

You can see one of Frankentree’s branches on the left.

I zoomed back out to show part of the porch, then started on my walk.  I usually walk the same way in the morning:  to the spring on Lou Amber Drive.  It is good for me, because I carry a bottle of water and drink it while I walk to the spring, then I re-fill it and continue to sip. It makes for more hydration than I usually get first thing in the morning.

The only exciting thing that happened on this morning’s walk was when I encountered a skunk on Church Street, as I headed home with my spring water.  Yikes!  I was luckily a couple of houses away when I saw what was clearly NOT a cat or bunny.  I quickly crossed the street then wondered if I dared keep walking in that direction, which was still toward the animal.  I took a few hesitant steps.  He (or she) turned and walked up a lawn towards a house.  Phew!  I did not take a picture.

However, on a walk last month, I took a picture of the full moon that I will now share.  It was not a fully successful picture, which is one reason I have not shared it thus far.  I had a thought of using it in a Pedestrian Post with the title, “No Moon Shot,”  but I could not get my act together to the extent of writing said post (what a surprise: me not have my act together!  Say it ain’t so!).

I guess it isn’t so bad. Or do I flatter myself?

Pedestrian Posts with Pictures are clearly more successful when I take my walks in full daylight.  I will attempt another of those in the future. For now the important thing is, I have made a blog post.  At least, it is important to me.  Once again, thank you for tuning in.

In My Defense, Music!

This is a late Wuss-out Wednesday Post. In my defense, we went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY for food and music, one of our favorite things to do.  In my accusation (I never did figure out a good word for the opposite of “defense” in these situations), when we came home we watched a DVR’d episode of Reasonable Doubt, another of my favorite things.

I have other pictures to share, but this popped up when I hit “Add Media.”

Steven got a Shrimp Basket while I had a Chicken Wing Wrap, only with grilled instead of fried chicken. Yum!  Steven did not recognize the musician and asked his name.  The bartender said, “Jonathan.”  I remembered seeing him before and later looked him up in one of my adventure books (that is my fancy name for blank books or notebooks I carry around with me to make notes), Jonathan Minter.

Very talented guy.

I was not familiar with most of the tunes he played, but I sure dug the acoustic guitar.  We were also delighted when my niece Kimi and her boyfriend, Matt, showed up.  Fratello’s gets the best clientele!

Cute couple!

Back home, we paused in our true crime viewing to admire a rainbow.  I took a picture which does not do it justice.

I pointed it out to a couple of passersby. I feel the need to share beauty.

It was altogether a very enjoyable evening, with the result that I overslept this morning. A small price to pay.

Lame Me Think a Minute

Does it count as a late post when you go to bed but wake up around 1 a.m., can’t sleep, and say, “Oh hell, I’ll make my blog post.”?  One could argue both sides, but I don’t suppose it matters.  Full disclosure:  I also can’t think of anything to say in a blog post.  Then again, this is my Lame Post Friday post.  Let’s see what I can come up with.

Here’s a weird thing.  As I typed in “come up  with”  my head was thinking “put up with.”  I am one finger pecking on my Tablet (I misplaced the stylus), and I seem to be doing it even more slowly than usual.  Hence, as I think the words and type them, my brain has plenty of time to come up with alternative phrasings, appropriate or not.

I just realized, this is kind of an improvement.  In many of my recent blog posts, I have been whining about being brain dead.  Now my brain is… oh this is funny.  As I was debating whether my brain was “kind of working” or “marginally functioning” or perhaps merely “coming up with things,”  my predictive text thingy suggested “not responding”.

“You called?”

Just thought I would throw in The Brain from the Planet Arous, since we were talking about brains.  Illustrations do pep up a post, don’t they?

And I see I am over 200 lame words.  Score! I wonder if I could sleep now.  My body says, “No promises.”

At Least I Voted

Once again, my blog is degenerating into late post after late post, whining about how tired I am.  But, hey, when I make a late post, I often do it on the laptop (dining room table top, as regular readers may recall), and I am reminded how much fun ten-fingered typing is.  I must purchase a new laptop.  That might be worth a blog post.

Be all that as it may, I was indeed too tired to make a post yesterday, and I was too tired to go for a walk this morning.  If  I was being less kind to myself, I could substitute lazy for tired, so you may may what judgements you like.  I got home from work tired but had things I needed to do.  Of course I did not do all of them, but I showered (an absolute necessity, given my job and the summer weather) and did a load of laundry (also a necessity if I did not want to wear dirty pants to work) (they are just going to get dirty again, but you’ll have that). Then my husband, Steve, and I headed to Basloe Library in Herkimer, NY to vote.

I am not really adept with my cell phone.

After we voted, I took an ussie, specifically for blogging purposes.  I was truly sorry to leave the library without pausing to look for a book or two, but we were hungry.  Accordingly, we went to Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant.  Steven got a bacon cheeseburger while I, tempted by the special, got a calzone with three toppings.  I picked meatballs, mushrooms, and black olives.  The reason I went for the meatballs was that I knew we would have a large amount leftover and Steven likes meat on pizza and such-like (isn’t a calzone just a folded-up pizza?).

Back home, all I wanted to do was sit on the couch and watch an episode of Dateline (love that Keith Morrison).  At least I crocheted while I watched, so it was not completely unproductive.  I really must up my crochet game and make more things than afghans, but that is for another day.

In the meantime, I see I am over 300 words.  I call that more than respectable for a late Tired Tuesday post.  Later on, I will strive not to Wuss Out on Wednesday, but as usual, no promises.  And just as an aside, why did I not dub it Wimp-out Wednesday?  Any thoughts?

(Ooh, 400 words! Score!)

The Blog That Wouldn’t Die?

Late posts, I just can’t seem to avoid them.  No discipline. No work ethic.  And very little brain.

My brain, unfortunately, would and apparently did.

This is not the image I just spent an embarrassingly long time searching my Media Library for (and I will end a sentence with a preposition if I want to).  I wanted The Brain from the Planet Arous.  I could so get into watching some cheesy horror movies today.  Then I could do a Sunday Cinema Post.

As for Saturday,  it was a lost cause.  I got my run in, I did a load of laundry (oh crap I just remembered I was going to do another one this morning), I spent a small amount of time chipping away at the vast mess I call home, I got together with my friend Kim for a little while.  I did not make it to the Mohawk American Legion to hear The Posers, as I had mentioned in my Lame Post Friday post (which regular readers may remember that I made on Saturday morning).  I did manage to have a pleasant evening with my husband, Steve.  So perhaps the day was not a total loss.

However, I fear my Saturday blog post is.  No matter.  I can only go on from here.  I will once again try for a better blog post next time.  And as always, thank you for tuning in.

Murder? Music? It’s a Friday Lame Post!

How do I not manage to make a Lame Post Friday post on Friday?  It’s a lame post,  how hard could it be?  Oh well, I was having a nice evening, sipping Barefoot Pinot Noir and watching true crime on cable television.  Yes, I am too lame to stream.  So twentieth century of me!

They are bad-ass and compassionate.

Part of the evening was spent looking at my new favorite thing, Reasonable Doubt on ID on DVR (I am at least technologically adept for that).  Actually, it was my new favorite thing some months ago, but I have not had a new favorite thing in a while.  I need some new favorite things in my life.

Speaking of favorite things,  my husband, Steve, and I may be heading to the Mohawk, NY American Legion tonight to hear The Posers, our favorite local band (preview of coming attractions).  I heard too late last night that another good local band, the Playin’ Again Trio, was at Fratello’ Pizzeria in Frankfort.  Then again, we had such a pleasant evening at home, I do not regret it too much.  We missed hearing another favorite,  Phil Arcuri, on Wednesday, because Steven was not feeling well.  And that is my local music plug for the post.

So I guess this is my Lame Post Friday post, made on Saturday morning,  but who’s counting?  Oh, YOU probably are (you know who you are).  As always, thank you for tuning in.

Post Performance Post with Pics

I am not surprised I missed making my Saturday blog post on Saturday.  When I hadn’t gotten to it before I left for the play, I knew I was unlikely to get to it afterwards.

The play, of course, is Love’s Labour’s Lost, presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company as part of Canal Celebration (perhaps you have read a few of my blog posts about it).  It was a lot of fun.

I received a few pictures in my email, which I will now share.

A royal couple.
The princess and her courtier.
And with one of her ladies.
Frenemies. I’m the one in the cap.
The girls plotting against the guys.
They are both in disguise.
Curtain call without the curtain.

We have one more performance, today, Sunday Aug. 14, 1 p.m., at Benton’s Landing in Little Falls, NY. Admission is free. If you’re in the area, come on down!

Thursday? Friday? Hey, It’s a Post

I have been so good about making my blog post on the day indicated.  I have at worst resorted to a Post-Rehearsal Post.  But here I sit Thursday evening, wondering exactly how bad it would be to make my Non-Sequitur Thursday post on Friday  morning.  Oh, I understand it would be bad.  But would it be terrible? Would it be catastrophic?

Obviously it would not.  I have done it many times.  But it is not my favorite thing to do. I can only say it is better than not posting at all.  Which I have done.

Where was I?  Ah yes,  trying to make at least a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post.

Regal, yes?

I quickly throw in a picture from 2017, to make for a Throwback Thursday Post.  Oh yeah, it is also All Love’s Labour’s Lost All The Time,  because this is a shot from a previous offering from LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company. The actor is in this year’s offering, but he does not wear this costume.

Now it is Friday morning and I am sipping coffee and trying to finish this post despite the headache that came to me during the night.  Yes, I just had to throw in that little whine.  Judge me if you are so inclined.

However, that useless little paragraph got me over 200 words.  I say that is OK for a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post.  I’ll just throw in one more picture of Love’s Labour’s Lost, because, you know, All The Time.

Similar to the last one I shared, but a little different.

Once again, Love’s Labour’s Lost by William Shakespeare will be presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company Saturday and Sunday August 13 and 14 at 1 p.m.  at Benton’s Landing in Little Falls, NY, part of Little Falls Canal Celebration. Admission is free.
