I Manage to Find Some Monsters

I think I can just about manage a Monstrous Monday Post.  Never mind what my problem is; my problems are in general way less than many others and I feel I must stop being so self-dramatizing about them.  Then again, I do always say, go with your strengths.  Never mind that, let me make with the monsters.

Just hanging out with the guys.

Here is a shot from Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, taken back in 2016.  I love Pumpkin Junction!

Regular readers know what this picture means.

I have just been searching my Media Library for more pictures of skeletons (or skellingtons, as I like to call them) (and have been doing so LONG before Nightmare Before Christmas, so don’t think that’s where I stole it from!).  I could not find any, oddly enough.  It is, I believe, time to start finding new monster pictures for this feature.  However, tonight I am feeling rather brain dead and was delighted to see The Brain From the Planet Arous,  which often eludes me when I want to use it.  Note to self:  index Media Library.

My favorite guy!

When in doubt, go with Nosferatu.  I heard they were doing another remake.  I have only seen the 1922 silent version, oh and Shadow of the Vampire, which I enjoyed and would like to catch again.

As usual on Monstrous Monday, I seem to be saying nothing of substance. However, I am over 200 words, so I will hit Publish and hope for the best.  Maybe one more monster picture…

Took me a minute to find a good one.

October Memories

I guess it’s another Late Post Week (when you put it in caps it looks like more of a thing) as I sit here Friday morning making a Throwback Thursday Post.

I love it!

I go back to 2016 and one of the first pictures I ever shared in this blog.  It is from Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, so I can give a shout-out to one of my favorite local businesses.  I don’t think they had this particular display when I was there last year, but there was still plenty to look at and enjoy.

Isn’t he handsome?

Here is my late, dearly missed husband Steve that same year.  We used to have all kinds of Mohawk Valley Adventures together.

I’ve shared this suspicious bunch before.

Another kind of October adventure was our presentation of A G.R.A.V.E. Murder to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.  I must do some more work on Lights, Camera, Murder! the next murder mystery, coming up Nov. 11 (preview of coming attractions).

Must work on my front porch!

And here is  my front porch, with past Halloween decorations.  So far this year, I don’t even have lights.  I hang my head in shame.

To complete the post, and the shout-out of the first two pictures, I will add that Pumpkin Junction is located at 2188 Roberts Rd., Sauquoit. They are open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m, daily through Oct. 31.  Check it out!

Would Ten-Finger Typing Have Helped?

I meant to go for a walk or run after work today, so I could do a Running Commentary or Pedestrian Post.  I do not know why I thought I would do any such thing.  I am almost always tired after work these days.  I get very little done beyond the bare essentials.  In fact, as I type this (pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet, of course), I am remembering an essential or two I ought to be doing instead.

That was as far as I got earlier.  Full disclosure:  I did not do any of the aforementioned essentials, for which I am feeling suitably guilty.  Now I am back on my couch, on my Tablet, and I really would rather be headed to bed, but would like to make my blog post first.

Preview of Coming Attractions?

I looked in my Media Library at October 2016 for a Throwback Thursday picture.  When I was outside earlier, the air smelled like fall.  Additionally, my fall allergies are starting to kick in.  Therefore this picture from Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit seemed appropriate.   I have seen posts on Facebook telling fall junkies like me to “back our pumpkin spice asses off, summer isn’t over yet!”  Of course it is still summer.  In fact, tomorrow is supposed to be hot and humid, and won’t that be pleasant for all involved?

There’s a summer view!

I went to June 2020 for this one.  My deck has not been in good shape to hang out on for a while.  My toenails have not been painted, and those sandals are broken.  You can just see one of my late husband Steve’s legs, beyond the glass of wine, just to remind me that toenails and sandals are really not things to be sad about.

Oh dear, I did not mean to make a melancholy blog post.  I expect some sadness will always be with me, but I do not mean to burden others with my emotions.  Let me look for a pleasant memory to close with.

Cheers to you, Steve!

Here is Steve in Ruggerios Trattoria in Little Falls, NY in the summer of 2019.   Good memories!

And I see I am over 350 words.  Perhaps I could come up with an off the wall headline suitable for a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post.

Monsters for my Blogiversary!

Happy Blogiversary to me.  At least, WordPress said Happy Anniversary, but I like my word better.  I have been writing this silly blog for a dozen years now.  How the time flies.  What better way to celebrate than with another Monstrous Monday Post?

Isn’t she sweet?

Although I have been blogging since 2011, I only started including pictures in 2016.  I was always slow to catch up with technology.  We got the witch at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, a great place to go for Halloween stuff.  Witchy, as I like to call her, stays on our front porch all year.  I dress her as an angel at Christmas time.

“What do you mean you’ve been blogging for a dozen years?”

I had to include my favorite guy, Nosferatu, of the eponymous 1922 silent movie.  I always think he looks startled in this shot, as if we have interrupted him.

I love the side-eye.

THERE’S The Brain That Wouldn’t Die !  I was looking for a picture of her for yesterday’s blog post and couldn’t find one.  I’ll be a ding dong daddy, as my grandmother used to say.  I keep thinking I will take the time to make an index of my Media Library but I never do.

Isn’t she pretty?

Back to my own decorations with my skeleton Bonita wearing a mask I think was made for a dog.  I picked it up at a rummage sale somewhere.  I don’t know if you can tell, but Bonita is holding black tulips.  They were made by my friend Jerry for a murder mystery.  He graciously presented them to me afterwards.

I thank any readers who have been reading me since 2011 (if any), I thank anybody just tuning in, and everybody in between!  I hope I have entertained!

Is It Really Wednesday?

OK, all I really have right now is that title.  I guess that makes this either a Wordless or a Wuss-out Wednesday when what I really feel like making is a Mid-week Monsters Post.

Of course, she does have a pretty face.

This is the movie I wanted to watch on Severed Head Sunday.  Unfortunately, I only have it on a DVD collection, not a DVD all by itself.  And with my current DVD situation, I can only put the disc in and hit Play; I can’t arrow over or down to play the second movie on the disc.  No Special Features either, although I rarely got into watching those.  Not that I mean to harp on my first world problems.

“First world problems are still problems!”

Here is my skeleton Bonita having a Wrist to Forehead moment.  I have been feeling a little apt to swoon these days, in my more dramatic moments (of course I have many dramatic moments; I am a theatre person, after all). I guess I don’t have a theme for today’s post.  It is being made out of a desire to post every day, and not to make this post late.

Is that Pinot Noir?

Sometimes the best thing to do is just pour yourself a glass of wine and hope for a better post tomorrow.  I purchased that glass at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, just to mention a local business.  I stupidly broke it last Halloween. Perhaps I can get another one this fall.

In the meantime,  I am over 250 words.  Not bad for a silly post.  I am going to take my own advice: sip a little wine and hope for a better post tomorrow.  As always I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Monday Memories

I think I will try for Monday Memories instead of my usual Monstrous Monday Post.  I feel it will be a good idea for me to make a blog post, and the easiest way to do that is with the help of my Media Library.

That was one of his favorite sweatshirts.

Regular readers know I am mourning the loss of my husband, Steve, so naturally I feel inclined to share memories of him.  This is from October 2016 at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY.

“The bathtub?”

Have I shared this picture recently?  It is from the Ilion Little Theatre production of Harvey in 2011.  I think I have, but it is one of my favorite pictures.  Steven referred to it as our big scene.  I don’t have a picture of the part where I almost fainted into his arms.

He looks so cute and intellectual.

This was outside the library in Arlington, VT.  Back then our laptop was really a laptop.

Good times with a good friend.

One more picture:  a great time at the Waterfront Grille in Herkimer, NY, with our good friend Tracy.  So I have shared memories of my husband and plugged a couple of local businesses.   One does what one can.

Sweet Halloween Spirits on Throwback Thursday

We can call yesterday either a real Wuss-out Wednesday or a real Blogger’s Sick Day; the result is the same, and the least said, soonest mended.  Already I have said too much.  I continue to say too much by complaining that headaches continue plague me.  I daresay I do not lead a healthy enough lifestyle.  I must work on that, but in the meantime,  let me attempt another Throwback Thursday Post.

That is a good quote.

I went back to October 2016 for a shot of one of my favorite places, the So Sweet Candy Shoppe in Utica, NY.  I have not been there recently so cannot report on their current Halloween decor.

Must have spirits on Halloween.

I looked in my Media Library in October 2017 and found this shot from Dikin Durt Distillery in Herkimer,  NY.  I do not know that it is overtly Halloweeny, but it does involve spirits.  I say that counts.

Those are some big pumpkins!

Skipping ahead to October 2019, here is a more Halloweeny shot from Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY.  I have been there once this year (perhaps you read my blog post about it) and hope to go again.

I think my concluding paragraph will bring me to 200 words, my admittedly arbitrary blog standard (it did).  I will provide the headache and healthy lifestyle update in a future post.

Yes, I Made It To Pumpkin Junction

Having thought about going to Pumpkin Junction earlier today, I became determined to get there.  I was fortunate enough to connect with my niece Dana and meet her and her family there.  These places are always better when shared.

I was actually a little late getting there.  I was reading a book and had forgotten how far away the place was.  My bad!  However, I made it to 2188 Graffenberg Rd.  I was delighted to see Dana, her husband Dan, and their kids, Sheppie and Evie.  We walked around looking at all the decorations for sale.  Fun!  I was also interested in checking out the Corn Maze.

Evie in the Corn maze.

I thought I had taken a couple of pictures in the corn maze.  It was hard to tell while I was taking them, due to the sunshine causing glare on my Tablet.  However, I think the one I got was pretty cute.

Hey, where do you stick your face in?

After getting a goodly amount of exercise in the Corn Maze,  we all had a donut.  Then I suggested getting a few more pictures, especially in some of the wooden panels for just such a purpose.

There’s a cute face!

Evie needed a little help to be seen.

Sheppie boosted Evie up so she could be seen in one of the cut-outs.

It was a great visit.  I hope to return before the Halloween season is over.

Not a Lame Shout-Out, I Hope

Now look what I did!  I forgot to make my Lame Post Friday post and now it is almost nine o’clock Saturday morning!   I suppose that is not so late to some people, but I keep early hours.  I slept in till six and went running by 6:30.  The sun was already up, so it was unusual for me.  Never mind.  Let me get on with making Some Semblance of a Post (that really ought to be a category for me).

Just hanging out!

I threw in a picture to pep things up.  This was at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, in October of 2016.  I am hoping to take a drive over there today.  I need a little Halloween.

It is a pretty awesome place.

I might as well give Pumpkin Junction a proper shout-out while I’m at it.  They are located at 2199 Graffenberg Rd., Sauquoit, NY, phone number 315-794-4604.  They have pumpkins, gourds, decorations, costumes and more!

Lots of pumpkins!

I have to call to make sure they are open.  I would think they would be on October 1st, but it is well to make sure of these things.

Yes!  I called just now and they are open every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. till Halloween!  LET’S GO!!!

Wuss-out? Wayback? It’s Not Even Wednesday!

Yesterday was indeed a Wuss-out Wednesday.  I not only did not make my blog post, I did not do a whole lot else.  I went to work, I went to rehearsal for Love’s Labour’s Lost (perhaps you read some of my blog posts about the play I am in).  Oh, and I made Tuesday’s blog post before work (that was one of the posts about the play referred to in the earlier parenthetical comment).  I sat on the porch with my husband and enjoyed the evening, before and after rehearsal.  I consider that an important thing to do, even though it is not what one might call productive.

Never mind all that.  It is time to make another Some Post, Any Post (is that a category?  Perhaps it should be).  How about some Mid-Week Monsters (oh why isn’t it Friday, I lament).

Isn’t she sweet?

I combine Wuus-Out with Wayback by sharing a picture from 2016. OK, not very way back.  We got this lovely witch at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, one of your favorite places to go in October.  Full disclosure: this witch is still on our porch from last Halloween.  We dressed her as an angel at Christmas time.  Alas, we did not take a picture of that.

A good place to obtain monsters and other Halloween stuff.

Here is a picture of the main building of Pumpkin Junction.  They are only open in the fall. I will no doubt make at least one blog post about them at the time (preview of coming attractions).

I see I have somehow gotten over 250 words.  Score!  I need to go eat breakfast and fix my lunch.  Happy Wednesday/Thursday, everyone!
