When In Doubt, Add Coffee

And now my headache is back.  I begin my Lame Post Friday Post with a whine.  It is too early yet for wine, which might help my headache but could also cause a worse one tomorrow.  Ah, the trials and tribulations.

Random picture to denote passage of time while I go put on coffee.

I had tea instead of coffee earlier this morning, which is usually fine.  I had a headache, which got worse after I ate breakfast and took some Migraine Relief (with the magic ingredient caffeine, as a boss of mine used to say).  After lying down for a while, my head felt better, so I went for a run.  I did not run yesterday due to a back ache (YES all I do at my age is feel pain in various parts of my body.  Either you know what I am talking about or you eventually will).

Where was I going with this?    What a dull, boring post!

The inspirational bumble bee.

I looked for a more exciting picture to pep up the post and found this from The Mustard Seed in Little Falls, NY, thus adding a shout-out to a local business.  The bumble bee is part of their logo, because of the story that aerodynamically speaking, the bumble bee should not be able to fly, but somehow does.  Thus, the owner of the Mustard Seed never lets anybody tell her what she can and can’t do but somehow does what she does.  I have not been to the Mustard Seed in a while, but it is a very fun place to shop.  There are several fine places to shop in Little Falls.  I must take a drive there soon.

Don’t I look like a little devil?

I close with the wine I mentioned in the first paragraph.  I was wearing that shirt and drinking white wine yesterday, but my hair does not look like that these days.  I started to grow it out when I knew I was going to audition for the play I’m in (perhaps you have read my blog posts about that).  It will probably not stay long.

However, this blog post has gotten a little long for a Lame Post Friday post, approaching 400 words.  And I think the coffee I put on earlier is done.  Can headache relief be far?  In any case, I thank you one again for tuning in and hope I have managed to be at least mildly entertaining.

Will It Be Spring? Lame Will Tell

What is with this posting every other day, me?  Will I ever get my act together?  For the answers to these and other burning questions, stay tuned. I do not promise to answer them, but you may be able to draw your own conclusions.  In any case, it is Lame Post Friday, this hot tea is not the miracle I was hoping for, and I am sitting ten-finger typing on my Chromebook and thought I could manage at least a silly post before trying to get on with my day.

Random picture to denote passage of time while I make myself a second cup of tea.

We had a couple of days where it got kind of sort of warm.  Yesterday was not one of them, as I learned after I had inadvisedly left the house without hat or gloves.  It was the bitter wind.  I guess that makes the picture a little less random, because that is what I felt like walking, although of course not as skinny.  Perhaps after a few weeks on the South Beach Diet.

Preview of Coming Attractions?

Searching for another picture to pep things up, I came across this one of me in the garden at Raindrops on Roses Bed and Breakfast in Herkimer, NY.  I have been to their wine tasting room a few times and enjoyed it very much.  I would like to take some wine loving family and friends there sometime this spring or summer.  It is easy walking distance from my house.  We could walk there, taste a few wines, walk back to my house, then sit out on my deck drinking more wine, which I will provide.  Ah, more motivation to get my house clean!

But for right now…

Unfortunately, quite a bit of snow has to melt before I start thinking about gardens and deck parties.  In fact, there is more snow outside than is shown in this picture, but I did not feel like scrolling through my Media Library all morning.

I see I have rattled on for over 300 words.  I will try for a more Mohawk Valley related post later today, striving once again to become a daily blogger.  As always, I hope you will stay tuned.

Good Wine, Late Post

This post is in my drafts twice.  Twice I started to write it then stopped, because I could not find the wine tasting notes I took while I sipped.  This morning (early Wednesday to make Tuesday’s post), I said, oh, just go ahead and write the post.  Before I typed that last sentence, I thought hmmm… and looked into the notebook at my side (I actually got up early to write something entirely different, which I did, using other notes in that notebook) (I add in the interests of accuracy). Guess what I found!

I just found out today was Red Wine Day, so I poured myself a glass (I wrote in the earlier draft;  it is not Red Wine Day and I am certainly not drinking wine at 4:34 in the morning).  What a perfect time to talk about my visit to the Wine Tasting Room at Raindrops on Roses Bed and Breakfast in Herkimer, NY (really, it is often a good time to talk about wine and delightful B&Bs).

I toasted the day.

Instead of tasting, I opted for a flight, which was four glasses, each more than a taste but less than a full glass.  I could have just gotten a glass of one wine, or even a whole bottle.  A whole bottle seemed a bit much.  I was walking not driving, but still.

OK, that was all I had in the draft.  Now, from the tasting notes…

Picture of the garden at Raindrops on Roses to depict passage of time while I get more coffee.

I found a shady spot in the garden in back of the house and commenced sipping and note taking, two of my favorite activities.  The breeze was delightful and the surroundings beautiful.  The Prospect Falls Gewurztraminer (I am better at pronouncing it than spelling it) was nice, with what I call a New Yorky taste, which is a quality I treasure in a wine. I felt like I could taste the skin of the grape, in a good way.  I pronounced it a fun wine.

Next I had the Montezuma Dry Riesling.  Very tasty, and dry enough for my tastes.  Prospect Falls Merlot was next, followed by the Roaring Falls Red of the same winery.  Alas, I did not enjoy the reds as much as the whites.  I am sure it was just me or the day, because I know I have purchased bottles of these same wines and enjoyed them very much.

It is a beautiful setting.

It was a lovely interlude on a Saturday afternoon.  Alas that it will soon be too cold to sit in the garden at Raindrops on Roses.  Still, I might get there for another glass or flight before the snow falls.  I will try to make the blog post about it sooner after the fact.

Is It Too Lame for a Friday Blog Post?

Full disclosure:  As I begin to type a Lame Post Friday post in order to continue my streak of blogging daily (only two posts in a row, but one must start somewhere), I have been drinking and typing.  I walked to Cliff’s, a local convenience store, to get some money from the ATM and purchase a lottery ticket; Mega Millions, which has reached enormous proportions.  I know I have very little chance of winning. However, if I do not purchase a ticket, I have zero chance of winning.  Anyways, the walk down was healthy, and I needed more cash.

From Cliff’s I walked to Yetty’s, where I enjoyed a glass of Chardonnay and wrote a little more on my murder mystery (Preview of Coming Attractions).  I looked at a a menu, but nothing particularly tempted me.  I had eaten something before I left home, I add to comfort those who perhaps thought I was drinking on an empty stomach.

Random picture to denote passage of time.

And that was as far as I got last night when my Chromebook cut out on me.  I had no idea I had let the battery get that low.  Shows how much I pay attention.

Anyways, from Yetty’s I went to End Zone, where a couple of friends and the bartender, who is also a friend, and I speculated on what we would do if we won large amounts of money.  My best hope is that I win something, maybe a hundred bucks:  enough to do something fun with but nothing life-changing.  Life will change in any case, and there is your half-baked philosophy for the post.

I see I am approaching 300 words, which I feel is adequate not to say respectable (my usual adjective) for a Lame Post Friday post, even a late one.  I have no Mohawk Valley Adventures planned for today but hope to write a blog post about the ones I have not yet blogged about (I would say Preview of Coming Attractions, but these posts are beginning to seem more along the lines of Promises, Promises).

I Wine, I Wuss, I Make a Wednesday Blog Post

So there I was, debating between having a Wuss-out Wednesday or a Waste Not Want Wednesday.  Then I said, oh just make one of the posts you have been putting off making. So I started to do that, then realized I did not have all the relevant information in my head.  I can’t possibly go looking for the right notebook now.  So how about a Preview of Coming Attractions, using a couple of the pictures I hope to use when I finally write those elusive “real posts.”

Who me? Drink wine?

This is me at the Raindrops on Roses Bed and Breakfast in Herkimer, NY, enjoying a flight of wine from their Wine Tasting Room. I sat in their lovely garden and took a picture of my hand and a glass for Facebook posting purposes.  The bracelet, one of my favorites, I got from One Of A Kind Designs Handcrafted Jewelry by Debora Bruce (OOAK).  You can find OOAK on Facebook, and if you like jewelry, I recommend you do.   So now at least I gave shout-outs to two local businesses.

One of my favorite spots!

Here is a picture of the Eckler Building and Suiter House, where the Herkimer County Historical Society resides.  I took this picture for another Post which is not easily condensed into a few words.  However, these buildings are also important in the murder mystery I am currently writing and hope to start rehearsing soon.  It will benefit the historical society and is to be presented at the Herkimer Elks Lodge on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Ah, I see I have gotten over 250 words.  Regular readers (if I still have any) know I consider that respectable.  I thank you for bearing with me as I struggle with my blog and other problems.

One More Lame…

Here I sat thinking, oh, it will be all right if I make my Lame Post Friday post early Saturday morning; I have done it before.  Then I decided to make my post tonight.  Full disclosure:  I have had a couple of glasses of wine.  I like wine, especially on a Friday.  I like Friday.

Who me? Howl?

Here’s a funny thing:  in other posts I have looked for a particular picture in my Media Library in vain, sometimes spending a foolish amount of time looking.  Today, this illustration was in the very first place I looked, if you can believe such a thing (and why would I lie?) (when I do lie, I call it fiction).

I am not up to any Mohawk Valley adventures tonight.  I did think about going out to dinner, but once the bra was off, I was not inclined to put it back on (kindly do not say TMI, as if most of us women do not wear bras!).  So I have remained comfortably ensconced in my living room, looking at the computer then looking at Columbo and crocheting.  Yes, Columbo is usually for Sundays, but I was in the middle of an episode, so I finished that one, then there were two more on that DVD… you know how it is, and if you do not, well, just take my word for it.

My wife says…

I thought I would put a different caption from “One more thing…”  I think it would be a good idea if I started watching different DVDs so I could talk about other things than Columbo in my blog posts.  I know, more Mohawk Valley adventures would be a good idea too.  However, I can make no promises for tomorrow.  Perhaps I could reach back and make one of those posts I should have made a couple weeks ago.  But here I am blogging about what I could be blogging about.  Is that like a snake eating its own tail?  Discuss amongst yourselves.

The Posers at Brass Tack

When I heard that The Posers, my favorite local band, was playing at The Brass Tack in Frankfort, NY, I got all excited.  Then, due to the weather forecast, they changed the date from Wednesday to Thursday.  Rats!  I had someplace I was supposed to be on Thursday (nothing blogworthy).  However, after I fulfilled my commitment I managed to stop by to enjoy a little music.

OK, not the best shot.

As I pulled into the parking lot, I could hear them playing one of my favorites, “Is She Really Going Out With Him?”  I danced as I walked up the ramp to the entrance, which was right behind them.  At least the audience saw me.  I paused at the bar for a glass of wine then made my way out to the porch where a number of people were enjoying the tunes.  I found a place to sit down, asking a couple at an adjoining table if I would be in their way.  They said I would not.

Alas, my good friend Rick, the bass player, was not there.  He recently got a full knee replacement and was not able to play.  What is it with knee replacements?  One of my favorite actors can’t be in the murder mystery because he is getting one, too!  Come to think of it, one of my knees has been really hurting lately.  Oh dear.

Different angle, not much better.

Perhaps if I would have stayed longer, till the sun had dropped a little lower, I could have gotten better pictures. However, the band took a break when my wine was quite low in my glass, so I snuck away, pausing at the exit to wave, so it was not really so sneaky.  At least I had done what I could to support local music.

The next time I go to the Brass Tack, I hope to order some food.  I know they are a really good place to eat.  They are located at 4258 Acme Rd., Frankfort, NY, phone number 315-894-7996.

I Strive to Improve on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

And then I let three days go by without a blog post.  Mostly because I did not want to make another post about not making a good post, yet I did not feel up to making a real blog post.  What the hell, me? Now it is Sunday, and I am feeling tired and done with the day but do not want another day to go by without making a blog post.  Well, I am trying to do better about every aspect of my life, blogging included.  I make  small improvements at irregular intervals.  Here is my attempt at improving my blogging.

I feel badly that I have good topics I have not blogged about yet. Perhaps I can make those posts in the coming week.  We shall see.  In the meantime, I will make a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post, just to not go another day without blogging.

I have been having a happy Sunday.

I am, in fact, watching an episode of Columbo.  I also utilized the Columbo method of cleaning:  I cleaned for a set amount of time then said, “One more thing!” and put away a couple more pieces of junk.

I do not only watch Columbo, although I do pop in many episodes.  I watched a different movie earlier, and during the previous week refrained entirely watching anything except for WKTV News in the morning.

So I guess this is a really nothing blog post.  I do believe that any blog post is better than no blog post at all.  I hope my readers agree.  If you do not, feel free to comment.  In the meantime, I am over 250 words.  Perhaps I can close with a cheerful picture at least.

Me drink wine? It could be!

It took me a while to find a picture I liked.  On the brighter side, this has gotten me over 300 words.  300 good words?  Let us not ask for miracles on Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

Cheers to the Luna Moth!

I had two authentic Mohawk Valley adventures last night with the result that I was too tired to blog about either one.  This morning I feel pressed for time, so I will put those on hold (which I hear receptionists should not do to a bomb threat), and try for a Waste Not Want Not Wednesday post.

Beautiful!

I took this picture at work a couple weeks ago.  Isn’t it awesome?  It is only the second or third time I saw a Luna Moth.  I forgot to share it on Facebook (it was the end of break at the time) so thought it was perfect for a Waste Not Want Not Wednesday.

Full disclosure: He was not drinking at the time.

This is Elvis, a pourer at a wine tasting at Valley Wine and Liquor in Herkimer, NY.  I have sadly not blogged about a tasting there in a while, but I usually mention the blog while I am taking tasting notes.  This time, Elvis said to me, “Do you want to take a picture for the blog?”  I confessed to not having used the previous picture.  Now, if he is pouring at another tasting, I can say I used one of the pictures.

I miss my adventure partner!

Here is my friend Kim on her recent visit to the Mohawk Valley.  We had paused at the Waterfront Grille, also in Herkimer, for a libation and a snack.  I suggested we take the previously obligatory pictures of each other toasting.

I had to stand up, because I was back-lit. No, I wasn’t lit!

My picture also gives a shout-out to Herkimer College, previously (and to some always) known as HCCC or H-Trip-C.

As I approach 300 words, I sign off on another late post.  Full disclosure:  there is every possibility today’s post will be late too.  But how appropriate for a Non-Sequitur Thursday post.

What’s Not to Lame?

I thought of that title last week when I saw a sign asking, “What’s not to like?”  I kept repeating it to myself so I would not forget it.  I don’t know why I did not write it down at some point, as I usually do things I want to remember.  Now I am not even sure it is all that good of a title.  Still, how good of a title to I need for Lame Post Friday?

As I type this I am looking at a Columbo episode titled “Undercover.”  I had thought it was not all that good of an episode (I saw it before years ago), but it seems I am wrong, because it has definitely caught my interest.  I guess I do not need to be glued to it though, since I have it on DVD. I can watch it again at any time.

He’s dressed differently in this episode.

I thought I had heard the heat would be over today, but it has not been the relief I was hoping for.  I suppose I should not have expected miracles. At least it was Friday. And still is.  Woohoo!  Will I have another on-time blog post? Could be!

I am not dressed like this right now..

I am enjoying a libation this Friday evening.  That picture is from some time ago, but I believe I have the same smile on my face.  I do enjoy my Fridays.

This has not been much of a post, but at least it is over 250 words.  Other writers try for quality over quantity, and many would say 250 is not all that much quantity.  I can’t worry about these judgement calls.  But perhaps I can find a fun picture to sign off with.

We should always be excellent to each other.

Bill and Ted.  There could be no possible objection.
