Alas, Another Tired Tuesday Post

Oh dear.  I am as dreadfully overheated as I was yesterday, and I only feel up to a Tired Tuesday blog post.  I don’t have much to blog about anyways; I have done very little with my Tuesday. There was a moment as I was driving towards the grocery store when I felt an impulse to drive someplace more interesting, Little Falls Food Co-op, for example, but I couldn’t quite think what I might buy there.  I had rehearsal for Four Old Broads on the High Seas, but I need to sort through some pictures before I make another post about that (preview of coming attractions).

The Brain I Don’t Have.

I quick threw in a picture to pep things up.  This, of course, is The Brain from Planet Arous.  Looking through my Media Library distracted me from continuing the list of things I was NOT going to make a blog post about.  I once had a college professor get all mad at me because I spent a lot of a paper saying what I wasn’t going to get into about the topic at hand.  I don’t know what he wanted in a two page paper.  Anyways, he still gave me an A.  No wonder I got an exaggerated notion of myself as a writer.

For the record, I no longer have that exaggerated notion.  I am a writer who does not write enough. I keep hoping to change that.  I’ll let you know if I ever succeed.

Tequila Blog Post

Technically, one is not supposed to plan to have a Non-Sequitur Thursday post.  One begins typing and ends up with one.  One being me, of course. I do not know of any other bloggers who have Non-Sequitur Thursday posts.  I made it up myself, but there are other things I made up that other people have thought of too.  For example, Tequila Mockingbird.  For a long time I tried to come up with a cocktail called a Tequila Mockingbird.  I wanted it to be dark in color and include tequila.  Finally I settled on black coffee and tequila.  I found it quite tasty.

Flash forward to 2025 and I am in a play called Four Old Broads on the High Seas at Players of Utica.  One of the characters is a drag performer whose lady name is Miss Tequila Mockingbird.  It is a great character, and the actor doing the part is having a great deal of fun with it.

Must get an un-blurry photo of Miss Tequila Mockingbird.

I actually have other pictures of Miss Tequila Mockingbird, but they are in  a smart phone I forgot to charge, and it takes a long time to get charged enough to use.  We’ll call it a preview of coming attractions.

Well that makes another shout-out to the play I am in at least.  Performance dates are July 25, 26, and 27 at 1108 State St., Utica, NY.  For more information call 315-724-7624.

It Was a Melting Migraine

I thought I might have a real Wuss-out Wednesday post or maybe a Blogger’s Sick Day, as I spent the day with something of a migraine.  I hasten to add that my migraines are not as bad as what some people suffer, and I appreciate that.  I even made it through rehearsal tonight for the play I haven’t told you about yet (preview of coming attractions).  Now I am at home, still waiting for it to feel cooler inside (it was almost comfortable on my front porch, but I can hardly sleep out there), and wondering if I can get away with a Mid-Week Monsters post (here’s a Freudian typo:  I said Mid-Weed Monsters, as if I paused to make a blog post in the midst of doing lawn and garden work.  Wouldn’t that be ambitious of me?).

I know just how she feels.

Here’s the picture I was looking for yesterday!  It is appropriate on so many levels.  I am complaining about the heat, a wicked witch is a monster, and many people feel that I myself am a witch (they sometimes spell it with a b).

This may be true of a lot of us.

This speaks to my good intentions of doing a better blog post today than yesterday.  Once again I move that ambition on to tomorrow.  On the brighter side, at least I have posted for another day.  Once again, I thank you for tuning in.

It Is Summer, Isn’t It?

I went for a run this morning, going as soon as I got out of bed in hopes of beating the heat and humidity.  I was successful, eventually running two miles in hopes of making a Two-Mile Tuesday blog post.  In that I was less than successful, as I sit here late (for me) Tuesday night and no blog post done yet.

In my defense, I was writing an article for Sentinel Media then trying to learn my lines for a play I am in (Preview of Coming Attractions).  I managed to go to the grocery store, where once again  I did not purchase enough food. On the brighter side, I refrained from purchasing cookies or ice cream (believe me,  I was tempted!), making my weight loss goals slightly more attainable.

She’s set to enjoy the summer heat!

I was looking for a picture of the Wicked Witch of the West saying, “I’m ME-E-ELTING!” but decided to share a more cheerful shot instead.  This is my skeleton Bonita with her friend Bonaparte.  My late, dearly missed husband, Steven, had dressed her for summer.  He purposely let the tag show on the headband, going for a Minnie Pearl kind of thing (look it up or ask somebody old if you don’t know).

I guess this is shaping up to be a Tired Tuesday post.  I shall blame it on the heat and humidity, and as always, try for a better post tomorrow.

Some Semblance of a Post on Slacker Saturday

My blogging woes continue as I missed making my Lame Post Friday post yesterday.  It is early(ish) Saturday morning and I thought I could type some semblance of a post before trying to get on with my day (as Truman Capote famously said, “That’s not writing, that’s typing”).

Is this cool or what?

I thought I would use the pictures I added to my Media Library a few days ago.  I saw this lovely dragon fly towards the end of a walk and paused to take a picture.  I don’t really know from dragon flies; I guess there are different kinds.  Perhaps I should research the matter and report back.

Preview of Coming Attractions?

I have been interested to see these signs on some of the (sadly) empty buildings downtown.  BOA stands for Brownfield Opportunity Area.  The signs are put up by the Herkimer Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), which has been awarded grant money and has big plans.  This is another subject I should research and report back on.

More Pub than Grub these days.

I have talked about this place before, The End Zone, one of the businesses keeping Main Street from being a ghost town.  There are others, but I have not taken pictures of them recently.  I think I will do that on a future walk, just to give a shout-out to those businesses (preview of coming attractions).  Unfortunately, today it is raining.

I see I am over 200 words and have no excuse for not getting on with my Saturday.  Well, I guess I still have to eat breakfast.  In any case, I thank you for tuning in and will try for a better blog post tomorrow.

A Mundane Monday Post

I was so certain I would make a real blog post yesterday (Sunday) that it really comes as no surprise to me that I did not.

Does putting ice in a headache really work?

The picture is to denote passage of time.  I have a cut on my thumb which was causing pain every time I hit the space bar so went in search of a band-aid.  While looking I found that I had one more decongestant with a D (the kind you have to ask the pharmacist for) so took that against this morning’s headache.  That reminded me I had not yet taken my usual morning pills, so I did that.  Finally I found a band-aid (two in fact, so I have a spare) as well as some antibiotic ointment.   I add all this information in hopes of distracting us from the fact that I really ain’t got much this morning but hate to miss two days of making a blog post.

Preview of Coming Attractions?

I intend to go for a run this morning, after I give my breakfast a chance to digest.  I have not been running since last Thursday, although I have taken a few walks.  I shall not demand a long run of myself, and I never demand a fast run.  Maybe a couple of hills, maybe not.  Maybe it will be memorable enough for a Running Commentary Post.

In the meantime, this nonsense has gotten me over 200 words, so I will call it a post and wait for the decongestant to do its work.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

Lawnmowers and Lame Hopes

One of the quintessential sounds of summer is the sound of a lawnmower.  Personally I could live without it.  It is too loud for me.  That is my random observation for the morning.  I am sitting at my sister Diane’s house, listening to a neighbor being ambitious (mowing the lawn prior to 9 a.m.?  Isn’t there some rule of etiquette about that?), and trying to make a Lame Post Friday blog post.  Quite frankly, I don’t got much, except for a little bit of a headache.

Could it be a preview of coming attractions?

I throw in a picture to pep things up.  This is from May 2017, a “before” shot of my container garden, which I used to have in those days.  I am hoping to have a container garden this year, but this is not the weekend it will happen.  This weekend is about cleaning the inside of my house.  I hope.

This may also be a coming attraction.

Here is a picture from May 2021 at Diane’s house.  It shows me, Diane, our mother, and our sister Vicki.  I am wearing a tie-dye shirt and pearls again today, but different shirt and pearls (my late, beloved husband Steven and I between us wore out that shirt, and I have many pearls) (although I do not clutch them) (but I digress).

Diane and I will be returning to Herkimer this morning, where she will help me in my quest to get rid of things and clean my house.  I am afraid, however, I may be distracted with taking her to some of my favorite places to go for Mohawk Valley Adventures.  I will rationalize such behavior on the grounds that it will make for better blog posts.

More Murder on the Menu

Here are a few of the “action” shots I took during the mingling portion of Recipe for Murder Royale at Salisbury Grange Sunday afternoon.  We are to present the show again this Saturday, May 3, at Herkimer Elks Lodge to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society, so this is also in the nature of a Preview of Coming Attractions.

I was supposed to be walking around mingling with the crowd myself, but since my character was an organizer of the event, I thought it was natural for me to take a couple of pictures.

These two are married in real life.

Our French chef and our backwoods boy were both popular characters. I thought it was delightful that BillyBob Bodine wore a bow-tie for the occasion.

It was a spontaneous smile.

In another in-character move, I asked my assistant to place the ballots on the tables.  This was where people would write their guesses as to who the murderer was.  Of course, I didn’t know there was going to be a murder (wink, wink), so I said Albert Graves (unaccountably absent) had said to put out the papers; I didn’t know why.

I dare share it again!

The last I knew tickets were still available, in case any of my local readers is interested.  I personally am looking forward to the dinner.  Italian Chicken Soup made with real Italians, who could resist?

A Few More Pics, Another Pedestrian Post

I continue writing about my walk, because I have four more pictures I did not use yet.  I particularly wanted to open with the funniest one.

The little picnic table wins my heart.

Considering I AM the nut, I felt I had cause to worry, so I took the picture and moved on.  I suppose it would take a pretty big squirrel to crack me, but you never know.  They might decide to gang up on me.

I am always happy to see them, although I cannot address them by name.

I see these flowers everywhere but do not know what they are.  If anybody does, I would be grateful for the knowledge.  I think there are apps whereby you can take a picture and your phone tells you what things are, but I rarely download apps.  I might possibly get a book out of the library on the subject.

Not quite the shot I had hoped.

I took this shot on the footbridge over the stream behind the high school (so you see I am using the photos out of the order that I took them, if you read yesterday’s post).  I had wanted a shot of the water but soon became more concerned with the green on the branches.  It is a little difficult, because I have to contend with the chain link fence. I suppose other people handle these problems easily (you know who you are).

It’s hard to see the color.

One more tree caught my eye.  I took a picture from each side, and this one turned out the best.  I guess neither one is all that great, but you’ll have that.

I really did enjoy my walk.  I ran yesterday, which I also enjoyed, but I think I will take another walk today.  Will this blog become All Pedestrian Posts All The Time?  Probably not.  For one reason, rehearsals continue for Recipe for Murder Royale.  I have one tonight.  I may take some pictures and do a Post-Rehearsal Post (preview of coming attractions).  Won’t that be fun?

In Haste and In Need of a Second Wind

Oh dear, this is terrible.  I have about 45 minutes before I have to leave for the theatre and I am SO TIRED!!!  Never mind why; explanations are tiresome.  For anybody just tuning in, the theatre is Ilion Little Theatre for the play I am in, Prescription: Murder.  Everybody tells me I am doing a splendid job (although I don’t think anyone has actually used the word “splendid”), and I have no reason to believe they are insincere.

Me in the play, before I am dead.

I do not have any new pictures of the play to share, unfortunately, so I share this one again.  What a hair-do!  I tried to preserve it overnight by wrapping a scarf around my head and trying not to toss and turn too much.  I had little success, then the mop got rained on this afternoon.  It was, as they say, a good day for ducks.  It was actually a good day to stay home, but I did not, alas.

Columbo plays his game of cat and mouse.

It may be obvious by now that I got nuthin’.  Yes, I am brain dead but most somehow catch a second wind by 7:30 when the curtain opens.  I will try to take some more backstage pictures for your entertainment tomorrow, on Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  Then I must navigate my way through Post-Play Letdown while putting together the murder mystery Recipe for Murder Royale (preview of coming attractions).  As always, I hope you will stay tuned.
