Some Semblance of a Saturday Post

I forgot to make a Saturday Running Commentary Post earlier today after I ran.  I had an enjoyable Saturday after said run.  Not surprisingly to anybody who knows me, the Saturday involved some alcoholic beverages.  I am now at at my house, a little tipsy (I did NOT drive while achieving said tipsiness), remembering how I have been a faithful daily blogger  recently, and thinking it would be a good idea if I made some sort of a Saturday evening blog post.

Just one more thing…

I am watching an episode of Columbo on DVD.  It is an episode I have seen several times before, so I am able to make a blog post while it plays.

Yummy!

Earlier, my friend Kim and I enjoyed a couple of drinks and some food at Yetty’s in Herkimer, NY.  This picture was taken at another visit, which was equally as yummy.

Another Yetty’s photo.

The head is always behind the Yetty’s bar, with different hats and accessories.  This is also a picture from another visit.  Full disclosure:  I did not notice what the head was sporting this time.

Another place, another time, but the same sweet smile!

My friend Kim was my partner in today’s Mohawk Valley adventures.  This picture, of  course, is from a different day, but we had equally as good a time.

Will this count as a Scattered Saturday post?  The content of the post is not scattered, but my brain definitely is. You will have these things on a Saturday. In my defense, I am of age, and I was not driving.   With your permission (or without, as it happens), I will return to my enjoyment of Columbo, and whatever entertainment follows.

Once Again, I Return to the Blogosphere

Last week was a bad blogging week.  I actually have a couple of pretty good things to write blog posts about but not much brain with which to do so.  However, I wanted to make some semblance of a post so my readers would not feel I had completely deserted them.  My last post was a Monstrous one, I think (if I go back and read it now, I may lose my momentum and never finish this post) (which some would feel was no tragedy, but I can’t worry about them).

Random photo to liven things up.

I found this picture in March 2017 of my Media Library.  It is our sweet pooch Spunky.  Speaking of dearly missed loved ones, Sunday was my late husband Steven’s birthday.  That  could explain the funk I have been in.  Grief is a weird, unpredictable kind of chronic pain.  Of course, I am a kind of a pain myself, so make of that what you will.

Steve in his natural habitat, surrounded by murder suspects.

Here is a picture of Steve doing something he loved: acting.  He is the handsome dude in the suit.  It is the cast of A G.R.A.V.E. Murder, an interactive murder mystery we did to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.  It was a really fun show.  I am, of course, grateful for all the wonderful memories I have.

We really were the perfect couple.

One more memory:  Fabulous and Fatal, another murder mystery for the Historical Society.  We were drag queens, or thought we were.

I will try to follow this with posts about my Mohawk Valley Adventures, of which I have had a few recently.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

I Say More Wuss-Out Than Wayback

Well, here we go again with me going days in a row without making a blog post.  I do not even know if I will finish this one today.  I have plans to go to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort NY with a friend for food and music.  I can’t even say that is a preview of coming attractions, because how often have I said I was going to make a blog post about something then did not.  I did not make that a question, because I do not expect that anybody will go back and check, least of all me, and I do not welcome guesses.

There is not much snow there currently.

I wanted to put in a picture, to break things up a little.  I accidentally clicked on this one from last January as I was fumbling around in my Media Library (still figuring out this new computer), and said, why not?  It is the path over what used to be a hydraulic canal in Herkimer, a favorite place for me to run or walk. I have not been walking enough lately and not running at all, but I hope to change that soon.  Not right this minute, of course. Right this minute I am blogging.

I do not intend to wear these to walk or run.

To mix things up a little more, I include this shot from 2015, when I was in Busybody at Ilion Little Theatre.  That was a fun show.  That makes this a kind of a Wayback Wednesday, although I had intended more of a Wuss-Out Wednesday.  Oh well, call it what you like.  I am over 250 words, and at least I have made a blog post.  As always, thank you for tuning in.

Tired, But Typing!

Make your blog post now, I said to myself.  Use the dining-room-table-top, I said.  You can ten-finger type, it’ll be quick and easy, I said.  I was full of beans (only I don’t necessarily say beans).  My dining-room-table-top is SLOW, and my brain is at no time what you might call a speedy instrument.  Never mind all that, let me attempt some semblance of a post in lieu of the Tired Tuesday Post I was just too tired to make on Tuesday.

I used to be pretty fast on this sort of thing.

I throw in a picture, as usual, in hopes of pepping up the post, only to find my computer is fairly slow about those too.  I would not be having these problems if I had not been too lazy to make my lunch last night.  Here’s a point to ponder:  why do I feel I was too tired to blog but too lazy to pack?  Sounds like some half-baked philosophy more suited to Lame Post Friday.  Ah, Friday, one day closer since yesterday!  But one must not pin all one’s happiness on the weekend, as I have said before.  Let me look for some joy in today!

A common sight on my walks.

One point of some relief, if not joy:  we have not had much snow yet.  I put off shoveling the driveway a little longer!  The warmer weather also makes walks more pleasant.  I had a nice walk yesterday morning.  This morning it was raining, but perhaps this afternoon I will take a meander, even if the rain continues.  I don’t care to go to work drenched from the rain, but just to return home for my evening is another matter.

Now I see I am approaching 300 words.  Score!  Will I make a Wednesday blog post tonight and stay caught up?  A little suspense adds interest to my day.

What to Wear, What to Wear, What to Wear?

Yes, hello, I am making my late Saturday post on Sunday morning.  I woke feeling down but with less of a headache than I had yesterday, so I have that going for me.  I spent part of yesterday walking around Herkimer, trying to assuage my loneliness, with some success.  I will write a blog post about that later, I hope.  This is in the nature of a place holder, so I can continue to pretend I am a daily blogger.

A great place to go!

If I muster enough energy, I may go to the last session of Brookwood Market.  It is handy walking distance from my house, so I can get some needed exercise. Additionally, they are doing some Halloweeny stuff.  I can put on a costume.  I think I have a few laying around here somewhere.

I thought I looked good. But perhaps I flattered myself.

Here is me in a costume I threw together for the Ilion Days Doodah Parade in July 2019, just to show you what I can do off the top of my head.  My goal at the time was to keep cool in the heat, so I threw some light shawls over a camisole and bicycle shorts, topping it off with my beloved tiara (I only had one back then).

I put a spell on you!

Here is a costume I took a little more trouble with, even going to far as to make myself a wand out of a knitting needle, although it is not shown in the picture.  I was a Silly Wizard for a March of Dimes event.  The kids there were not impressed, but I had fun.

I guess for a place holder, this turned out to be a blog about me in costume.  We’ll see if I actually get into one today.  I will try to get a picture for the blog, but I am no had at selfies.

Tired Ten-Fingered Typing, Not On Time

It was pointed out to me in a comment on yesterday’s post that even coffee cannot make everybody happy.  What a comforting thought.  I suppose I cannot even hope to make as many people happy as coffee does, but let us not argue numbers.  Let us not argue at all.  For one reason, I am no hand at argument; I usually lose and fall prey to the scourge of “I SHOULD have said…”  even years later.  Oh, the people I could annihilate verbally if only I had a time machine!

Now there is an interesting thought:  how many people, if they had a time machine, would use it, not to prevent war, famine, pestilence, etc., but to go back and use all those zingers that occur to us in the middle of the night regarding long ago arguments and insults?  I am not saying I would do so.  If I encountered a time machine (I am WAY not smart enough to invent one), I would stay the hell away from it.  You don’t know what all you would really change, if you could change anything.  Anyways, time travel stories make my head hurt, so let us change the subject.

You may have noticed by now that once again, I got nuthin’.  It is early Wednesday morning and I am on my dining-room-table-top, ten-fingered typing a late Tired Tuesday post.  I do not trust my Tablet any more for blogging purposes.  And I must say ten-fingered typing without autocorrect (talk about scourges!) is a pleasure.  When I mean “hell” I can say “hell”  not “he’ll.”  Nice.

What a selection!

I wanted to throw in a picture to pep things up and at last managed to find, download, and add one I liked.  Regular readers know how technologically inept I am.  And now I see I am over 300 words.  Not too bad for a Late Tired Tuesday post.  Are they entertaining words?  I can only hope.

Late Saturday or On Time Sunday?

I had meant to continue my Late Post Weekend by making my Saturday blog post this morning (Sunday), but I had neglected to plug in my Tablet and was too lazy to sit up at the dining-room-table-top.  Additionally, I was trying to overcome a terrible bout of Don’t Wanna Do Nuthin’ complicated by additional symptoms of Not Knowing What I Ought To Do anyways.  Oh dear.  Anyways, now it is Sunday evening, and I am trying to make some semblance of a post at least before it is Monday.

And now my Tablet is acting up again!  It was doing that yesterday morning.  The cursor wouldn’t stay where I put it (for example in the title space) but kept jumping back to the body of the post.  Then the screen kept jumping up and down.  The latter problem hasn’t started yet, but I can’t seem to put in a title.  Yesterday morning I went to the dining-room-table-top to complete the post.  I suppose that is what I must do now.

I know: First World Problems.  It is probably also the perennial bugbear that dogs me:  Operator Error.  But what have I done?

I suppose the best thing I can do is to finish the post on the dining-room-table-top.  Only I am looking at a Columbo episode as I type this (one letter at a time with the stylus, I always feel compelled to add).

I just love him.

Oh well, I suppose one can pause the DVD player.  Once again, First World Problems.  Yes, I KNOW things could be much worse for me and I DO count my blessings!

I am now on the dining-room-table-top and have successfully put in a headline.  Now I will add categories and tags for what I am afraid is yet another post about Why I Can’t Make a Blog Post today.  If I manage to get on the computer tomorrow morning before work, I can count that post as Sunday’s, this post as Saturday’s, and I will be… OK, not exactly caught up, but back to being a daily blogger.  As always,  I thank you for tuning in.

Bonita to the Rescue!

Monday was a Blogger’s Sick Day.  Now it is early Tuesday morning and I am trying for some semblance of a post. Coffee will help.

I’m getting there.

Well, that took forever, and it isn’t even the picture I was looking for.  But it will have to do.

Now I feel like screaming.

Unable to think of anything else to say, I went to my Media Library and found this picture from The Screaming Skull.  It is actually a pretty entertaining flick, although I first encountered it on Mystery Science Theater 3000, which, in case you did not know it, features cheesy movies.

And it hasn’t even started yet!

I thought I would continue the skeleton theme, and do you think I could find any skeletons?  I found a half dozen other pictures I have wasted time searching for.  One day I will sit down and make an index of that Media Library.

A depiction of me, buried in my own thoughts.

There’s a skeleton!  Or at least parts of one.  Your imagination can supply the rest.

Oh dear.  All I am doing is watching the word count and hoping to make it to 200 words.  Is this how other bloggers do it?  I don’t think so.

Bonita to the rescue!

One more skeleton picture will put me over the top!  This is my beloved Bonita, wearing a dog mask we found at a rummage sale.

And that is over 200 words.  On to face Tuesday!

Still Tired on Tuesday

I said yesterday that I would try for a better blog post tomorrow, but that would be today, and I am having a Tired Tuesday.  In my defense, I am not a young woman and I had rather a hard time running the Boilermaker 15K two days ago.  Perhaps you read my blog posts about it.  I just glanced over yesterday’s post and noticed a few typos.  I left them there, as testimony to what bad shape I was in.

Oh, just listen to me whine!  I am embarrassing!  For heaven’s sake, I went for two walks yesterday, a short one before work today, and I worked on my feet for eight hours.  I am hardly on, you should pardon the expression, my last legs.  I should be grateful for the body I have and for the things it lets me do.  Of course I am, so you can stop playing that miniature violin (you know who you are).

Where was I?  Ah yes, trying to make some blog post, any blog post.  Perhaps a picture would pep things up.

I knew it wasn’t Friday.

A little Bela and Boris to brighten our day (that is Lugosi and Karloff, in case you needed to be reminded).  It was a rather Mondayish Tuesday for me, since I took Monday off.  I expect to remain confused about what day it is for the rest of the week.  These things happen.

In the meantime, I see I am over 200 words.  Score!  We’ll see how I do tomorrow, on Wuss-out Wednesday.  If I remember that it is Wednesday.

Some Semblance of a Blog Post

I’m afraid this is another post about What I Could Make A Blog Post About.  Because I’m just not feeling it this morning.  Tuesday we had the read-through for Shooting at the Grange, the murder mystery we are presenting April 29 to benefit Salisbury Grange.

Note to self: find out how to get to Salisbury Center.

Yesterday I took a half hour walk before work then went for a pretty good run after.  Pedestrian Posts and Running Commentary are always fun.  Later I took an unexpected trip to Frankfort, NY, to Fratello’s Pizzeria, to hear Phil Arcuri, one of my favorite local musicians.

From my Media Library.

I confess to feeling a bit down.  I took another half hour walk this morning, because I read somewhere that a half hour was the equivalent of taking 25 or 50 mg of Zoloft (I forget which).  I almost cut the walk short, because I seem to have done something to my hip again.  I said to myself, What do you think, something magic is going to happen if you walk for 30 minutes?  Well, nothing magic happened, but I am sure 30 minutes of walking burns more calories than walking for 20, that stands to reason.

So this has been my update, and I am going to call it a Wuss-out Wednesday.  I need to get on with my Thursday.
