By the Way, Happy Easter

Late posts on the weekend.  It’s a thing.  Anyways, here I sit early Sunday morning, lounged on the couch, pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet.  I have pecked in that sentence many times, according to the predictive text thingy, but it is the case so I make bold to repeat it.

My favorites are the two-tone ones.

I thought instead of an actual post, I would share the rest of the pictures I took with my phone the other day.  I saved all the pictures on my phone to my blog before returning the phone and cancelling my cell service (long story, and I don’t look so good in it).

But the deep purple is pretty, too.

This one looks a little wilted.

There weren’t any yellow ones, of which I usually get one or two.  Also, the ones in the front yard haven’t gotten beyond a few pretty green shoots.  Further updates as events warrant.

I didn’t plant these.

I also saw some white flowers over by the fence. I don’t know how they got there, but I was happy to see them.  There is only a parking lot on the other side of the fence, so it is unlikely the neighbors planted them.

I admit, not the best picture.

I guess these flower pictures are appropriate, being as it is Easter Sunday.

And then there’s this.

I end with a preview of coming attractions.  I am hard at work on the next murder mystery.  I hope to make a post about rehearsals next week.  I hope you’ll stay tuned.

I Swoon Over Columbo

I have been obsessively watching episodes of Columbo on DVD.  I may have mentioned that my parents gave me a boxed set of the entire series for Christmas.   The episode I am watching right now features George Wendt.  Imagine Norm from Cheers as a murderer!  That did not need a Spoiler Alert; that was the gimmick on Columbo:  you saw the murder and the suspense came in how Columbo was going to prove it.

He did not want to answer “One more thing.”

I started another episode just now but may go to bed before it is over.  It may be clear by now that I do not have a whole lot to say.  I guess that is normal for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post.

What a bad Monday I would have if I did that!

Having Monday tomorrow isn’t really so bad.  My job is not heinous.  Naturally I would prefer to be independently wealthy and not have to work, but as is often observed, one cannot have everything.

One of the all time greatest fictional detectives.

Full disclosure:  I had a Mohawk Valley Adventure today.  I hope to write about it in the near future.  In the meantime, I hope this will do for today’s post.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

Bonita was also having a Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

Oh Well! It’s a Post!

It seems that I am in a time warp.  I logged on to WordPress thinking “Throwback Thursday.  I’ll make a Throwback Thursday Post.”  It was not until I looked at my previous posts for the week that I remembered:  it’s Wednesday!  What the hell, me?  Earlier today I knew it was Wednesday.  Furthermore,  I am well aware that tomorrow is NOT Friday.  Sometimes I wonder about myself.

At least it isn’t Tuesday. Or is it?

All is not lost, I tell myself (although why I should listen to myself when I am clearly an unreliable source I do not know):  I can have a Way Back Wednesday Post (should Way Back be one or two words?).

Cheers!

Going back a few years to December 2019, here is my sweet husband, Steven, at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY.  That is Phil Arcuri in the background.  I would have liked to go to Fratello’s tonight, but I called and found out there was no music.  I know, I could have gone anyways for the food, but I decided against it.

Why not another picture of Steve?

I had to look through some previous posts to rememberwhere this picture was taken.  It is Beer Belly Bob’s in Ilion,  where Red Shed Brewery of Cooperstown and Cherry Valley was doing a tasting.  I recently saw their tap room in Cherry Valley and said, “Ooh, I have to go there!”   This could be a sign I should do it soon (preview of coming attractions).

Now my post is in a time warp.  Way Back or Coming Attractions?  Oh well, it’s a post.

I Indulge in More Memories

I want to do a Throwback Thursday Post.  I know I have been heavy on the memories lately, but once again, I crave my readers’ indulgence.

I personally have never worn that hat.

Yes, I am sharing more memories of my husband, Steve.  Here he is wearing one of my rummage sale finds on Kentucky Derby day.  I think he is cute.

With a friend.

Here is Steve at the Waterfront Grille in Herkimer, NY with our friend Tracy.  We were having a delightful time, as I recall.

Cheers, my love!

This was at the Ommengang Brewery in Cooperstown.  We always meant to go back but were rarely in the mood to drive that far.

With some fish.

This was at Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant in Herkimer.  Hmmm… that broiled haddock looks good.  My sister Cheryl and her girls were thinking of going to a fish fry tomorrow.  Perhaps I should join them (preview of coming attractions).

I fear I have not gotten to 200 words (my rule for me about the respectable length of a blog post).  Well, sometimes we all fall short of the ideal (yes, even you) (you know who you are).  At least this post is on time, and I can always try for a better blog post tomorrow.

Ha ha, that got me over 200 words!

Monsters or Memories?

I am having a difficult time getting myself to do anything.  However, I persevere in trying.  I paid a few bills today, worked on organizing papers, took a couple walks, and drove to Cherry Valley, NY, in search of something to write about for Mohawk Valley Living magazine (preview of coming attractions).  But it doesn’t feel like I got a whole lot accomplished, and I spent a good deal of time feeling unmoored. Never mind that last sentence, let me get on with attempting some semblance of a blog post.

“I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!”

This is how I feel, only not so skinny.  I have put on a few pounds recently.  I have not been running or walking.  In addition to having a nagging cold, I fell down my front steps and hurt my back.  The back is feeling a little better, though, so I may ignore my cough and try a run tomorrow.

This was a great evening.

I move from monsters and moaning to memories with a shot of my recently dedeparted husband, Steve, on Richfield Springs Scenic Railway.  I would like to go on that again.

Isn’t he cute?

Here is a monstrous memory:  Steven in costume at the Halloween Party at Herkimer VFW in October 2021.

So this is my Monday blog post: a couple monsters, a couple memories, and a little moaning about my ills. As always, thank you for tuning in.

Once Again, I Indulge in Lame Post Friday

Here is something different:  I am making my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  At least, I hope so.  I am feeling fairly wordless and brainless, even for a Lame Post Friday.  I guess some would argue that I am almost always brainless (you know who you are), but am I ever wordless? I think not.

I take a deep breath to try.

Can I manage a howl this Friday?  Better not.  It might scare the neighbors.

I did a couple of Friday-ish things earlier.  I went to a wine tasting at Valley Wine and Liquor in Herkimer, NY, and to Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, also in Herkimer, for dinner.  I hope to write blog posts about those in the near future.  So I guess I can consider this post a Preview of Coming Attractions.

I’ll have a fabulous glass of wine, please.

Since I am indulging in a glass of wine, which many find appropriate on a Friday,  I searched my Media Library for a picture of same.  This is the glass presented to me by the cast of Leading Ladies,  the play I directed at Ilion Little Theatre.  All those corks do not represent tonight’s indulgence, by the way.

I see I am over 200 words without having said very much.  On the brighter side, I feel I have refrained from whining.  Oh dear, did that just ruin it?  Never mind, me, just have a little more wine.

I Also Have To Write Something

So posting daily did not last very long.  I picked up my Tablet to make a post yesterday but felt too blank and sad.  I thought if I gave it a try this morning (Monday) I might meet with success.

Hmmm… So far, not much.

Isn’t this awesome?

I came across this in my Facebook On This Day.  I find it inspiring.  However, as we all know, inspiration is not enough.  You also have to write something.  I have a few projects in various stages of development:  a new novel and a couple of mysteries, one not involving murder.  I’ll share more about that one later (preview of coming attractions).

For right now, I am up to 100 words, halfway to my self-imposed minimum for a blog post, and I fear I have neither informed nor entertained.  What can I do about that?

What am I doing, emphasizing that this post is late?

I peeped into my Media Library and found this.  My Monday obligations are looming in my peripheral vision, urging me to finish this post and get on with the day.  Am I in fact clinging to Sunday by making my Wrist to Forehead Sunday post?  I think not, but perhaps I flatter myself.

In any case, I have achieved 200 words of this nonsense.  I hope you will all tune in later for my Monstrous Monday Post.

Not a Lame Walk, But Maybe Lame Photography

I thought I would try for the Pedestrian Post I missed earlier this week, in lieu of my usual Lame Post Friday post.  Accordingly,  I armed myself with my smarter-than-me phone and set out shortly after supper.  I have done several of these picture walk posts in Herkimer, NY, and knew my adopted hometown would not disappoint.

My first photo op was the Grand Colonial Bed and Breakfast at 122 West German Street.  Unfortunately I was across the street and did not get a good shot.  So Herkimer did not disappoint,  but my camera did.  Most likely it was operator error as usual.

This is from my Media Library. I’ll try to get a full view later.

Continuing with my walk, I crossed Main Street and started down the lovely walkway over what used to be a hydraulic canal.  It is a wonderful re-purposed space, which, alas, I also did not get a good picture of.

Also from the Media Library and not the view I wanted.

I took a turn halfway down the path and walked down a sidewalk with few photo ops.  It was then I remembered I had been going to go to Mohawk Community Market on Main Street for the Grand opening on their newly renovated downstairs.  Well, it will still be renovated in days to come.  I’ll get there soon (preview of coming attractions).

Continuing my walk, I noticed the signs on the parking lot to the county office buildings.  Regular readers know that I can rarely resist entering where it says not to.

Oh, sure, THIS picture comes out!

I went out the entrance and the wrong way down Mary Street but did not take pictures of those signs.  Then I was on Main Street, heading towards my beloved Herkimer Historic Four Corners.

You can only really see two of the corners.

I tried, once again unsuccessfully, to get a picture of Suiter House.  By now I am too lazy to search my Media Library for one of those.

I had better luck with the 1834 Jail.

I could not resist a shot of the graveyard at Herkimer Reformed Church.

It was a very enjoyable walk.  I may take another one soon, if for no other reason than to get pictures of the things I missed.

How About a Thursday Theatre Post?

OK, so my Thursday post is late too. Judge me if you are so inclined. I had rehearsal last night and, oh, other things. As I said yesterday (and other times), explanations are tiresome. Speaking of yesterday, for anybody who read that post (Wednesday’s, again, judge me if you must) and was wondering: I looked for those flowers on this morning’s walk. The flowers are still there, only of course I could not appreciate the purple color in the dark.

Never mind all that, on with my Throwback Thursday Post, with a little bit of Non-Sequitur Thursday thrown in, because, I like non-sequiturs. Some may point out that many of my so-called non-sequiturs are not truly so, but I have no inclination of semantic arguments this morning.

A wide view.

This is from the 2017 production of The Tempest by William Shakespeare, presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company. The setting is Benton’s Landing, near the canal in Little Falls, NY. That will be the setting for Love’s Labour’s Lost, our current production, and it is where we were rehearsing last night.

A noble stance.

This gentleman was the King in The Tempest. I believe he plans more comic garb for his part in Love’s Labour’s Lost.

World’s most interesting Shakespeare guy?

The is one of my favorite pictures. The actor has longer hair now, but I think he is hoping to wear the same pants.

They were a fun pair, although they wanted to kill me. Long story.

Only the actor on the right is joining us for Love’s Labour’ Lost, and I believe she will be dressed quite differently.

I guess my Throwback Thursday turned into more of a Preview of Coming Attractions with very little of the Non-Sequitur about it. You’ll have that, especially in my blog. However I have reached 300 words, and I rather enjoyed this post. Let’s see if I can be on time for Lame Post Friday. As always, no promises, and thank you for tuning in.

Anyways, Happy Easter

I have been very bad about posting on the weekends (OK, posting at all, but especially on the weekends), so I thought I would take a slight break from looking at a DVR’d episode of Columbo and make a short Easter Sunday Post.

You had me at Vincent Price.

I keep noticing this picture in my Media Library and luckily remembered it for today. I don’t really have much to say beyond Happy Easter, but when I can add a picture of Vincent Price, it certainly seems worthwhile to do so.

I loves me some Peter Falk, too.

Since I mentioned Columbo earlier, I add a picture of him, too. My husband, Steve and I have not done much to mark the holiday, except for munching a few chocolate bunnies I picked up earlier this week. That is OK with me.

I need a rubber chicken in my life.

Before Columbo, we watched a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. Regular readers know how much I love Svengoolie, and the old horror movies he shows.

I guess I can bill this as a Cinema Sunday, with Vincent Price thrown in. For anyone who did not know, the picture shows Price as Egghead on the old Batman TV show. That show got some really great actors to play villains. I should look for more pictures and do a whole blog post about it, perhaps on a future Monstrous Monday. Once I upgrade the blog and can add new pictures (preview of coming attractions).

In the meantime, Happy Easter to all who celebrate, and Happy Sunday to all. Once again, thank you for tuning in.
